Favorite Dress Ever

This dress is my favorite dress ever. I know I've said it about many dresses before, but this dress is really it. (You know, until the next one.) Last year I bought this dress is a beautiful blue color. I found it at Ross for a whopping $15. I scooped it up, wore it too much, and amazingly enough never managed to photograph it for the blog. I remember seeing a woman holding this yellow version when I was getting ready to check out. The yellow is the softest buttery color. So beautiful! She was buying it and I was heartbroken because not only was it my size, but it was the only one in the entire store. Turns out it was basically the only one in the mid-state. I went on a wild goose chase for weeks trying to find that thing. Finally I just gave up. I know, I make shopping for a dress sound like a treasure hunt. Anyway, early this Spring I was perusing the racks of Ross and I spotted it down the aisle. I'm pretty sure I tripped over myself a few times trying to get to it (Exaggeration yet again). Swoop! It was mine! Again, my size, and the only one in the store. (I looked for a backup) It really is the perfect length, silhouette, and pattern. If I could find it in even more colors, I'd buy them. And then I'd wear one every day and that'd be all I'd wear. Then my "style" blog would be rendered even more mundane and unwarranted. Whatever, I love it and that's my big long paragraph about how I finally got my hands on the most perfect dress.

I dusted off my Blowfish Garrens for some wear and tear, too. I've worn heels all of 2 times since Toby came to live with us so it was nice to have an excuse to put them on. Maybe I just have an irrational fear of wearing heels while trying to run after a small child. I know plenty of ladies do it daily, but that's just so intimidating to me. I ended up wearing the blue version on Sunday's Easter festivities with my family (this one was Saturday at Mike's). I didn't snap any pictures of it so I'll have to do that soon. Not that it's going to look that much different... haha

Today I'll be finishing up a couple designs for some clients and working on a website for Mike's stepmom, doing something with this mop I call my hair, hopefully organizing my office, and getting Honeybean inventory ready to go. It'll be a miracle if all of those get done, but I'll just start at the beginning and work my way through! Tomorrow I'll be sharing my latest Stitch Fix haul! xo

  1. I am frightened of carrying my son in certain heels, if I fell with him? But some heels are not so scary. Yay for dress hunting success.

  5. Beautiful as always. And wowzers to the place you took these photos at. It's super beautiful. I totally feel ya about the heals. I almost never wear them anymore because of my 2.5 year old but I LOVED them before I became a mama. The things we do for our kids, huh. ;)

  7. I love this dress on you! It's so pretty, and the length is just perfect for without tights! <3 Floral dresses are just the best!

Chasing after toddlers in heels... hmm. Really depends n the heels, I think. There are a couple pairs I wear at work (I work for a lady who does home day care) and then there are some that are just no. Carrying kids in heels is definitely scary for sure, though!

  10. I'm always so sad when you say you get your dresses at Ross because the Ross stores around me NEVER have anything as cute as what you have. Of course, I can never find any of the other dresses you have at any of the other stores either, unless they're online. It seriously makes me want to visit other states just to go dress shopping! =)

    1. I used to *never* find anything good at Ross! Seriously. Now like 75% of my wardrobe is from there because it's so affordable. It just takes some digging! I used to go very frequently. There's like 6 within a 15 mile radius of my house, and then 4 more on the way to work. It's all about hitting them often I guess! I haven't been in a while but that's because everytime I go I find like 14 dresses I love! haha

  11. oh, ross, how i adore you. i worked at the downtown portland ross when i was getting my bachelors and it was AMAZING being able to see the merch before it hit the floor. so much good stuff. i'm convinced that you can find most anything eventually at ross as long as you don't have a time limit. did you know that when someone returns things, ross uses the price that it is currently when it hits the floor. sometimes people keep things for, like, 5 months before returning and you can scoop things up for .99! it is great. i love this dress, btw.

  12. Lately I've been hearing lots of talk that florals are out, however I am quite stubbornly ignoring said talk. Florals are always in and this is the perfect floral dress!

Gorgeous dress and congrats on finding it, I know exactly what you mean about searching out something and then having that moment of excitement when you spot it and it happens to be in.your.size! Woo. Anywho, the dress is the perfect length on you, your legs look smashing (they can smash things, rawr). Sorry, I don't know where the random comments are coming from haha.

I'm off to search if my state has a Ross. I highly doubt it. (I'm in Arkansas)

  19. You know, when you find the perfect article of clothing, going on a wild goose chase for other colors and patterns isn't weird... it's totally and completely reasonable. You're just being PRACTICAL, ok? Besides, it really is adorable on you and Ross is so cheap. How could you not?

  27. Finding the perfect dress IS a treasure hunt! Whenever I go shopping with my mom and something like that happens, she says I was meant to buy/wear whatever garment it is. But she says it really seriously, like the world would end if I didn't buy it.
