// Today I Choose Happiness

It's the middle of the week and I'm feeling that slump. How about you? Here's my positive affirmation for the day! Murky skies and winter weather can't hold me down. Today is for tackling a to do list, creating, and getting excited for things to come.

Hope you're having a great week!

// Our Wedding : Reception

Most of these are silly photos, so beware! Screw flattering, right?! The dancing was without a doubt the cherry on top of our wedding sundae. It felt good to finally just let go, feel free, and DANCE! It was nice to feel like I could just throw caution to the wind after all of the stressful stuff came and went. Regardless of everything that happened (or didn't) at the wedding, this made it so worth it.

Look closely and you can even see Mike doing Gangnam Style, and I maybe whip out a "Bernie" or two... yes, everyone thought I was crazy. Luckily Chris (Susannah's boyfriend) knew the Bernie, too, so he did it with me. It was my wedding! I could do whatever I wanted! ;P Though I'm probably a little bit crazy for sharing it with the world... You decide. (And yes, there was apparently a zombie apocalypse, too!)

Y'all, this dress is something. It's seriously so beautiful. The pattern and colors are what (my) dreams are made of. Yet when I went to look at the outfit photos on the computer, I felt like maybe it just wasn't meant to be with my body. Being majorly "blessed" (ahem) in the hip/booty department means short dresses get even shorter, and flared skirts flare out like whoa. Even though it's not the most flattering on me, I can't help but love it. The watercolor pattern on the dress reminds me so much of my own blog header and it makes me want to overhaul it to match those colors. AHH! My sage cardigan came in handy, too. I've had this thing for several years (I bought it in every color at Target!) and it still holds up 'til this day. Best $17 spent, I think.

I'm still super squinty in these photos, too. Still unable to rock the contacts + mascara, and my eyes can't hang with any sort of sunlight. I'm really hoping it passes by the time The Creativity Summit rolls around because otherwise I'll either be squinting to the high heavens or rocking some serious sunglasses on stage. (Eep!) If any of you have ever had a corneal ulcer, I'd love to hear if you have any home treatment/remedy ideas! The eyedrops that I have for it feel like they make it worse, so I've been skimping on them. I didn't realize how common these sort of ulcers are, but I'll just go ahead and say this: I will do everything in my power to never ever ever get one again! haha You can get them just by sleeping in your contacts overnight, so play it safe, friends!

Today I'll be working on our new house, finishing up a "How To Jux" guide for the blog, and formatting February's big giveaway! Next month's prize is a super sweet (hint!) one and it's perfect for the lovey-dovey February. Anyone else as excited about oversized stuffed animals, flowers, and pink/red as I am?! Valentine's Day is my favorite (!!!) holiday. No shame!

// Chantilly Songs // Feature + Giveaway

Hello, friends of Kaelah Bee!  My name is Chantilly.  I'm a singer/ songwriter and lifestyle blogger over at ChantillySongs.com.  A few years ago, I got into the blogging game with the intention of talking about and promoting my music more.  But somewhere along the line, I realized how much I enjoyed sharing everyday adventures, posting photos of daily outfits, and otherwise documenting my life.  Now I take pride in blogging these things almost every day, and chronicling my journey as a creative gal living in Brooklyn, NY.

Today, I'm here to talk a little about my most recent (and proudest) accomplishment- my new CD, called the Up to the Moon EP.  It's a collection of five songs, which the producer and I worked hard on for a number of months (he's a pretty cool guy, being Ingrid Michaelson's keyboardist, and recently doing engineering work for the Beasts of the Southern Wild score!!)  The work we created has been called an "Acoustic curtsy for the pained at heart" by Performer Magazine, used in videos for Blowfish Shoes, and placed high in the recent Deli NYC's new Songwriter Poll.  :)

As such, I'm offering up a giveaway consisting of these items-
My most recent CD
My previous cd, Caught LightA paperback journal(hand bound with ribbon & printed with lyrics from one of my songs)A $20 ad space on my blog

// One Dress / Five Ways - FIVE

The fifth and final installation of the LCH x LuLu*s LBD challenge! I honestly wasn't sure that I was going to like this pairing, because it's a bit hard for me to imagine how garments will lay on my oddly-proportioned self. BUT with that being said, this ended up being a top contender. I don't wear a lot of knit sweaters or oversized items, but I do love pairing black and brown. This outfit ended up being a great recipe for all of those things. I wore this out and about yesterday (I got dressed twice this week!) to pick up the junk we ripped out of the new house and to haul it off. Yes, I was carting rolls of carpet and flooring in this... a bit odd but you do what you gotta do.

This little area/backdrop is one of the sheds in our new backyard. Can I admit something that will make me sound a bit foolish? When we first looked at the house I immediately got excited about the 2 rustic sheds in the back because they'd make great outfit photo backdrops... ha. Yeahhh. Don't judge me. Rustic is the perfect way to describe our new surroundings, that's for sure.

I've been wearing my Tumbleweeds sunglasses non-stop these past few weeks. They're the perfect shade of dark to keep my eyes comfortable during the day. They're having an Instagram flash sale on Monday, too! Maybe I can get my hands on one of those beautiful rounded pairs. Swoon! You can't see it all that well in the photos (whoops!) but I'm also wearing a little instagram brooch. Mustard hints for winter, a favorite!

This weekend we're headed back up to our house in Nashville to try and sort through what's left. A lot of stuff will get tossed, donated, and possibly sold off. We're selling off our huge sectional and handmade window-coffee table on Craigslist, so if you're on the hunt, let me know! We've tossed around the idea of having a garage sale either the first or second weekend of February (probably the 2nd?) but if that pans out I'll gladly share the info here. We won't be living there anymore so sharing the address will be less sketchy haha
