Tiered Lemon + Sage

Fall in Line by Lisa Mitchell on Grooveshark

Today's post was supposed to be my October Sub-Box Recap but to be honest, I'm feeling a little bit over the whole thing. I canceled my GlossyBox last month after getting fed up with spending $20/mo on stuff I typically didn't like, and I just can't really get past the MyGlam/Ipsy owner's reputation. BirchBox is the one I've liked the most overall and I'll still get it for a while considering I prepaid a full year up front. I have the post already written and formatted, so I may still post it later this week if I'm running behind, but I think I'll just be sticking with StitchFix + BirchBox for a while. (Speaking of SF, I stopped getting them for a couple of months so I could deal with wedding stuff, and I'm excited to get one in the mail again later this week!)

I've been holding onto this dress for a while now. Not sure why it took me so long to photograph it. Probably lines up with the ~5 weeks or so I didn't do any outfit posts thanks to living in pajamas + my hair staying up in a bun during the wedding hype. It feels nice to be able to put some effort into my appearance now. When I first got this dress from Eshakti I wanted to order it in every single color! It's that comfortable. It's a flattering fit and I loved the tiered colored skirt. The sage cardigan just went so perfectly with it (in my opinion). I opted to wear my Blowfish Gavinas to tie it all together. (Apologies for not looking at the camera at all in these. I had a bad case of allergies and the sun was reflecting behind Mike and I kept sneezing or making *the worst* faces ever haha)

Today I'll be organizing my workspace a bit (at least trying to) and getting started on some design work. I had a client reschedule last minute so I have a single opening for this week if interested! Shoot me an email (kaelahbee@gmail.com) and we'll chat!

Hope all of you on the East/NE coast are staying safe! Actually, I doubt you're reading blogs right now so...

Pale + Peach

Welcome to a brand new week, honeybees! It was a busy one for us, but I'm growing rather fond of picking up the office workload each week. Ha, Wonder how long that will last!? We took these photos last week around East Nashville when the weather grew a bit warm again. I constantly wonder if the rest of America has weather as fickle as we do. It was a nice excuse to break out a lightweight dress and pair it with a new peach + gold cardigan. Granted this dress is far shorter than I typically dare to wear, but I was feeling fancy. I wish I had more detailed photos of the dress because these pictures do it no justice! It's a beautiful light cream color and the bottom is chiffon while the top has a mesh collar and back. The back is actually a racerback style and as silly as this is going to sound, I love the heavy duty exposed metal zipper in the back. This cardi is also dreamy! It has little sequins sewn into it, but my favorite detail is the gold chain around the collar and center front. Perfect excuse to layer on entirely too many gold bangles and even it all out with some neutral grey shoes and scarf. Okay, real talk -- how on earth do you fold a large square silk scarf?! I spent more than my fair share of time looking up good ways to wear them and the only thing I came up with that didn't look silly on me was tying it on my bag and wearing it as a headwrap. This outfit didn't call for a twisted headband look but I actually really like it and plan to implement that soon! The scarf is seriously silkkkyyyy smooth (duh, because it's silk haha) but the quality is really really nice. I wasn't sure how the graphic typography would work within my wardrobe but I like it as a little flyaway bag accessory! I actually kept it on my purse for another outfit coming up next week, too.

This week I'm giving myself a challenge: get in the kitchen and make something. Anything! Seriously... anything. I'm notoriously bad in the kitchen. I even managed to screw up whipped cream (I know. Ugh) But since that's one thing that I'm really really bad at, I told Mike I want to make a conscious effort to get better! I'm trying to get in the kitchen to make at least one thing a week. Even if it's a total fail, I want to say I tried. This week I'm making banana bread (from the cookbook Mike's aunt made me! It's full of family recipes that have been passed down. I seriously cherish it and I want to put it to good use!) I promise to share what I end up accomplishing. Maybe blogging about it will help keep me accountable haha

This week we're gearing up for Halloween! Hoping to include pumpkin carving with friends (even if we are a bit late to the game), firepits in the backyard, and taking Toby trick or treating. We haven't decided exactly where we'll take him, but I'm eager to see that little man all dressed up (as Batman!) and overjoyed at buckets full of candy. We still have candy of his left over from Easter! Probably time we threw that out... but at least we're good at rationing it! Here's to a happy and productive week!

Lavender + Honey

Well, hello Autumn. Finally in full force, showing the leaves and colors in all their glory. It seems the leaves changed a whole lot quicker this year. I tend to find myself disappointed in them not turning until mid-November, but they didn't let me down this time around. We decided to poke around Shelby Park before taking Toby to the playground. These were shot on Wednesday after a productive and enjoyable day. I managed to start, design, code and install an entire blog layout in the morning, then I took some time to myself to get a little "dolled up". ("Dolled up" in Kaelah-speak just means I curled my hair haha!) I drove over to Maya's house and we decided margaritas were a must. We found a cozy table on the front porch of El Mariachi and we margarita'd it up. Seriously y'all, if you're in Nashville, go have a strawberry margarita there. I've never had one better! We caught up on all the fun life drama since I hadn't hung out with her since the wedding week. It was good fun. After a few hours there I headed home to run errands with the fellas and we moseyed on over to Shelby Park (as seen here). All in all? Lovely day!

Wednesday felt like it needed something extra, so I opted for heels. Err, wedges. Whatever they are. I find myself more comfortable with "louder" shoes in the Autumn and Winter, so don't be surprised if I dust off my ugly shoe collection. (Obvz by loud I mean anything that isn't a flat ha) I know this outfit isn't anything revolutionary, and it's pretty standard for me, but seriously: I love it. The mustard, the green, the purple. I love it. This jacket and this cardigan are officially two of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe. That lace collar, c'mon! It felt nice to feel good, ya know?

This bag is one that I've had for a while now. I picked it up on Edition01 a while back. I like it because it's HUGE and sturdy, and also because it's beautifully made. It's a Flea Bag and it's a limited run of only 155. I ended up taking it to Mexico with me and realizing that was such a dumb move because I don't want it to ever get dirty ha. I'm lucky it's not already trashed, but I'm trying to keep it nice. Just looking at these photos makes me hear the satisfying crunch of the leaves underfoot. I need to make it a priority to get the boys together so we can all go shoot some Autumn photos. Having pictures of Toby rolling in the leaves is a must!

Today we're packing up Honeybean and towing her down to Chattanooga! We'll be set up at Chatty Crafty tomorrow from 10am til 6pm so we'd love it if you came out to support us! You know, provided you live in/around Chattanooga! haha We've never done the CC event but we're crossing our fingers it's a good one. Now that the wedding dust has finally settled we can devote more time to our true love: that sweet little camper. Sunday Toby will be going to visit his grandparents so I'm hoping Mike and I can sneak in a little movie date. It's been SO LONG since Mike and I went on a "date" together. (You know, excluding those 9 days we just spent in Mexico together haha!) But we realllly want to see Pitch Perfect! Have any of you seen it yet?! I LOVE Rebel Wilson, so I've been dying to go! Let's hope it works out so we can catch a matinee since we'll only have a few hours! Cheaper movie ticket = extra Raisinets for me, yes?! Happy (almost) weekend! How are you spending it?!
