G.I. Jane

Something happened in my sleep that left me 110% drained upon waking. I got more than enough sleep last night (which could be the culprit) but I've also been having the strangest dreams ever. They're logical, but bizarre. Last night I was boogie boarding down a pretty quick (but small) river... Then that river turned into a weird land area and then a river and then a pier to a lake. what? Haha Believe me, this girl has watched a few too many River Monsters and has a slightly ridiculous fear of rivers. I won't be boogie boarding down one soon... I need to start keeping a dream journal of sorts so I can remember the crazy thing my brain thinks up when I'm in slumber. Any of y'all have regularly occurring weird dreams?

This outfit was shot last Wednesday morning when I had the sudden hankering to wear some of my ugly shoes. They've gone a little unnoticed the past couple of months since I'm nervous to wear huge platforms while out and about with a toddler. I decided this day to just throw caution to the wind and do it. Luckily everything went smoothly (you know, until walking down our backyard and falling face over foot...) This dress is a new favorite from LuLu*s and I love it. It might look like an ordinary ol' cotton dress but it's the best material... it's like a really dense mesh and the weight of it is perfect. I hate wearing super lightweight dresses because the wind always takes them for a ride, but this one was heavy enough to feel substantial and safe. I was having a hard time finding a cardigan that looked good with the outfit so Mike picked this one out. Pretty impressive!

Today I plan on drinking all of the coffee in the world (Seriously. All of it.), working on a design commission, making wedding lists galore (We finally started our guest list last night!), and hanging out with some super fab friends before loading up for work. Crossing my fingers that this weekend is worlds better than last... Happy weekend! and Happy June! New sponsors will be up in just a few!

  1. Lord, yes! I usually link my crazy dreams to eating bananas, though. Apparently something in there contributes to strange dreams?

  7. Dreams are you subconscious talking. Pay attention to them and look for key things (colors, objects, people) that stand out and look into them. You can really learn a lot from your dreams. :)

  11. I have crazy dreams Every. Single. Night. It's completely exhausting.

I have a Target dress just like this but I can't stand the really thick sleeves. I'll have to belt it and wear a cardigan to see if it looks as amazing as this.

  16. THOSE SHOES sdbgfdshbgf <3 I want a pair xD
I always have weird dreams, most which occur in bizarre, reoccurring settings. Like a strange mall that has a tree in it xD

  17. I adore this look of stripes and spikes, this is such a cute dress. I gnerally have pretty crazy dreams although last nights dream wasn't exactly crazy, I dreamt of Alcide from True Blood again. I think I can pretty much declare him a celeb crush since this is like the third time I've dreamt of him... I sound like a nut. Anyway, I enjoy having crazy dreams, it's like having access to your own personal movie. If you're looking for a little insight to your dreams, although I'm not certain how accurate this is, I use dreammoods.com sometimes.

  19. Love this outfit, absolutely beautiful. I love hearing about other people's dreams - it's like seeing into their minds a little bit. I usually have amazing dreams - I like to think of dreaming as an addition to my 'day' life, but for the last wee while I've not had any. So disappointing xo

    Anyways, your dress is great!

  26. dream journals are THE BEST! seriously. just keep a little notebook by your bed and write your dreams RIGHT after you wake up. you will not be disappointed. they're so fun to read when you're bored (which is probably never- toddler... gaah!)
but you can also kind of psychoanalyze yourself with the dreams. i know. it's not really the best thing to do- but it can be fun haha.
in most of my dreams, i can do this extreme moon walk. like with the smallest amount of effort i can bounce myself off the ground, high enough to pass the clouds. so cool.

also- i love your shoes. i wish oh wish upon a star that i could walk in such contraptions.

  28. Those shoes add the perfect touch of badassness to the dress and cardigan combo. Love it!

I have crazy dreams practically every night, and none of them ever make any sense. A few nights ago I dreamed I was on the Titanic with Jack Sparrow and we were attacked by vampires.

  29. Oh gosh, weird dreams are tough. Mine have revolved around zombie attacks and tornadoes lately. Something to do with watching Walking Dead I think. The result is that in my dreams I have worked out my emergency strategies for such eventuations - odd as we don't have tornadoes in Australia!

I love the dress - you look super cute in it. As for the shoes, you are a braver woman than I! x

  30. Those shoes are fabulous! I also have been having bizarre dreams and thinking I need to keep a journal. I always have a lot of dreams about zombies - but I kick ass in them, as I would in a real zombie Apocalypse.

  31. I have crazy dreams from time to time too. And I wake up really exhausted in the morning.
And to the ensemble - I absolutely love the dress with the cardi and the boots are amazing too.

  32. You look amazingly badass! I love the dress, and your "ugly" shoes. I'm always having bizarre & incredibly vivid dreams. In high school I used to have incredibly graphic dreams about serial killers every night. :-/ I'm glad I don't get them anymore!
