It's so cliche, but this past year I've experienced somethings that have made me realize how short life really is and how important the people we love really are to us... So the one thing in life that makes me truly happy is spending as much time doing whatever with my family and friends.
Just a few weeks ago I spent my first overnight in the hospital (at the age of 24) because I have a blood clot in my lung... it was scary and kind of made me put a lot of stuff into perspective. I have realized that the silly little things are what really make me happy, ice cream being on sale, making a new recipe and having my fantastic cook boyfriend like it, waking up because the dog is snoring so loud in my bed. I guess I'm trying to look at the good little things more now :-)
P.S. I made my boyfriend bring my computer to the hospital during my second day there so I could read your blog... I read it from start to finish... kept me pretty good company!
Having people that are awesome (online & off) in my life that inspire me to be a better person, when I inspire others, peppermint mochas, an etsy sale, a new follower, that my room mate gave our puppy dog a mohawk, seeing my boyfriend on Skype each night, sun shine, good food, good friends, etc. etc.
Hope you're enjoying your time on vacation! Hope Toby is having a blast too!!!!!
My animalfriends, nature, finding something I love but I didn't expect (like, a beautiful bug on a flower or something at a thriftstore), drawing something I don't hate, colors, a random day with my best friend, finishing a project, productivity, being on a boat, lying in bed while reading a good book and a cat purring beside me, compliments, feminism, pretty fabrics, good food, my mom.
Sunshine, coffee,a good book,a funny movie, taking a bubble bath, writing, taking pictures, walking in the woods, being surrounded by positive people instead of negative nancy's (although that's not always possible sometimes...) :)
Drinking coffee in the morning. Sleeping in. Working out instead of sleeping in because I know I'll feel better after I work out. Eating ice cream. Writing. Spending an hour blogging that I should be studying. Buying new bras and dresses when I don't need new ones. Working a long shift and knowing I just pocketed a lot of money. When a work shift goes fast. Saying what's on my mind without thinking of how someone will react.
I would have to say just laying on my bed or the couch and reading blogs. Hash browns. Crafting. My fiance. Coffee. The first nice day of summer! The first snow fall!
Meeting new people : ) It's just like buying a mystery bag. You never know what you're gonna get! (or in this case what a person's like) Sometimes it's awesome, like finding exactly what you wanted. Other times it's a nice surprise, like when you find a toy that you weren't too excited about , but then it becomes your favorite toy, or like meeting someone who unexpectantly becomes really important in your life. And a few times you get the really horrible suprises... But anyways, my point is, the fun is in not knowing! : ) And that makes me happy. <3 Jenny Emm
Kittens, coffee, reading in bed on rainy days, watching live music, drinking cocktails with my friends, Thai food, helping others, taking off in a plane for an exciting holiday x
Spending time with my family; curling up with a good book, a mug of tea, and a purring cat; gloomy days; the sound of rain on my metal roof and thunder rumbling in the distance; the smell of books, old and new; shopping; cupcakes; drawing and writing; listening to my favorite music; being myself and dressing the way I want without caring what anyone has to say about it.
But also, there's: my lovely boyfriend, my sweet doggie, coffee dates with my best friend, napping when it is raining, attending classes for my major (anthropology), the tv show Bones, crafting, and traveling. :)
Doing Random Acts of Kindness! I was inspired by a woman who did 38 RAoK on her 38th birthday. Now my boyfriend and I are planning on bringing kites to kids at the park, giving ice cold waters and gatorade to homeless people and field workers and paying for coffee for the person behind us at Starbucks! Oh, and Chex Mix Muddy Buddies make me happy too! :-)
I thought about this alot recently, and i realised its something to do with engaging with people. if no1 looked me in the eye, if no1 smiled and laughed with me life would be meaningless.
Wheither its a good friend or someone i meet on the bus it means the world to me, and we all learn more about ourselves and new things from other people.
The kids in my class. It's the hardest job in the world but I never, ever have a day when I do not laugh until I cry. It's impossible to be unhappy when I am surrounded by those kids.
photography, blogging, reading blogs, sunshine, the beach, the forest, writing lists in pretty notebooks, reveling in God's creation, wearing pretty dresses and heels, watching BBC shows/mini series.
My boyf, family, friends, blogging, fashion, decorating, photography, college life... so many things! I love the above statement, but even I know things aren't always so black and white. There are some things that can make you happy and unhappy all at the same time :/ not trying to be a debbie downer lol, just sharing my thoughts!
1) knowing that I am saved by grace 2) having the Savior Jesus who loves me and is always there for me!! 3) listening to Jennifer Hudson sing on "dreamgirls" 4) hearing Joshua ledet sing "when a man loves a woman" 5) hanging out with friends and family 6) family dance nights :) 7) frozen yogurt
Kaelah - you asked us what makes US happy, but what makes YOU happy?
Gosh, I love that simple little framed quote :) trying harder to do more of what makes me happy and also trying to post more articles that promote my readers doing the same thing. Sometimes we all get caught up in the working world that we forget how much beauty there actually is in the world <3
Most things make me happy! Even crappy tasks make me happy if I have no buzzkill people around who like to whine. Basically, if everyone keeps things light and fun, most things make me happy! :)
My boyfriend surprising me with visits is always a wonderful thing, though!
Roasting marshmallows on a fire! That's what me & my friends did last night and then sat under the stars chatting for hours :) xx
ReplyDeleteTaking naps in the middle of the day! Totally indulgent and awesome!
