One of my favorite things to do when listening to music is to doodle the lyrics. I've done it for as long as I can remember. Sometimes I feel like my brain works backwards because the only way I can really pay attention to something is to have my hands do something else entirely. (This used to get me in a lot of trouble in school as it always appeared that I wasn't listening/was drawing instead.) I've been listening to a lot of Stars lately, the Five Ghosts album specifically (The last 2 drawings are from The Bedroom Diaries album). I'd like to take a series of photos (like above) to use in conjunction with my drawings, so I've been stockpiling lyrical doodles from various artists/albums. I'll have to share them as I add to the collection. Here are a few of my favorites from Stars, along with each song they go with.
I wish I were better at keeping up with all of my random doodles and drawings. My typefaces (like above) especially. I love drawing letters for some reason. Hope you enjoyed the tunes! ;)
ahh kaelah, i love stars! and the night starts here is such a beautiful song. your handwriting is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteall the best, stef
I did the exact same thing in class too!
ReplyDeleteFun post!
I really love this. I do this a lot. I do it when I'm watching movies too. Always writing in different 'fonts'.. such a nice idea. Love Elle xo
ReplyDeleteIt would be cool if you developed your own font style :D These are super cute. So cute it makes me think of cupcakes. Cupcake cute! <---random XD
ReplyDeletePAlease make a font of that beautiful handwriting!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE drawing letters too. I've never been one for drawing actual things, except letters. I've been doodling them for as long as I can remember.
ReplyDeleteThese are so pretty!! This handwriting is awesome I love it!
ReplyDeleteI would always get points marked off papers for doodling in every white space possible!
ReplyDeleteYou should really make that a font!
xoxo
Lovely, Stars are fantastic and it is always great to see people supporting independent Canadian music. Set Yourself on Fire (2004) is one of my all time favorite albums.
ReplyDeleteLove your letters. you should make them into a font if you haven't already.
ReplyDeleteI am a doodler too. I doodle on everything. my folders and textbooks in school where always full of doodles.
PS: love all the songs. they definitely go onto my playlist. thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI'm listening to music when I'm learning something for school or do any kind of work. It's so "relaxing" :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely idea! Think I might try this when I get around to ordering a graphics tablet x
ReplyDeleteEven though I love listening to music I'm sooo tone deaf it's not funny and for some reason I can never remember song lyrics (aside from completely improvised lyrics!) so this lovely idea might help me with that. I'm a huge fan of Stars but haven't listened to them for ages - have their album playing on repeat on Spotify now though so thanks for reminding me of how great they are :)
ReplyDeleteI love doodling too- especially while on phone calls. I wish I had kept up with some of mine- the longer the phone call- the more detailed the doodle.

I really, really love the Stars. I've got to see them a few times here in Oz and they were hauntingly good.
ReplyDeleteI do exactly the same thing when I listen to music! I've always done it- ever since I first really got into music as a teen.
ReplyDeleteI also have to doodle to pay attention. I always doodle when I make important phone calls as I hate using the phone and it calms me down a little.
