Home Inspiration

It's crazy for me to sit in our loft and think that this is our last week here. It's so incredibly bittersweet. We're so tickled to be moving across the river and to have a home, a fenced in yard (soon!), and a bathtub (!!!), but we can't help but sit in bed every night and tell each other how much we really love it here. We're not sure we'll ever live anywhere with this much character again, but who knows. Our loft totally isn't for everyone, but we love how "home sweet home" we made it feel. But we're also really excited to do that with our new house, too! I can't help but scour Pinterest on the daily for home projects that I want to sink my teeth into. I shared a few in a recent TiLT post but here are some things I'm hoping to give a whirl over the next several weeks (or just things I think are neat!)!

this inspiration board right behind the monitor ♥

this chic and minimal jewelry display ♥

this is exactly the look we're going for in the bedroom ♥

this would be perfect for our kitchen ♥

this DIY wreath made of shims ♥

this is a super cute storage/display idea ♥

this is another cute jewelry display idea ♥

♥ while i'd never do this much chalkboard in my kitchen, this is cute ♥

these pallet shelves are so cute! ♥

these beautiful handkerchiefs in frames ♥

♥ this has made me consider building a new desk for our bedroom ♥

♥ loving this wood on wood look! ♥

Do you have a specific aesthetic? (Better yet, do you + your partner agree on the same style/look of things?!) Mike is much more modern/minimal than I am, and I love shabby chic and feminine... It's always a fun tightrope to walk in our home! (At least he's handy with some power tools!)

Happy Tuesday! It's going to be a crazy week. xo

  2. I love it all! I think I may even build myself a desk! Rob has his own and I really need one for my crafts and I'll be getting my own computer soon!

  3. I LOVE that trellis idea for the kitchen. I know you'll miss your loft as it seems super cool - but you'll love your house for new reasons and just wait until Spring (which I think is already here) when you have flowers or a little garden. I wish that the Mister and I were ready to move. We would have just traded ya! My kitties would love that loft.

The Mister and I have the same aesthetic now which is more Mid-Century Modern + Kitsch. But at the beginning...not at ALL. He had all of those hand-me-down furniture from his folks and loved heavy dark wood and I was a 50's and 60's girl. I changed him though. : )

  5. We are on the same wavelength with housing. I lived in an industrial loft a few years ago and was so sad to part with it. And just last week, I bought a wee little 1903 cottage. I'll be curious to see what you do with your cottage. Decorations are a ways off for me; I need to renovate my entire house before I can begin to move in and fancify! Thank goodness Pinterest exists for storing ideas.

  6. I love all of this! I always feel like I change what I like - I like minimal, simplistic design but I also adore shabby, vintage, retro clutter haha! My other half and I normally agree. I think he'd step in if it got too pink or girly!

  7. We are on the same wavelength when it comes to housing. I live in an industrial loft a few years ago and had such a rough time parting with it - though now I'm glad to have more privacy. Last week, I bought a wee little 1903 cottage. I'll be so curious to see what you do with your cottage. I don't know about you, but storage is at a premium in my new abode. I'm actually in the process of renovating the place from top to bottom, so the fun stuff will have to wait. I'll be checking back to your blog for inspiration!

  10. I definitely think I'd have a mix of modern and a more shabby/thrifty aesthetic if I did have my own home to decorate! Love these images!

  11. We are sort of antiquey - vintagey. We have similar styles 99% of the time. Thankfully. We are lucky in that the vast majority of our furniture has been handed down from my husband's mother who grows tired of her lovely pieces very quickly and switches out furniture constantly. So we have bought maybe only 1 or 2 things in our house. The only stipulation when we buy is that he has to have a room of his own... I'm not for having his model airplanes he builds all over the place!!

  12. My guy and me are finally going to move in together in a couple of months...and I'm also searching for inspiration in every spare minute I can find.

I LOVE all that wood in the pictures above. That is exactly where I'm heading too :)
I Love the fact that you can make it all pretty and nice...but at the same time it has a old and natural feeling to it. Also, it's a material that guys can relate to too. (My boyfriend is in total panik because he thinks he will have to live in a totally womanized home from now on ^^ men)

all the wood and that kitchen rack (4th piture) are fabulous!

    thanks for sharing

  15. Steve has very little interest in home decor - as long as it's not pink, he'll go along with most of my ideas. That said, he also doesn't understand why it takes so much time (and sometimes money) to find furniture for our home - he'd be happy with cheap flatpack stuff whereas I like things with a bit of vintagey/shabby character!

  16. I almost dread the day when I am free to decorate my own house. I love spaces that look individual and lived in, but my partner is very minimalist and designer (think Ikea showroom).

Maybe there's something about dudes and functional living spaces?
