In Case You Were Wondering...

You are not your bra-size, nor are you the width of your waist, nor are you the slenderness of your calves. You are not your hair color, your skin color, nor are you a shade of lipstick. Your shoe-size is of no consequence. You are not defined by the amount of attention you get from males, females, or any combination thereof. You are not the number of sit-ups you can do, nor are you the number of calories in a day. You are not your mustache. You are not the hair on your legs. You are not a little red dress. You are no amalgam of these things.

You are the content of your character. You are the ambitions that drive you. You are the goals that you set. You are the things that you laugh at and the words that you say. You are the thoughts you think and the things you wonder. You are beautiful and desirable not for the clique you attend, but for the spark of life within you that compels you to make your life a full and meaningful one. You are beautiful not for the shape of the vessel, but for the volume of the soul it carries.

  3. Thank you for the words, "You are beautiful not for the shape of the vessel, but for the volume of the soul it carries." I'm putting them up on my idea board in my studio so I can read them every day!

  6. to have grown up with the man who wrote this, watched him in relationships and how he acts with his wife and child...to actually know Michael is an honor. I would encourage all of you to follow him on tumblr if you have one. Or on twitter (He's @ghostsaysboo). He's a wonderful person...takes wonderful photographs. I'm honored to call him my brother. It's weird that his words (after he called me a dork all my life) inspire me to love myself more.

  7. love it. i just went to nordstrom to buy a new bra yesterday, and once again, i'm a bigger size than I was last time. at 24 I keep thinking, damn, will this ever stop?
I love fashion, I love dressing up, but I don't like attention, and I especially don't like attention for my ever growing bra size. I don't like the commentary I have heard through the grape vine that boys have placed upon me. In high school it was "that alternative girl with big boobs." or "that weird girl with big boobs." I tried get a breast reduction at 18, crying to my doctor. but he said I would keep growing and that i should wait until I am at least 25.

I am glad he told me to wait because in those years since breaking down to my doctor about the name calling, the heart ache, the embarrassment, I have learned to just say, ok, this is me. this is my body. I am not ashamed. I know in my heart that I don't want attention for for curves. And I can't stop gossip or harsh words from others. all i can do is say, it is ok, i still love myself. I am proud of the unique person I am, outside and most importantly inside. I don't envision my inner self to be any different than my outer self because I want to believe that all of me is true, is me, is beautiful.

i love this post. its true. and I am thankful that, though these boobies give me physical pain sometimes, they have have taught me through emotional pain that I am strong, tough, and proud of every inch of me. I am not ashamed.

Loving your blog sweet girl. :)

  12. I love that this gentleman wrote these words...and I love that you shared them with us all on your blog. I recently did a post of my own self acceptance of my frame, and how I love my body. I love my body because it learned how to walk again at 27 following spine surgery. I love it because its fluffy and comfy, and I look great in my clothes. But I love that I am a bigger lady while in my 30's because it allowed me to break all my idea's from my teenage years and 20's and see what is really important in life...and what true beauty is. These idea's on aesthetics have shaped how I am designing my clothing line. I will clothe all sizes....and show the beauty of each person who honors me by wearing clothes I make...the clothes do not make the person...but the clothes I make is for the person wearing them. People are the most important thing. Lovely, Kaelah...just lovely. Hearts, janna lynn
