Two If By Sea

This is a dress I picked up at H&M when Mike and I first visited Susannah & Chris back in June. I had seen SB wear it and I thought it was darling. Of course being that it was from H&M meant only that I was to never have it in my grasp. The fact Nashville still doesn't have an H&M is really beyond me. Anyway, on our drive up there I found it in the store for a whopping $10. They also had the pink version (and I bought it. So did Susannah!) It's pretty safe to say that we have a ton of the same dresses. We thought it'd be fun to style this one up each and share how the other did it!

I paired mine with a mustard American Rag jacket I thrifted last year and some caramel colored Charlotte Russe flats (also thrifted). I thought the blue was an absolute perfect match for this sweet travel bag I scored for all of 15 cents! There really wasn't much to it, but I really liked this outfit! You'll be seeing quite a bit of yellow on the blog in the next few outfits so brace yourself!

Susannah looked darling in her pea-green cardi and bow flats (I was wearing the same flats not 10 minutes before we took these pictures. I decided to switch them out at the last minute haha!) The blue tights are so not something I would've thought of, but she pulls them off perfectly. If you wanna read more about her outfit and all that jazz, pop over to her blog and check it out!

How would you style this dress?

American Rag jacket (thrifted)
Charlotte Russe flats (thrifted)
Hive + Honey fascinator
Thrifted bag

PS; Peep the picture on the left in the 1st collage (under the top image up there!)... That's my "mawdul" face haha! Mike told me to give him my best model pout so that's what I went for. There were a few outtakes of me doing the "prune" lip pursing like MK&A. Ridiculous! Don't worry, I know I look comical!

PPS; Susannah and I (and Chelsea!) totally think those are abstract sailboats on the dress. Do you agree?! They have to be. Just because I said they are.

  4. Oh yay! I have the same dress as you guys. I found it during sales, and I was so proud of my lucky find!

Too bad it's way to chilly to wear it. I guess it has to wait until next summer.

  5. I LOVE that dress!!!! FF (Fun fact) I totally just thrifted a similar jacket in blue with bows-I literally stared at it this morning and thought about wearing it but I had to get to work and didn't have time to style it! Also, I just bought a travel bag as well and I thought I got an awesome deal on it until I read that you found yours for 15 cents-epic fail on my part-I paid $10. Oh wellll I love it! Super adorable dress btw-I love the way in which you both styled it so differently, yet similarly, if that makes any sense!?

  6. Yes, looks like abstract sail boats to me. :) I adore the dress paired with the mustard yellow! It makes the colos on the dress pop out even more! Your hair (and blush) look so good. :)

Also, are they NOT abstract sailboats?! That was totally my first thought. That or er, water birds. (I am drawing a total blank here. Hur dur.)

  15. I scored that dress for $10 too and I looove it! Half the reason why I bought it was because I thought it had a sailboat print. I never would have thought of pairing it with yellow though. I'll have to try that now.

I also love how you and Susannah kept to the same colour scheme when accessorizing that dress. Great minds think alike... especially when your best friends! :)

  24. It's just so cute! I love how you've paired it with the yellow. I am actually realllly looking forward to seeing your winter outfits, I really love your style (we dress similar in some ways - dresses ALL the time haha) but I am not that great at putting together winter outfits with dresses. I am sure you have a million ways! x

  27. haha yeah I think they were going for sailboats. If I styled this, I would wear it with black tights and a red cardigan. Even though that does not match whatsoever.

  30. Lovely outfit and dress! At first glance I thought they were sharks in the dress! Maybe they came to my mind because I know you like sharks. :) But they are too "tall" for them (too bad, shark dress would be so coool!) so abstract sailboats it is!
