Mike and I don't really have many traditions set into our relationship yet. We have a few here and there but nothing specifically Autumn themed.. well, until now! Last week we experimented with baking pie and we're kind of in love! We baked a big apple pie and 8 baby apple pies (with help from my Babycakes cupcake maker!). We gave the mini pies to Brian, Christina and his dad as a little going away present. (They moved back to Iowa yesterday. Our hearts are broken! But we did get to ask them to be in our wedding party! Hooray!). We've been pairing our apple pie with yummy vanilla bean ice cream for a sweet treat late in the day and I am sold!
We're already dreaming up fun new recipes to try! We'll be baking more this week so I'll be sure to snap some photos and share a recipe or two as we go!
We've also decided, as of last Thursday, (drumroll please!) that we are going to have pies at our Autumn 2012 wedding in place of cake/cupcakes! Pies! So very perfect! Here are a few drool worthy Pinterest photos for you to oogle!
Are you hungry yet?! That will about do it for my little mini Wedding Wednesday on a Sunday! We're heading off to my high school best friend's wedding today so I'm excited to see her! Stay tuned for some yummy stuff this week! ;) Happy Sunday! xo
Those pie pops are the cutest!! Paired with vanilla bean ice cream too? Uggh, that sounds too good. If only I could eat pie instead of toast for breakfast! ;) haha.

ReplyDeleteThat's so funny I just made some mini pies last week!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if you make your own pie crust or if you buy pre-made ones, but if you do make your own I highly recommend this pie crust recipe because it is probably the best crust I have ever tried. And it is super easy to make, which is always a plus :)

ReplyDeleteLOVE THIS! though prolly not the best idea to read at lunch time when I am already hungry. Stomach is rumbling now! They all look delish. Love the idea for pies at your wedding!! The pie pops are my fav, too cute. I didn't wanna do the typical cake either, I did a cupcake tower with a brownie cake on top which was so me. I had a replica of my husbands guitar made for his groom cake. Red Velvet. Mmm!
ReplyDeleteAhhh, pies at a wedding, I've never heard of it before but that's such a great idea! And I sure do you post about how to make mini pies like you mentioned, because I really want to try to make some myself now.

mini pies!! how perfect are they?! I love baking and made the biggest apple pie for her birthday - it was gone within an hour. Although making pie crust from scratch can get a little annoying.. but homemade pies are simply to die for :)
ReplyDeleteYum pie!! I haven't made homemade pies in ages but this just might convince me to bake one soon...sweet idea having pies at your wedding! It would suit the autumn weather perfectly :)

ReplyDeleteThat's so fun you are going to have wedding pie! My husband and I aren't big cake fans, so we served pie and vanilla Bluebell ice cream at our wedding. There is a pie bakery here in Seattle, so we had all different flavors, and people loved it! Good luck with all of your planning. I am excited to see all that you come up with. I'm sure you guys will have such a beautiful wedding!
