Fortune Cookie Questions

We pulled into Chicago last night around 8pm and we brought "gifts" for Susannah + Chris. I had already asked Susannah to be one of my bridesmaids back when I thought I wasn't going to have a Maid of Honor. For me, MOH isn't a title that should be used to gauge how important a friend is or anything like that. I never wanted my bridesmaids to feel like I liked one of them over the other. All six ladies that I'm going to have in my bridal party are stellar, sweet, funny gals that I'm excited to share that day with. Anyway, I had the idea to ask her (+ Mike ask Chris) via fortune cookie because that's kind of "our thing"... Aquariums and fortune cookies. We have every single fortune saved from when we first started dating. Okay so they're in a box, not really doing anything, but we're determined to figure out something cute to use them for! Anywhoo - Mike's stepmom got us some yummy gourmet fortune cookies for Christmas so I swapped out the fortunes very carefully for ones I made at home. We put them in little mini takeout boxes and had them open them at the end. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out!

If you aren't following Susannah's blog, you're missing out. We're pretty much the same person. Now it's time for some lunch. xo

  2. I saw this last night, such a cute idea!!!

Have you thought about framing your other fortunes? I did that with stamps (http://www.smittenandhazel.com/2010/10/simple-framing-diy/) and it turned out pretty nice, you can get a big frame and stick them on to display! ;)

  3. This is a super cute idea! I asked my girls via notecards that I designed since I couldn't be there in person. I had worried about asking someone to be my MOH - two out of the crew of bridesmaids I had, had me as their MOH but the reason I chose my one friend that didn't make me her MOH is because she's like a sister to me and she's the reason my husband and I met for the first time :)

  6. What an adorable way to ask! I am still on the fence about whether I want a maid of honor or not. I know which girls I want to be my bridesmaids, but they've each been there and important at different times of my life and in such different ways that it would seem unfair to elevate one to MOH status and not the others. Plus, having been one girl's MOH myself makes me feel a tad obligated, but I guess only time will tell! And there's plenty of that to figure it all out :)

Hope you're having a great trip!

  10. This is super cute! Love the idea! When (if) I get married, I want to do a little gift box with all the things the girls will need, then at the very bottom of the box, have a card asking the big question :P

Have you picked out your wedding colors/theme yet, girlie?

  23. Eeee what a cute way to ask them to be a part of your wedding, it makes it so much more special! I feel a little lame about how I ask my bestie to be my maid of honor, we were in line for the new Harry Potter film, haha! But I don't think she would have had it any other way :)
