I Pledge Allegiance

This is what I wore on Sunday, sort of. You see, I'm the type of gal who blogs what I really wear. I don't style up outlandish outfits and then blog them, then strip them off and wear something more practical... No, I blog what I actually wear on a day to day basis. So that's where all of my cardigans, dresses, tights and flats come in (well, I've weaned myself from flats everday!) I love reading fashion blogs but I constantly find myself wondering if they really wore that out and about to go do this, that or the other. Some gals have a knack for walking in sky high stilettos, but I am not that girl. (Confession: I was walking in from shooting these and I totally face planted in the hallway of our building and was rolling all around. Mike proceeded to laugh at me, point out how impractical my JCs are and then he helped me up... ha!)  Okay, well, with that being said, you can imagine I didn't actually wear these while on our date day Sunday. Nope. Know why? Because I would've pulled the same stunt in the movie theater and it's a little less embarrassing for my dress to be over my head in the comfort of my own home as opposed to in front of all of Franklin! I was feeling saucy yesterday though as I was trying to recreate the outfit but my bag was in the car, my white belt had gone missing and I don't even remember what shoes I donned. Instead, I opted to throw practicality to the wind and knock some dust off of my darling Daisy Ds.

I didn't want to play up the nautical side of this outfit too much because I'm sitting in a very nautical dress this very moment. Two nautical pieces in a row wouldn't be kosher right? (Isn't it strange how we curate our blogs and outfits like a finely tuned museum?! It's not just me, yeah?) I didn't do it on purpose, but stripping myself of two pairs of tights only to redress is kind of not what I wanna do right now haha!

You can spot some of the many bug bits all over my arms and legs. I'm red from scratching and swatting and cursing those darn bugs. Between the cicadas, overwhelming heat and humidity, and the mosquitos, now you know why I rarely leave the blessing of air conditioning in the summer. Tennessee is brutal!

I was startled awake by an insanely huge storm this morning at about 4:30. We had left one of our windows open a bit for some fresh air and I realized that hail was raining down on our little plants by the window. I woke up Mike and he rushed over to close it while the entire house was illuminated with the brightest lightning. Thunder was rumbling, the wind was incredibly high, and the rain just kept coming. It had been lighting since about 9pm when we got home from the grocery store last night. It was a beautiful show in the sky. It was just breaking across the clouds like something I have never seen before. But I definitely wasn't prepared for this morning! I love thunderstorms, however. But Mike is rather weary of tornados. When I got on twitter this morning I saw a few of my friends tweeting photos from East Nashville (just across the river from where we live, about 2 miles away total) and trees were down, cars were crushed, and it was even a trending topic on Twitter! Hopefully everyone is okay over there! It's amazing how one part of town can be fine while the other gets devestated. This weather has been something else!

Today's agenda is uncertain. But I know I have a lot to do. Hopefully that includes getting back to hot yoga tonight after my weekend break. I'll be kicking myself if I don't go! After a few day break I know it'll be hard to readjust to that heat. Off to drink some water!

  2. This is why I don't post my daily outfits. If I make something I'll post me wearing it, but what I wear on a day-to-day basis is boring. I'm a mom to an 11 month old, anything I wear is going to get baby food or spit up on it....and can you picture me in heels toting around a 25 lb child?
I think you make a great point. I dont want to just put on an outfit to show off and take it ff later, so I just dont bother blogging about my clothing and shopping.

On another note, I love those shoes!!!

  3. I love the colours in this outfit as well as the outfit itself c:
I'm not a heel girl either - Is it just me or is it always the nicest pair of shoes that are the most impractical!? c: xx

  4. I'm not good in stilettos, either. It doesn't help that they're totally bad for your feet, unless you get them altered. Wedges I can do, though, as long as the arch is not way too sloped. But a good, medium height is nice :) I think the support that the continuous sole gives helps. Such a cute outfit!

  5. Love this outfit...and i would've totally fell on my face wearing those shoes (so cute though)!

  6. I'm embarrassed to say that I cannot walk in heels AT ALL. I desperately try, but the most I can manage is a slight wedge heel. I also have really narrow feet, so my feet have a tendency to slip out and make things kind of uncomfortable.

But with that said, I lovelovelove that cardigan. Super cute.

If you don't mind me asking, what size shoe do you wear?

  7. Loves it!!!! I just started fashion blogging as well I go for clothes that are affordable and not outlandish high priced designers.

  8. Those shoes are amazing, but I can definitely see how they'd be difficult to walk in!

  9. This outfit is soo cute!! I actually wear everything I post ... except the shoes. I almost ALWAYS change into flats before I walk out of the house. I used to wear wedges and heels all through high school, and can walk in them fine, but for some reason I've gotten really used to being shorter than everyone while I'm out and don't like how tall I feel in heels.

That being said, since I work from home I do tend to prance around the house in my heels when I'm home alone, since I don't have to worry about feeling taller than anyone else. And it helps me reach the tall shelves in the kitchen ;-D

  10. Sometimes I just get dolled up for the pictures, but it's usually to try out an idea I have in my head and sometimes it just doesn't end well enough to go out in public:)

  12. You look absolutely gorgeous, the heart print cardigan is so lovely paired with the blue dress and wedges! hahaha I agree, I do sometimes wonder if fashion bloggers go about their daily lives in some of their more 'out there' outfits and super high heels. Maybe they do! I know if I am walking very far I have to wear flats or I will be in so much pain! xxx

  13. i agree. i only blog what i really wear as well.
reason why i only blog twice a week..since i work from home and work out at the gym everyday i am always in workout clothing. sucks, but it's real life. :P

those shoes are amazing. seriously. i might need them in my life. <3<3<3

  14. Love this outfit, you paired so well with the shoes. That heart cardi is super cute. And I could totally see those shoes with some knee high stockings...*sigh* ... I only blog what I actually wear too. But sometimes I change my shoes ;P

  15. I love those shoes! Ah, no matter what you pair them with they're always perfect. I have one pair of wedges that I wear often and a heeled pair of black ankle boots- that's it for me and heels! I'm already 5'8" as it is, so flats have always been my shoe of choice! (& I can be clumsy, too!)

You got me thinking on my outfit posts! I post what I wear, not always on the exact day, but it's what I wore. And if on rare occasion it isn't, I usually say something about it on my blog. I'm with you on people just playing dress up and not actual wearing what they blog!

  23. hey! i totally have that cardi, except mine has black hearts. :)

  25. That's the cutest cardigan! I'm going to be showing what I'm wearing throughout June (terrifying!) and I already know that I'm going to be anxiously trying to mix up my outfits. Please expect Tuesdays to be BORING!

  26. Just like you, I also blog what I really wear.. And I don't wear stilettos.. The highest heels I've ever worn is just 9cm. But I can do wedges.. They're much comfortable than heels for me.. For some occasion and when I know that I have to walk far, I prefer to wear my flats.

Anyway, I love your outfit.. You're so pretty wearing this outfit.. I adore your wedges.. :)

  27. ~ * ♥ * ~

I love your JC's Kaelah ~ they are absolutely gorgeous. I agree with you though; I don't like blogging outfits that I don't actually wear which is why I only do an outfit post about once a week!

That and I don't want my blog to be all about outfits, so having 1/4 of my content about outfits is enough for me even though sometimes I do want to do more and probably would except for aforesaid wanting to keep outfit posts balanced. :D

  28. Your hair looks amazing! yikes about the storm, that sounds really scary. I just got home from traveling around the US for five weeks in an RV and I was terrified of all the tornadoes. We don't really get storms like that where I am in Aus. Luckily we missed them though! Glad your house is ok :)

Yes. I'm desperately wishing I had that dress, belt, and cardigan. So patriotically perfect!

  31. You are so adorable in all of your outfits. I love those shoes..but the only place I could wear them is sitting at home..not even walking! Hubby takes a photo of me when he can tell I am dressed the way that makes me feel good. Other times..he says here, add this to your "what NOT to wear file" It's usually good advice.
