Stitch Fix : #7 + #9

There'd be a #8 here but I didn't have a chance to photograph it. I know, I really dropped the ball on this one! Things were really crazy in June, and so far July has been no different. It's a happy busy though, so I embrace it. There's actually quite a bit that goes into sharing these Stitch Fix boxes and it's even tougher because I never feel like putting them on, looking decent, and having them photographed while I wear them. I just sent back #10 today so you can look for that in the next little while. The two boxes I'm sharing today are just okay. They didn't really do it for me and I only ended up keeping one item out of the two of them, but they were still fun to open and sort through. I can't believe it's been 2 months since my last Stitch Fix post!

Box #7 looked a little something like this...
For this box I requested mostly all jewelry. I'm (attempting to) break free from my no-jewelry ensembles and incorporate some pieces that don't totally clash with my tattoos. I wasn't won over by this box by any means honestly. I opened it and thought for sure the dress/tunic would be a keeper, but it turns out it really is more of a tunic and totally not a dress. Had it been about a foot or so longer, I would've kept it no questions asked. I loved the soft cotton candy colors and the embroidery. The ring was kind of neat but fit really uncomfortably. The stone necklace weighed a ton and wouldn't match anything I owned, so I quickly skipped it over, along with the bracelet. I did end up keeping the black stone/gold necklace though. It was almost free when you calculate in my styling fee so it only made sense to keep something as opposed to missing out on my $20. It's a little "fake" looking though, much like the ones sold at H&M and the likes. But still, it's cute. The black and gold is classy enough to make it work.

And Box #9 went a bit like this...
I requested mostly dresses in this box, much like most of my others. Brittany (who is always my stylist) packed this one up and wrote me a little note saying she felt like she missed the mark on it. While I didn't keep anything from this box, I didn't feel like it was too far of a stretch. I liked the maxi options as I've only recently delved into that world (I know so many people hate them, but they were a heaven send on the beach!). I would've kept the grey one (next to last) in a heartbeat had it been anything other than a jersey knit. Oh jersey! The fabric that clings to everything you don't want it to. I loved the embroidery down the front though. I also almost kept the red/black/white BB Dakota maxi, but I really felt like it'd sit in my closet to never be touched. The blazer was a beautiful pale pink but it would never ever get worn, I just know it. And the other two dresses were cute, but not perfect. I'm trying to be a little more strict about what makes it into my closet since I'm in the middle of tossing/selling off half of it anyway!

As far as Box #8 is concerned, I actually ended up keeping a really really cool necklace that I've worn a ton of times. It's the necklace featured here in THIS post! I love the dainty appeal, but how it's also a pretty large statement piece. It's the perfect marriage of the two!

  1. You are really inspiring me to try out one of the boxes that we have available to us in the UK, I adore that pastel dress, what a shame it was too short :-(

I also really love that chunky blue bracelet, it's totally my style :-)

  6. I should be getting my next box this week, and I can't wait! So far this last box was the only one I didn't keep anything from, and I ended up being able to buy one of the items later in a different size (when they did that sale). I love your recaps! I need to do a recap of the next one...they are so fun.

  8. I'm glad you kept that necklace for the first box of the post! It stuck out to me and I let out a big "Want!!" :)

I love those dresses too, but sheesh, I know what you mean about jersey knit. It either looks impeccable or just...blah. ;) Nice boxes though!

  10. I actually got the grey embroidered maxi dress in my last Stitch Fix, and ended up keeping it! I love it, it's super comfy, and nice and light in this Texas heat. Probably just a personal preference, but I really like jersey dresses - I don't think they cling or make one sweaty like other materials do.

  12. That tunic is so cute, so sad that it ended up being a tunic (I'm not a fan of tunics, really). I can see why some of the jewelry would clash, but that black + gold necklace really does look classy! The dresses also look super cute. Hope something works out better in your next box!

  18. Ah, that is sad that the pastel tunic/almost-dress didn't work out. It looks so pretty!

Interesting what you mention about considering tattoo-clashes when putting together outfits. I definitely want my first tattoo done sometime in the next year, and I worry about that. Then again, I worried about that with my crazy hair colors in the past... and that never stopped me from wearing any outfits I loved. So who knows?

    =)

  19. Have you seen Umba box? I know you're receiving a lot of 'stuff' in the mail but it is sooo great! My husband bought me a subscription for our anniversary and I have been so pleased with it. Handmade items each month that i didn't even know I wanted, at my door! amazing!
