Megan's Sweet Pink Dress

Hi friends, I'm Megan and I blog away at Freckled Italian. I live in Virginia and have just finished a master's degree in Children's Literature! I love to read and run and write. I cook a lot of food, drink a lot of wine, and I wear a lot of clothes.

This is a story about a dress.
Once upon a time, I dated a boy who ended up being quite the disappointment. Haven't we all been there? Well, for some reason, in my not-quite-yet-completely-heartbroken delusion, I bought a Christmas present for him in the middle of July, while we were still together. I held on to it with excitement, and as our relationship slowly and painfully fell apart, I would tell myself that we at least had to make it to Christmas.

When we broke up in October of that year, there were so many things that I wanted to say. For some reason, the main one was, "I already bought you a Christmas present, ya jerk." I was sad, but then I moved on, because that's just what you do when you've just spent a year dating a guy who didn't really like you that much.

That Christmas present, however, sat in the corner of my room for years. Years! I tried to sell it on eBay, but no luck. I finally just left it there. I had started seeing someone wonderful and after about two years, we moved in together. We moved again a year later and I discovered the wonder that is a vintage store. There was one in our new city that had all kinds of stuff, so I brought that old Christmas gift and asked the owner if I could sell it to him. He said no, but that I could take something from the store as a trade.
I found this dress in the children's section, buried deep behind piles and piles of ugly clothes. I knew that it was perfect for me the minute I saw it.

  10. Oh, this outfit is so sweet, I'm glad you got something you love out of something that was really just baggage taking up space. I like how this is styled, I have a similar dress that's too small in the bust, I may have to give something like this a try :)
