I'm taking a short break from what I normally do on Wednesdays which is post and source several different weddings from several different sites because honestly, this one that was featured on Once Wed yesterday takes the cake as one of the most magical and whimsical and all around heavenly weddings I've ever seen. I apologize for the blatant repost, but you'll understand once you see it. Oh my goodness.
Are you as inspired as I am? I love her boots. I love the soft lights. I love the location. I love the trees. I love the invites. So so wonderful! (source)
Now for the Weekly Wedding Question: How do you feel about a male maid of honor or bridal party and a female "best man" or groomsman? I realize this has nothing to do with this wedding but I've been itching to watch "Made of Honor" with Patrick Dempsey again lately and I've always had male best friends so I'm curious! What do you think?
Love this wedding! The location is absolutely magical.
ReplyDeleteAnd to answer your question, I think it's perfectly okay for the 'maid of honor' to be a male, or the 'best man' to be a female. In fact, when I get married, my 'maid of honor' is going to be my little brother, because he's always been my best friend. I've always thought that spot should be reserved for the second closest person to you, regardless. C:
Ahhh, the crooked trees on the side of the cliff. Flawless.
ReplyDeletewell. my (ex)bestfriend was suppose to be my MOH and i asked her a year before the wedding and she said yes and we ordered her dress and everything...make a long story short..3 days before my wedding i hadnt heard from her and kept on calling her and then she left me a facebook message saying she loved me but couldnt make it!!! 3 DAYS before the wedding. well i asked my brother and of course he said yes and i had a male MOH and it was perfect in everyway!! (the ex-bestfriend never called to say sorry and it will be 2yrs in oct no word from her...but i am glad it happened bc you find out who your real friends are)
ReplyDeletedid she have three different dresses? They are different lengths/tops...
ReplyDeleteanon: i believe she had 2. 1 for the ceremony and one earlier. the shorter one was worn during some photos prior. but the longer dress was covered by the cardigan for several photos and reception, as she said the temperature took a much unexpected dip :) sadly i couldn't find a source for either of her dresses, though they're both gorgeous!
ReplyDeletehonestly, if my partner wasn't prepared to have my brother as one of the groomsmen then i'd have him in my bridal party because hes my best friend
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! I love love love untraditional things like her boots!
ReplyDeleteI think it's great if you've got a male best friend to include him in your side of the bridal party. Chris and I have already fought over who gets to have our best friend Jason!

I just went to a wedding where my friend had her best friend (who is a guy) as her "bridesman". The other bridesmaids wore sage green dresses so he wore a sage green vest and tie to match. The groom had his best friend (who is a girl) as his "groomsmaid". She wore a black dress to match the rest of the groomsmens' black suits.
ReplyDeleteVery confusing but it worked out!
oh sweet lord.
ReplyDeletethe pangs of jealousy i get at their stunning wedding! um, i've always got on better with males. so i think having a male 'bridesmaid' is perfect (:
Ahh, I absolutely love everything about this!
ReplyDeleteSo charming!!! I want a wedding like that!
ReplyDeletein my best friends wedding I am her matron of honour and she also has a 'major dude of honour'. so yeah, i think its totally acceptable and pretty hilarious too!
