// Autumn Breeze

Thanks for your super sweet comments on not only yesterday's Gotcha Day post, but Thursday's as well. I could say it a million times and it still not be enough, but the sense of community that can be found in blogging is so rewarding.

This outfit was what I wore for Nashville errands on Saturday. Mike and I planned on having a little movie date while Toby was visiting his grandparents, but the consensus on Identity Thief wasn't a very good one. We skipped it for some mall shopping and lemonade drinking. We planned on getting gyros, too, but our timing was all off. We're putting that on the list for our next errand day in a week or two. (I can't fail him! I promised him I'd try a gyro! haha) It was a bit chilly at first on Saturday so I opted for tights + a knit sweater. I even took it up a notch by wearing some old Blowfish boots. I have these boots in black, too, and they're some of the only boots that fit my chunky calves haha I wish I could wear all of the cute boots out there! This outfit reminded me a little bit of Autumn and that helped a bit because otherwise the weather was pretty gloomy. Seeing all of the dead trees + grass bums me out so bad. I can't wait until everything is lush and green again! Too bad that also means 100*+ heat. Guess I should slow my role, huh?

I think it's so crazy that March is almost here! Like, two days away! What?! Ahhh that means I have 2 days to get Honeybean payments + packages out the door! We're rotating out almost all of our Honeybean designers/inventory and that is a lot of work! Mike and I spent the better portion of a day last week laying out all of the inventory, checking the sheets, going over sales logs and figuring up the numbers and paychecks. We're only keeping on a couple of designers who we accepted in November since we're doing limited engagements this year. Owning a mobile shoppe has been super eye-opening because there are so many variables and lessons to be learned. We'll be tackling things in a different manner from here on out, but it sure has been a treat to have all of the designers we've had over the past  year and a half.

I've really really been in the mood to hear some new music lately. Since I'm finally working in my office pretty much full-time, I need some new tunes to keep me happy and productive. Got any great songs/artists you'd like to recommend? I prefer the folk/singer-songwriter vibe, and I'm a total sucker for female vocals, but I'm really up for any great suggestions! I also love post-rock/instrumental (Caspian, EITS, Mogwai, etc).... Help a girl out and share your favorites! Bonus points if you have a Spotify playlist you can link me to! ;) I also need some inspiration for March's mixtape!

Here's to a productive week and welcoming March with open arms! (Please bring leaves!) Happy Monday! xo

  1. I love the orange bag contrast :)

I recently re-discovered the Once soundtrack and I'm hooked on it again. You should check it out + The Frames (Glen's band) for some awesome folky tunes!

  3. Love love love the outfit! Cardigan is super cute. I'm such a sucker for cardigans! I too have "chunky calves" and finding boots can be such pain! Talk about getting jealous over the girls that can wear any type of boot :) Anyway, check out (if you haven't already) The Airborne Toxic Event. I've been obsessed for quite a bit. Sometime Around Midnight is probably my favorite song. :)

  12. This is one of my favorite dresses of yours EVER. You have several gorgeous UO dresses, but every time I look there I don't ever find anything as cute. How do you do it!?

As for music I highly recommend Sky Sailing. He (it's just one guy, lol) has a very acoustic sound, and it's just really sweet. Also Breanne Duren. Very vintage inspired sound and SO DARN CUTE! Love her!

And I hope you had a wonderful "gotcha day"! I didn't comment but I read your post and saw several of your Instagrams about it. Such a cute idea! And I can't believe you've had Toby a year! I remember when I first read your post about getting him - it feels like just six months ago tops!

    1. to be honest I don't think I've walked into an UO in over a year, and I've had this dress (and the same in another color) for years -- 90% of the time i find the gems on the sale rack, too!

  13. If you like Mogwai, you'll probably like Godspeed You! Black Emporer. I know, strange name. But beautiful music!

  14. Tegan and Sara, Ellie Goulding, Lana Del Dey. Do you have the app, Songza? It's amaze! You choose what you're mood is and what you feel like listening to (my favorites is the 90's energy boost playlist) and there's a station for it.

    Also, loveeee those boots!!

  15. I have such a hard time finding tall boots too (without custom ordering). Those are so cute!

  16. I love this outfit; the color of that cardigan is smashing!
Ah, I have a problem wearing boots, too. Sigh. So many don't like to zip up over my calves!

I've been really hooked on The Band Perry lately; they have so many great songs!
I can't believe it's almost March, either. But I can't wait to have a new month to accomplish new goals in!

  18. I love this. Your yellow cardigan looks wonderful with the adorable floral dress. I get both a fall and spring vibe from this outfit! Your sunglasses are awesome too.
You talking about gyros has made me incredibly hungry. Those things are like heaven.

And as for music... maybe try The Snake The Cross The Crown. They're folky rock and I love them. I'm pretty sure they're not together anymore though. The Weakerthans and Rah Rah are some great Canadian Indie rock. Ron Sexsmith and Delta Spirit are more low key than the previous two. Maybe you'll like one of these bands!

  20. I've been really loving Amy Millan. I especially love her cover of Death Cab's "I will follow you into the dark." On that same note, Katie Herzig's "I want to belong to you" is awesome. Both very romantic and folkie.

  21. I LOVE your style girl! If you want some female singer/songwriter vibe, check out Brooke White's new stuff. It's way chill but fun too.

  24. If you like female folk/singer-songwrite types you might want to check out First Aid Kit. So awesome. I didn't comment on your Gotcha post, but I couldn't help thinking how happy and full of life Toby looks in recent picture compared to when you first got him. You're obviously doing an amazing job :)

  25. LOVE LOVE LOVE that sweater. I haven't done a Stitch Fix in a while, and now I'm wanting too in hopes of getting that sweater. haha. I'm totally with you on the gloomy weather :( I do feel like we've had more sunny days this winter than normal, though, so I've been glad for that! I'm actually kind of ready for the hot hot hot days. If I could take the heat and leave the humidity, I'd be in heaven.

  27. Love the outfit! I have a hard time finding cute boots dur to some seriously chunky calves. For chill music I listen to anything from Ellie Goulding to Gregory and the Hawk to Jonny Craig (bit of a sucker for emo music =\ ).

  28. I'm a huge sucker for anything with strong female vocals. My absolute fave is April Smith. Her songs have sassy cute lyrics ("if you're just drop dead gorgeous you can just drop dead"hehe) and she is always parading around in a tutu. I pretty much love every song by her, ever!

For folk music, I would check out (if you haven't already) frontier ruckus, and Samantha Craine :-)
