One Dress / Five Ways - ONE

Over the next week or two I'll be sharing five different ways to style up this super cute Flapper Keeper dress from LuLu*s! Everything from classy/evening to super casual or Sunday brunch appropriate. Well, appropriate in KB's world... This first look is "Nice, but not too nice..." if you know what I mean? I think this would be appropriate for a daytime party when you want to keep it a little flashy, but not try too hard. To be honest, I just like to throw some "loud" accessories on any and every outfit. I dressed up the outfit with a super nice lace shrug, but kept it KB-style with some disheveled hair and a oversized bow headband. Maybe you have an office holiday party that fall during the daylight hours or something (it's an office party every day in my workspace... oldschool Destiny's Child knows what I mean.)

I've been experimenting more with my makeup routine and trying to force myself out of my norm. This look, however, is about as normal as it gets for me. Peachy pink cheeks (NARS Orgasm blush) and matching lips (CoverGirl Outlast Lip Stain in "Saucy Plum" with ELF "Peace" Shimmer Gloss on top). For a few of the other looks I went a bit louder with the makeup... let's just hope I don't look like a doof!

A quick word on this dress: the back has a super cute cut-out that is totally drool worthy! It's entirely too cold to go without any sort of sweater right now, but you can peep what I mean here

Check back in a few days for another installation of One Dress // Five Ways! The next one is probably my favorite of the ones I've shot so far. It feels very "me"! Hope you have a rad Wednesday!

  1. Oh love it! Can't wait to see the other ways. I always feel like nice but not too nice is great, but I'm still 'over dressed' in comparison. At the same time, I don't really believe in over dressing. I wear sequins for no reason all the time :D

    1. I totally know what you mean. Sometimes I think people consider *any* kind of dress "overdressed" to normal daily wear (jeans, etc). Mike and I get asked all of the time "What's the big occasion?" when we're out and about... just because he wears a tie and I wear a dress haha!

    2. That's how it was in high school I think. If I ever wore a dress, everyone in their sweatpants would be like, "What are you dressed up for?"

But at the office, everyone pretty much knows I just wear whatever. Sweatpants one day, and a dress and heels the next.

    1. The shrug was one of those lucky finds in Marshalls and I wanted desperately to wear it for my wedding, but it's about 2 sizes too big (but I couldn't say no! Need to alter it asap). I think it'll be way more flattering once I fix it up a bit, but it's such a dreamy piece!

  4. I love the necklace and I know what you mean about the "overdressed" issue. Too many people are TOO casual.

  5. I like that you're giving each look its own individual post! As a chronic outfit remixer, I love to see how people like to style one item in their closet in different ways; it makes anybody's closet feel that much bigger! I'm also terrible with accessories, which you totally rock at, so I stand to learn a thing or two from this series.

    1. Thanks Erin! I have to admit, as a gal who really has/had no jewelry/accessories at the first of the year, I've been desperately trying to teach myself how to accessorize. Still a learning lesson, but I'm trying! I appreciate the kind worsd! :P

  6. Ohmygosh, I love love loveeee this idea and I just might steal it. I always have dresses that I know I can dress up/down/sideways but am afraid to post too much on the blog - why don't I accept it and run with it!? Anyway, "nice but not TOO nice" basically describes my entire style, and I love how you channeled it for this look. Can't wait for the next installment!
