Craft Coffee

We are a coffee-drinkin' bunch over here in the Flynn house. I've been drinking it since I was a teensy toddler (yes, really. Asthma. It works.) and I'm maybe a little bit sure that I'm comprised of mostly caffeine  rather than blood and water. I love trying all of the hip coffee shops around town, especially here on the East side. We have more than our fair share! All of these amazing roasts from around the world. Being that I'm not a flavored coffee person (lattes, etc), I prefer a straight roast. There are so many to choose from though! I'm not snobby about my coffee though... We usually brew Dunkin Donuts or Cracker Barrel at home (Have you had CB coffee?! I like it! Possible sacrilege to say in a post like this, but it's true.) My only real standards are: 1) It doesn't make me jittery (Looking at you, Folgers) and 2) It doesn't take like soot (Starbucks, that's all on you!). But I kindaaa feel like I need to raise the bar just a little bit now haha
Anyway, my friend Amanda sent me a Craft Coffee subscription box and I can't get enough. I think this one might take the cake on all of the sub boxes combined. (I know, I know, another sub-box... but this one is so rad.)

Basically Craft Coffee is an artisan coffee sub box and they pick the 3 best roasts each month to ship to your door. 42 cups of fresh brewed goodness. You can choose your grind and open your mailbox to a trifecta of amazing smelling coffee. Mike and I got the whole bean and grinded it ourselves. We decided to use our coffee in our French Press. They send along an informative card about the best way to brew the coffee to get the maximum flavoring. Pretty darn helpful considering I don't know much aside from "stick it in a coffee maker" and "push it down in the french press" haha
I ended up canceling my Glossybox subscription a few months ago just because I felt like it wasn't worth the money anymore. I could definitely see myself subscribing to Craft Coffee in it's place though, because it's something both Mike and I can enjoy together. It has my thumbs up!

PS; I was in no way compensated for this post! It's not sponsored or anything. This is just my honest-to-goodness reaction to a rad new product. :) If you decide to try it out, let me know what you think! I feel like this is right up y'alls alley!

PPS; After seeing the post the CC folks were kind enough to offer up at 10% discount code to all of y'all! Use the code "honeybeegift" to get 10% off any holiday gift at Craft Coffee! Expires December 23rd!

  1. Unggghhh, gah, I love me a good cup of coffee! My dad has taken a fancy to roasting, so I drink that stuff pretty regularly now... although Bongo Java will always hold a very special place in my heart :)

Have you tried making coffee with an Aero Press? It's very similar to a French Press, except it uses a filter so you don't get grounds or sludge. It also only makes one cup at a time - which sounds like a total bummer, but it seriously makes the very best coffee I have *ever* had. It's so smooth, I stopped using sugar. I ganked my press from my mom, although I think you can get them on Amazon for under $30 :)

  2. This is the subscription box for me! I wish it was available in England!! Coffee is the best.

Square mile coffee is my favourite, if you can get your hands on it I'd highly recommend it . Tastes completely different than any other coffee i've ever had. (http://shop.squaremilecoffee.com)

    1. Coffee (the caffeine paired with the hot temperature) acts as a bronchial dilater! It opens up your airways allowing you to breathe easier in the event of an attack. Pretty much my saving grace when one hit me all of a sudden in Mexico on our honeymoon! haha

  6. I've never been one for coffee. I mean I'm 25, I went through school and working full time, part time, nannying, and now running a boutique and freelancing. I've had plenty of reason to need some coffee, but never really drank it. But lately (like, as of the last week) I've been having it every morning. It comes and goes in phases, I'll drink it for a week and not touch it for months. I'm weird and rambly today (maybe it's the coffee?). sorry. But I had NO idea it helped people with asthma! Good to know!

  7. Oh my gosh, that would be perfect for my bf. All he wanted for xmas is coffee. I've already bought a bunch from Teaman on Etsy though. He's got a great shop. I'll have to remember this for the bf's birthday I guess :)

  8. BEST.SUBBOX.EVER!!!! I think it's funny that you like DD but don't like Starbucks, because I'm the opposite. DD is growing on me, but it's always had a weird taste that I don't like. I've never had a problem with the medium starbucks roasts though! I can't drink it from the store though. They must brew it too hot or something.

I will have to try this out! I love me some coffee even though my husband hates it :)

  13. HOLY MOLY.

Thank you for posting this! My boyfriend has been racking his brain for Christmas gift ideas (other than the boring socks & plain white tee's), and this one is perfect! We both love a good cup of coffee, especially if a french press is involved! :)

  14. That sounds AWESOME! I love coffee and am always on the hunt for something new. I also hate the coffees that make me jittery. I don't know what it is, but some brews just kill me with the jitteriness regardless of how much caffeine there is. This might be my birthday gift to myself!

  22. Amazing! I'm in love with coffee too and nothing better than getting it in the post :)

I'm also with you on the straight roast, don't want any funky flavors in my coffee! My boyfriend finds it hilarious because the first thing I say in the morning is 'coffeee' in my sleepy morning voice.

We just inherited a coffee machine off my flatmates sister (she's not dead, just moving to japan!) so I can't wait to try making cappuccinos as well as coffee in the french press!

When I'm out and about I mostly go for independent places. starfucks doesn't taste as good!

  26. I have to second the Aero Press for coffee making. My boyfriend got me one for christmas and I'm totally in love. I also love that I can make tea from leaf in it and we also use it for making extracts for beer making! It's crazy versatile and I love it super duper much.
