Our Saturday Recap

That one time I got a Clueless tribute tattoo...
So I've been planning this tattoo for an eternity. Clueless is my favorite movie (along with one other, which will be commemorated shortly!) and I knew I wanted something silly and awesome. I had the idea in my head to do Cher's fluffy pen and a tube of lipstick, because I mean, that's totally Cher. And no Clueless tribute would be complete without an ode to the party song of the whole thing, right? I know I'll get the epic side-eye from so many people for it, but I'm seriously over the moon. I love it so much. Richie at Kustom Thrills here on the East side did it and it's perfect in every way. Pop culture tattoos are some of my favorites...

Yesterday was a total "Mike and me" day. We hit up a few of our favorite stores (but had minimal luck), ate some mexican food, and left with a nice (delicious!) haul from World Market. We started watching the show "Wilfred" on Netflix (with Elijah Wood, not the Australian original) but we're totally loving it. We're only 2 or 3 episodes in (of the 11 available) but if you haven't seen it, we definitely recommend it!

dress is from modcloth + shoes are c/o oasap!

Phew! But last night... it was such a treat! We set up Honeybean at the Native issue launch party for September, and it aligned perfectly with the monthly art crawl here in Nashville. We were at the Brick Factory at Cummins Station and it was a nice new environment that we were both totally unfamiliar with. We had no idea how busy it'd be or if anyone would even show up, much less come in our shop, but we were truly surprised. Not only did I get a chance to meet several amazing blog readers (Sonica, Louisa, and a few gals whose names I'm not sure I got!), but we also met so many talented and interesting people with such great stories. Lauren made an appearance which is always wonderful, and I finally had a chance to meet (in person -- the other) Lauren! And Kristi dropped by, too! Ahh, I love seeing familiar faces. So many well dressed people and the icing on the cake was how many people were tickled pink by Honeybean. Mega thanks to everyone who stopped in and an even bigger thanks to everyone who took home a little piece of the 'bean with them! We're definitely looking forward to setting up at many many more Native launches (just not the October one because you know, wedding stuff. psh.)

Obviously since I was at the 'bean from 8pm til 1am I didn't go to work. It was weird to be out and about on a Saturday honestly. It's been such a long time since I've had a weekend night free, and it hasn't been a regular occurrence in 6.5 years! I've got a thing or two to learn about being social okay?! haha We towed Honeybean home and jumped back in the car to head 2 hours south to my hometown. Toby stayed with my parents this weekend while we did biz stuff so we came down to celebrate my Nana's 80th birthday! Like most 80 year olds, she celebrated her birthday by getting a Facebook. Hey, it's 2012!

I'm looking forward to taking it easy and enjoying a slower pace today. I know I'll be back at it in my office tomorrow but I'm excited because I'm feeling sooo productive! A lot of things are on the agenda this week, including some much needed friend-time. Hopefully some wedding crafting, too. I'm a bit proud at how much we've managed to get done for the wedding in the past few days. Mike's outfit is complete (we think!) and some food has been arranged and some party favors, too. Is it silly that I'm slightly sad that it's so close to being over, mainly because I've only now begun? Ahh, bittersweet!

Hope you're all having a great weekend! If you're in the US and celebrating Labor Day weekend, please be safe! Well, that kind of goes for everyone anyway :P

  6. Love the Clueless tattoo! I have always loved that movie too...it holds a special place in my heart lol. People always think I'm crazy because I have Harry Potter stuff tattooed on my knuckles! Yay with movie themed tattoos :)

  7. That blue dress looks bangin' on you, pretty lady! And I am all about the random, funny, or just neat tattoos - people always put so much serious thought into it and while those tattoos are awesome as well, sometimes it's just neat to have something you look at that makes you smile :)

  15. That tattoo is awesome! Wear it with pride I say - so many people pretend not to love things like Clueless or other fun movies/ books because they're not "high brow". I think the goal of things like that is to entertain, and boy does Clueless entertain! One of my fave movies too.

  17. Love the tattoo! It's so stinkin' cute!

Also: I’ve given you the “Liebster Blog Award.” Now, I’m sure you probably have a bazillion of these things. So just toss it in your pile, and give yourself a pat on the back for a job well done. ;)

  19. Love everything about this post. Where is your dress from? So freakin' cute! Especially with the pink hair - pastel pink + blue is one of my favorites. Also, Honeybean looks great. Hope I get to see it in person some day!

  20. It was so good to see you! I am excited about the future of Native. It seems like it's going to be a pretty awesome little magazine. Too bad it's not in Jackson where I can contribute to it! haha. I didn't comment on it Saturday, but your dress is so stinkin' cute. That color looks amazing with your pink hair.

  21. A pop-culture 'Clueless' tattoo is way cooler than the same tattoos that everyone always gets! I just blogged about Brittany Murphy this week too so your tat reminds me of her singing that line. You can't help but sing it when you read it!

  22. Wow, you sure have been a busy bee! Sounds like it has all been wonderful though which is what's most important. :) Glad you had such an awesome weekend and I love your Clueless tattoo so much!!

  24. That is pretty much the only thing from Clueless I'll say. . .I sing the song while making the little hand gestures. yeah. No one seems to know that part, so when I saw your post I smiled. hehe.

  27. Do you post a schedule of where and when you will be with honeybean? Because I would love to go to some of these things, but I am all the way in Shelbyville (which is on the other side of Murfreesboro, since it's so small and no one knows where it is haha.)so I would need a bit of a heads up so I can beg my boyfriend to take me. Haha.
