I've been considering tossing the red hair for a while now. It was getting darker and darker with each dye job and I just wasn't feeling it anymore. I did the pink for a while (don't worry, I still am! The pink is a wig, for anyone who didn't realize that! I'll have some fun wig tips/videos etc coming soon) but both Mike and my mom were really partial to the brown so I decided to give it a whirl for Autumn/the wedding. I'm not sure if I'll have pink or brown at the wedding (I'll probably decide the day of haha) but it's nice to have my natural hue back.
I was scared when I dyed it that it was going to be almost black (or worse, purple black like the last time!) but luckily it's perfect. It just has the red undertones. Pesky red -- so hard to get rid of! My hair already feels 10x healthier and I think it'll be good to be a natural color for a while. My hair could use some rest! I'm liking it so far, so let's hope I don't regret it!
We've also been hard at work making upcycled bowties! This is the bowtie the boys will wear in the wedding, and Mike made them by hand! We've cut fabric for about ~200+ bowties that we'll be working on soon to put on Etsy, in Honeybean, etc. They're all made from upcycled fabrics so that's kind of fun. I'll be sure to share more about those soon! I'm really really proud of how talented Mike is. He even made my hairpiece for the wedding! I know! He's so talented it's annoying. I kind of want to punch him. (Just kidding. But really...)
Mike is also a litttttle bit in love with his new custom suit. He ordered the nicest grey three piece suit and I am in love. He's going to look so dapper on our wedding day! He has been geeking out about it and maybe putting it on just to walk around the house haha!
I also hung some new prints the other day on my side of the room. The two 4 x 6s on the bottom are from the EineDerGuten shop! The top illustration is from Nan Lawson. Also - a disclaimer: I know our room looks really feminine, but you're only seeing my side in these photos! haha Mike's has illustrations of Ron Swanson and lots of guitars on the wall. He just lets me have pink pillows because I like them. (Even with this disclaimer I know I'll get loads of "OMG you force Mike to have girly things!" but maybe I'll save that for a different post :P)
Today we're building picnic tables for the wedding (and by we I mean Mike + my stepdad), borrowing decor from a family friend, and putting together signage for the farm. I'm already exhausted just thinking about it! Hope your weekend is rad!
I love the new (/old) color! And I'm really looking forward to those wig tip videos too, mine can be so pesky.
ReplyDeleteMy boyfriend is really good at everything too! It's nice but I also kind of want to punch him sometimes, haha. Have fun getting ready for the wedding. Your hair looks great in any colour and you'll be beautiful with whatever you choose for your special day! :)

I'm so jealous - my wedding isn't for another 2 years and I just kind of wish that time would hurry up!

Eeep! I love your hair! I recently went back to my natural hair color from blue! It came out to light so i have to dye it one last time!! Im so excited for your wedding! Its so close!!! Those bow ties are amazing, Mike is so talented! Are you getting any more tattoos before the wedding? Do you plan on getting a tattoo that symbolizes you and Mike together or your wedding?
ReplyDeletei love that bow tie and your new hair color!! the wedding is going to be awesome!

I LOVE the brown! Brown is the only color I haven't had my hair, actually, and it looks fantastic on you! I'm a natural redhead, so I know exactly what it's like to have those pesky red undertones (under everything - it even showed up when my hair was teal)...but it looks great on you!
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited to see photos from your wedding!
Again trying to prove Mike isn't a closet gay? Give it a rest.
ReplyDeletethis is my favorite comment ever.
Deleteif we're keeping up with the trend of sexual stereotypes, mike is currently holding a beer in one hand while simultaneously cutting a large piece of wood for a picnic table he's building. not safe, but totally manly, right?! DANGER 4 THE WIN. is that heterosexual enough for you? ;)
This is my favorite response ever.
DeleteFavorite response ever.
DeleteI think you look lovely as a brunette (though I love you with red and pink hair as well), your eyes really pop!
ReplyDeleteYou are so lucky to have such a talented, creative (and interested) man. All these handmade, personal touches will make your special day so memorable!

ReplyDeleteI totally didn't realise the pink was a wig! Now I feel stupid haha!

Love the hair color. and I dumb, even though I know you talk about wigs I didn't realize pink is one of them. Good luck with the wedding decorations.
ReplyDeleteauburnish locks for the autumn always feels right to me. you're fortunate in that just about every color compliments you!
ReplyDeleteLove the, "we need to sleep more" print!
ReplyDeletei love grey suits for weddings! everything is going to be so lovely <3
ReplyDeleteYou look really good with that color hair, I love the little bit of red hue still shining through. :-) How exciting with the wedding coming up, I hope you get everything completed in a relaxing way!
ReplyDeleteYou hair looks super lovely :D
ReplyDeleteThat bow tie looks so awesome too!
Love you as a brunette!
ReplyDeleteWOW! You are stunning all the time but it's a safe bet that you like EVEN better with the brown. Love it :) I've been considering going brown but I'm so scared about how much work it'll be to go back to my naturally blond hair.
ReplyDeleteWhat I've never gotten about this whole 'OMG you force Mike to tolerate "girly"defor" is it's like someone walking into my house, seeing all the "masculine" colours like blue, red and black and telling MY boyfriend "OMG you force Meghann to decorate the house super masculine". Who would ever say that?
ReplyDeleteLove this hair colour on you, makes you look rather sophisticated I think! :) And OMG my hair went purpley-black once after a weird dye job and it was awful. Not a good look.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with all the wedding prep, not long to go now!!
Love the dark color, although as a fake redhead myself, Im always keen on red :)
ReplyDeleteIm sure youve answered this before, but where did you pick up your pink wig?
Love the new color! :) Didn't know the pink was a wig either :-/ Perfectly matches your natural hair style/texture... where did you get it?
ReplyDeletei like the brown!
ReplyDeleteand i cant believe people give you so much grief for your decorating style! sometimes in relationships one person likes to decorate and the other person doesn't care or is completely happy to live that way! i know travis could care less if i put something girly on the walls in the house, and i bet mike is the same way. he seems like such a great guy. i can't wait to see your wedding!
Your hair looks SO GOOD!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI've always been scared to rock a wig, but maybe with a few tips I'll be willing to try it!

Your hair looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteYou look gorgeous with your brown hair! And I love your room decor! My darling husband lets me put girly pillows on our bed and decorate however I want to too. He's got the garage all to himself and I let him buy all the beer and cigarettes he wants. Fair trade! -Jessica L
ReplyDeleteI love your room and your bedding! I want some pillows like that where could I look online?
ReplyDeleteI love the color. I didn't know the pink was a wig!
ReplyDeletethat's a lovely color!
ReplyDeleteand the bow-tie looks really nice. it's so sweet mike made your headpiece!
xo, cheyenne
Wow, I didn't know the pink was a wig. Eek kinda embarrassing. But this brunette shade is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteAha, I know what you mean about the red hair; I dyed my hair red about two years ago and no matter how many times I colour over it, the red still manages to poke through! <3
ReplyDeleteLoving the brunette hue! Looks awesome! xxx
ReplyDeleteYou guys are so DIY about your wedding it's awesome haha! And wow I didn't realize the pink was a wig, it looks so real! That's awesome haha!

Love your half of the card!
ReplyDeleteFavorite response ever.
ReplyDeleteThe brown hair looks beautiful though I'm also a big fan of red. (I know how hard it is to maintain though; I too am a brunette (almost black haired) gal who's gone red on and off over the years.
ReplyDeletePlus you have such a unique look the brown looks anything but basic.
I absolutely adore you with brown hair, you look so gorgeous! My natural hair is a mousy brown/dirty blonde but I dye it platinum blonde; you make me tempted to dye my hair brown with how lovely it looks, plus I think it always looks so much healthier and glossier than blonde hair. I love that Mike is so talented with making things; my other half is exactly the same - I was making some felt owls a little while back and he picked up some felt and sewed the most amazing stuffed shark, so much better than anything I could do! Can't wait to see photographs of your wedding, it sounds like it's going to be absolutely wonderful (and I wouldn't expect anything less!) X
ReplyDeletecute blog! <3 xox
ReplyDeleteI hope I'm not basically spamming you with hair tips on twitter and here this week, but if you want to get rid of the red undertones before the big day...first, figure out if they're actual red or orange. Find a place with "crazy" hair colors (manic panic, etc.) and if your hair has some red to it, buy green color. If it's orange, buy blue color. then mix a few drops of it in with a ton of conditioner (so it looks very light or pastel) and leave it on your hair for like 15, and it should neutralize the color and leave it a nice brown! It'll fade back to being warm-ish again but can't hurt for a quick fix for oh, say, a wedding :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your hair brown.... It's beautiful. My favorite. It looks really healthy & shiny! Pretty gal.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea the pink was a WIG! You worked it so well.
ReplyDeleteI like this brown on you though.
http://frenchpresstights.blogspot.com/
Honestly, no matter what your hair color is, you always seem to work the shit out of it. And this time, as always, you look fantastic
ReplyDeleteLove the hair, and like you said, you can always go pink with the wig ^^ xx
ReplyDeleteI love the brunette. And also, I want that pretty rose pillow!
ReplyDeleteHaha I can't speak for others, but I couldn't tell the pink was a wig... probably because your hair always looks perfect, real or wig!
ReplyDeleteThe brunette looks lovely on you :)
ReplyDeleteI have to say, I'm a big fan of wigs as well, but I find I overheat in them really easily, or my head gets painful/itchy... I'm looking forward to your wig tips, just to see if it helps out my wig wearing! I'd also love to know where you get yours from, as they always look so perfect.
Morgue x
The pink is a wig? I HAD NO IDEA. I am devastated - the pink was giving me hope I could dye my hair that colour!
