// Home Sweet Home: Bedroom Sneak Peek

Mike and I have been hard at work on a little mini bedroom makeover this past weekend. Our walls were a medium grey (much like the rest of our house) and we had very few things on the wall. It just felt so drab and boring. We knew we wanted to spruce it up a little bit before the baby comes, but we weren't really sure how to go about it. I knew what color I wanted the walls, and we planned to do some faux board-and-batten on the lower half. We still plan on actually doing that, but that was just too much for us to take on at this particular time. We repainted the whole room and that was all of the cash we spent. Everything else was refashioning things we had, building frames and shelves out of wood we had laying around, and finally hanging some artwork on the walls. We still have plenty left to do, but here's a little sneak peek at how it's coming along. We're hoping to have it totally finished by this time next week, but you know how that goes...

I'm sure I'll get an earful about how it's so girly or pink or whatever, and Mike can't possibly be okay with it. But he is (surprise!). I didn't show too much of his side of the room just yet because that's actually the part that needs to get finished. He hasn't really decided on artwork or decor just yet, so here's to hoping we can nail that down. It feels so nice to finally feel happy with our bedroom. The past year and a half has just been so "blah" when we went in there. I love that it's bright and happy now. I'll be sure to share the final photos so you can see everything (and link where everything is from) in case you're interested!

Not bad for only spending $50 on a gallon of paint, right?

  1. First of all, it looks great! I love the headboard. Did y'all DIY that? And second, there are like, two pink things. And some flowers. And everything "girly" in these photos totally fits y'all's design aesthetic as a couple. People who think that Mike wouldn't be okay with what you've shown here are...ridiculous. To say the least. ;)

  5. So pretty! Our bedroom is so neglected, it's considered the lowest priority room. I've been itching lately to make it nicer though.

  7. We actually painted our bedroom in a similar shade of blue, so this room really inspires me! You're brave to take on such a task while you're so round, but I know how you feel- your surroundings HAVE to make you happy, or else it's a drag on your mood.

  11. It looks gorgeous! I love they way you guys style your house--it looks so comfy and lived-in, but still fresh and stylish. :)

Ugh, my least favorite shit ever is when people are like "lol my husband would kill me for this!" Well maybe your husband needs to just be thankful he has a wife who takes the time and effort to decorate and create a nice space for him. Maybe he can shut up and do it himself. Also, maybe he needs to go to therapy if the idea of such a "feminine" space offends him so much. ;) For the record, my bf's favorite color is hot pink and he advocates for as much color as possible in our home. So there.

    lol sorry, rant over!

  21. Love the 'Be a Nice Human' print. Is that something you made? I secretly think men love bedrooms that are girly and soft. All those neutral colours and soft palettes--'cmon they love it!

  22. So pretty! I'm excited to see more and find out where you got some of that stuff. The pink clock is adorable. My guy would mind pink stuff in his bedroom either. At least I don't think he would. You've got a good one.
