Okay, so the outfit title... Who remembers those wacky (dated!) screensavers from the Windows 98 era? The pipes that threaded together, or the brick maze? How about the 3-D "bubble" that sort of hovered around your screen like a mouse under a rug? Well, my belly in this dress is totally that screensaver! I cracked up when I saw the photos on the camera because my brain instantly went there. At this point this thing just bulges out like crazy! This is by far the most snug dress I've worn my entire pregnancy, but I love the navy and white stripes. I have to do a little shimmy to get my booty in it, but it's so comfortable. I opted to pair it with a totally inappropriate-for-the-season colored cardigan because rust and navy are just so nice together. I could say I'm looking forward to Autumn but I promise I won't be one of those bloggers just yet haha! Summer can stick around as long as she'd like because I'm digging the sunshine.

This dress is from Belly Dance Maternity and it's insanely well made. I received a little package of goodies from them last week and I wish I had known about them early on because I probably wouldn't have worn anything else. This was also the first time I dared to wear wedges while pregnant, too. Probably not the brightest idea I've ever had, but my trust MIA wedges are as solid as can be so I didn't have any trouble teetering around. Truth be told I wore them out to dinner and then was back in flip flops after... ha! (Sorry for the lack of consistency in the photo colors... They all look the same on Flickr, but leave it to Blogger to fudge things up!)

Today I'm headed to my doctor's office bright and early for what could likely be my very last non-stress test. After my NST on Friday my doctor ordered me to do a third 24 hour urine and then pop into the hospital on Sunday for blood work. She told me that if the baby didn't come on his own this past weekend then we'd be picking an induction day today... so hopefully I'll know the plan in just a matter of hours! It feels so crazy to know he's coming so soon. I got the dreaded preeclampsia diagnosis on Friday, but luckily my symptoms aren't crazy bad or anything. Obviously they're still serious enough to schedule an induction, but I know it could be much, much worse. I'm trying to play it cool and keep myself from getting too worked up about anything. Who knows... I could be induced today and have a baby tomorrow! What! Hope y'all don't mind the lingering outfit/pregnancy posts that have yet to make their way to the blog. By the time they're over it'll be hard not to post all-baby, all the time haha

This past weekend was majorly productive on the nursery front. Mike and I cleaned the entire house top to bottom and we finished up most of the baby's room. I still have a few art pieces I'm working on completing, but they'll get done eventually. The baby will be sleeping in a moses basket in our room for the first little while anyway, so I'm not too stressed on having everything completely and totally done. I am excited to share more of the room, though!

I didn't get all ~*professional blogger and schedule a bunch of guest posts or anything to make up for my inevitable absence over here. There's plenty of great content out there for y'all to read and hopefully I can pop in every so often to share some updates. I've taken a much more relaxed approach to my blog in the past 6 months and I like the way it feels. It feels... less forced. I've already received comments asking to please not "turn into a mommy blog" but the fact is: I plan on blogging about what feels natural and relevant at the time. And I bet this baby is going to be taking up most of our lives haha I'll try not to bore you with every single little detail or anything (that's what I have Instagram for, ha!) but if baby things drive you bonkers, come check on me in a few weeks/months when I've gotten it all out of my system! Heh.

Happy Monday, friends! Here's to hoping Baby Flynn makes a safe and smooth entrance into the world! xo

  2. You look beautiful in these pictures! But NOOOO induction! Please! I worked in midwifery, and am now going to medical school, and as long as your baby has enough oxygen, that beautiful baby boy is going to know when to come on his own. Once they hit you with Pitocin, your contractions will intensify, making baby Flynn anxious, and then your doc will tell you that you need a C-section, which I'm sure you want to avoid. So with a lot of love, I'm telling you to put your foot down and tell your doc to let the baby come on its own terms!!

    1. (I wanted to edit my comment, so please excuse the repeat!) I know you obviously mean SO well by your comment, and you are just trying to share what you believe is best by your own experience. And with that said, please don't take my reply as defensive or rude! Certainly not the intention at all :)

While I am (typically) always very happy and open to hearing the experiences of others, and accepting their advice/well wishes, please know that my doctor and I are both very aware of what we are doing for my pregnancy. Maybe you haven't read all of the entries where I talk about being hospitalized 3 times in the past 4 weeks due to the baby's heart and my pre-eclampsia symptoms (aka he *isn't* getting enough oxygen during certain contractions and my placenta is not working the way it's supposed to), but at this point in the pregnancy (38 weeks and 5 days), we need to take action. I'm not simply being induced because I'm "over it" or ready to no longer be pregnant. I appreciate your comment and concern, but I trust my doctor wholeheartedly and have no reason to believe she'd lead me astray. I was already put on Pitocin last week for an Oxytocin Contraction Challenge to ensure the baby could even withstand labor. If he proves to have any difficulty at all, I will be ushered in for a c-section. Every pregnancy and labor/delivery are different, and while I had hoped to avoid induction and intervention all together, I will do absolutely anything to help ensure he makes a safe and secure entrance into the world.

I think as a first time (biological) mom, my mind and heart are already racing in a million directions, worrying about a million different things, and anticipating the absolute worst. Knowing that my body is having a hard time doing what it's naturally supposed to be built to do is heartbreaking in it's own right. My doctor has been SO supportive and wonderful, and I have no reason not to trust her. She births about 30 babies a week so I feel confident that she's doing exactly what she thinks is right. Who knows? I might go into natural labor today and not even need the induction. Or he may have a hard time during his NST and I might need to be wheeled off for surgery. Whatever the case may be, I only care about having a safe delivery for me and the baby. If that means surgery or awful contractions or anything else, I'll do my best to get through it. I was a little hurt by your comment initially because it felt like I was being shamed for (possibly) doing what needs to done. I know no two births/pregnancies/babies are the same, but I hopeful that both the baby and I will come out the other side as healthy as can be, regardless of how we get there :)

  4. First, I love your outfit, and have been following your fab maternity style. I wish I had documented that special time in my blog, but I ended up taking a long break during my pregnancy.

Secondly, though your pre-eclampsia might be mild, I am glad your doctor is scheduling an induction if your little nugget doesn't make a surprise appearance before then. I was monitored for pre-eclampsia through my entire pregnancy (due to my age and chonic hypertension), and even had 2 months of miserable bed rest due to my extremely high blood pressure. Though I didn't want to be induced, I realize it was what was best for me and Baby Sophie. Good luck to you and your family during this exciting and memorable time ;)

    PS-Your nursery is AMAZING!

  5. Seriously. You are one of the most lovely pregnant women ever! That belly. It's amazing. You are amazing. I love these posts!

And your induction, yes. It is important. If it needs to happen, it needs to happen. You have a great medical support system, by the sounds of it, who are going to take amazing care of you and your family. I can't wait to catch a glimpse of your new little cosmonaut when you share the news! Hang in there Sugar, you're doing awesome. :)

  6. I can't get enough of your pregnancy and I look forward to every future post about your new adventures with baby! I have absolutely no problem with your blog turning into a 'mommy' blog but you are just so damn creative, I know you'll be sure to mix up the posts! But like you said, this blog is YOUR blog about your lifestyle and baby is sure going to be a huge part of that. I am so excited for you and your family! Wishing you all of the best in the delivery room!

  7. GIRL, turn your blog into whatever you WANT. What has set you apart as one of my favorite blogs is that you actually write about your day to day life in a journal format, while posting awesome pictures and outfits and links etc. You have a personality that makes your site stand out. Guess what, you're having a baby. SOOOO .. you're gonna talk about baby. You also won't automatically hate everything else in your life, either, though. People should chill. I am sooo excited for you!!!!

  8. Who is saying "dont turn this into a mommy blog?!" HOW RUDE. It's YOUR blog!

Also glad you're on top of pre-eclampsia. I don't know anything about it past Downtown Abbey but seems serious so glad the doctor knows what's up!
