So Long Sweet Summer

This isn't the most Autumn-appropriate outfit, I know. In fact, it's a fashion faux-pas to wear white after labor day, is it not? Ah, who cares. I've never really been one to follow those rules mainly because I don't understand them. I snagged these shoes from LuLu*s a few weeks ago and this is the first time I've been able to wear them out and about. (They're sold out on LuLu*s but you can get them here!) They're the softest red/fuschia velvet ever! I was a bit stumped on what I'd wear them with but this dress was simply made for these shoes. I don't think I've ever seen a better pairing!

The skies have been overcast in Nashville lately. The gloomy weather and the grey cardi go hand in hand it seems. A bit of sunshine from the shoes and dress but toning it down, too. Mike and I are officially working in overdrive to get ready for Honeybean's soft-launch this weekend! We know we won't get any sleep (I still have to bartend each night!) and I won't even touch the computer. I'm going to try to schedule up some posts to hold us over!

Off to do inventory! Happy Tuesday! I hope some of y'all can come down to the TN State Fairgrounds Flea Market this weekend to meet Honeybean! Next month is when the real fun should start!

Do you think it's okay to wear white after Labor Day? What are some typical fashion faux-pas that you love to commit?

PS: Here's my new hair! It's a bit flat and bland in these pictures because I had just re-dyed it yesterday and my hair won't do anything the same day I wash it. Either way, it feels really good to be a redhead again! xo

  2. Bah. Fashion and makeup rules are for chumps. If it feels good, do it.

I had to comment today to tell you I'm LOVING you as a redhead!!!

  3. The shoes & the dress do look made for each other, but I think I would be scared to walk in them. Good luck with your honeybean launch this weekend ...!

  6. I love this outfit, so adorable! And as far as the "no white after labor day rule"... I've never understood that and break that rule every year... haha.
It's such a silly rule, I see SO many people wearing white this time of year.

I totally wish I lived closer to Nashville so I could visit the Honebean! You'll do great, and it's amazing how fast you've progressed from the idea of your little shop to actually setting up this coming weekend, you're so inspiring!

P.S- I totally was standing right next to you and Mike in Chicago for Renegade and didn't introduce myself because I was nervous... and now I highly regret it! haha

  7. I love that dress <3
I personally think you can wear whatever colours you want when you want and I quite often make fashion faux pas but hey if it makes you feel happy and confident then no harm done xoxo

  10. I love this outfit, who cares if it isn't so "fall-like". I never understood the white after Labor day crap. I mean, when can we start wearing it again?!! So stupid. And who really cares? How often are you walking around and think "omggg... that girl is wearing WHITE. How horrible." Rarely. If ever. No... never. :P Good luck this weekend! I wish TN wasn't so far from WI! Sea Marie

  11. I have yet to understand the no white after labor day rule. I wore a white blazer on monday to work and while I paused for a moment as the rule rung in my head, I said screw it, I wanted to wear it. I mean really-what's the point of no white after labor day?!

  12. I love your new hair color! ;) And I totally don't understand why you're not supposed to wear white after Labor Day ... Why? I'm intrigued!

    Happy midweek! ;D

  13. I believe in wearing pink on your wedding day, wearing heels for the grocery store, and CERTAINLY wearing white after Labor Day. If it makes you feel like the best you possible, do it do it do it ;)

I have never gotten the white after labor day thing either... So I wear white whenever I darn well please.

I don't even know enough about fashion faux pas to know if I'm committing any. ;) But I have started loving shorts as a fall fashion statement. I'm actually going to post about that on Friday! :P

  20. Your hair looks smokin!

I frequently wear black and brown together; is that still frowned upon?

  21. The dress and the shoes go great together! Not too much so they look great.
I wore sneakers with a dress last week and I'm sure thats a nono.

  24. I am all for breaking the rules if it looks good and wear it confidently. I personally am a fan of black so I tend to break more rules in the summer than I do in the winter and fall. So, when I want to wear white is often limited, but if I want to wear it in October I will - and I think everyone else should, too.
    Much love,

your dress looks super cute though, who cares about that silly rule!

  32. Definitely ok to wear white after labor day! I think if it's cute and you like it, go for it. I love your shoes, the color combo is really fun.

  33. that white after labor day is soooo silly. i hate when people say you can't wear blue and black together. i love blue and black together. or something like that.

i love how summery this dress is. i imagine wearing it to an outdoor party.

  34. omg! this outfit is perfect, as usual. i lovelovelove the hair. it makes me miss my red hair! i think it's okay to wear white after labour day as long as it's not a full white ensemble, so white pants and shirt and a white overload. i think the biggest fashion faux pas i am guilty for is matching sporting so many different patterns and colours that don't typically go together! but i say if you are can make it work, then there are no rules anyway!

    xoxo

  35. You are definitely right, those shoes and the dress are the perfect match! So right together. That dress is sewww cute.
