Currently In The Works...

As silly as it sounds, I've been hard at work on a little blogger e-course since March. The subject: PR for bloggers and small online businesses. The idea first came to be when Mike and I were driving in the car way back when. Like some random bolt of lightning it just dawned on us. I'm not sure how the conversation started... maybe something like me expressing my distaste for the blatant lack of professionalism on both sides of the fence when it came to partnering up with other brands/bloggers. Either way, we started snowballing ideas. Days passed, weeks passed, and then months. I was so overwhelmed by how much information there was and how I was going to manage to localize it to one place. Six months later and it's still not finished, but it's well on it's way!

I've searched high and low for an ecourse/ebook like this and I simply haven't found one. Darren Rowse (ProBlogger) came out with one called Guide to Blogging about your Business as well as one called Guide to Online Marketing (each of those links actually gets you 50% off the prices). I'm almost always into Darren's stuff but these were just too expensive for me (they're regularly $100!). I haven't read them and instead I've decided to write my own.

Blogging can be a tough game. Especially if you're into a niche market like fashion, tech or travel. That kind of spending can add up fast! There are a ton of blogs who are successful on little cash, and that's awesome! Most of us have to shell out money for an awesome layout, sponsorships, business cards, etc etc. We don't have $50+ to throw into an ebook.

My Blogging PR ebook will be designed with multiple niches of online personalities in mind. Maybe you're a fashion blogger, craft blogger or an Etsian, whatever! I hope I can share some bits about how to successfully manage your blog while exceeding your growth potential!

Topics will include things as important as sponsorships (offering them and buying them), understanding your traffic and stats, blog/brand branding, how to handle "haters" or hate mail, how to attract readers (and more importantly: how to keep them!), honest and unbiased reviews, how to politely decline/turn someone away for sponsorship/review/etc, ways to promote yourself without being "spammy", working with/contacting brands, and professional etiquette just to name a few!

Blogging takes a lot of time and effort. It's not for the faint of heart. If you're investing a lot of time and money into your blog then you hope to reap some sort of reward/benefit, right? Hopefully my PR ebook will help! I'm not some professional, know-it-all, expert or anything but I'd like to think that my knowledge of said pieces has increased ten-fold since I started blogging seriously a handful of years ago!

The ebook will also feature a much more extended (and refined!) version of the DOs and DONTs of Blogging! It'll be a labor of love but I can't wait to share it with you!

Is this an ebook that you would be interested in? What topics would you love to see covered?

(Above picture via Tumblr... and totally unrelated)

ETA: Since there's already been a buzz about affordability/pricing, the ebook will be priced absolutely no higher than $25 USD! Depending on the range I'm able to achieve with the ebook, it will absolutely be priced accordingly! Thank you for all of the support thus far! Obviously blogging wouldn't be quite as fun without you! &heart;s

  1. I would definitely be interested in something like that as long as it is really affordable. It sounds really great. At the time I can't think of anything else to suggest :)

  2. I have been interested in getting involved in an e-course that is affordable, and i'm hoping that this is this case with your one!

If I can afford it, I would love to get involved, because I would really like to push my business further!

  3. Absolutely. I think that you've done something wonderful with your blog & you've successfully developed a huge following of people who genuinely love watching you chase & obtain your dreams. :) I know that from time to time you mention that theres a lot of hate out there for bloggers & people who want to fly on the tail wings of your success, but I think you've done something unique by the way your manage your blog. I think you've captured an audience that cares for you & wants you to succeed. I've gone from one extreme to the next... blogging nearly every second of my free time, to not blogging for days at a time... Just because of the frustrations I've had with it. I would love to know what you could teach us. Very cool idea. :)

    Brandy

  7. It sounds great, I'm always looking for good advice and ideas about blogging as I'm so new to it. It seems to be a vital part of selling online if you're an artist or in the handmade/vintage sector and it's not always easy to know what to do.

  8. It sounds great. I'm still quite new to blogging but it seems almost essential as an artist hoping to sell online to have some kind of blog. I look forward to what you've got to offer!

  14. This sounds like a wonderful idea and definitely something I'd be interested in as the topic seem very relevant to my own blog and etsy shop, I'm always looking and willing to learn about new ways to promote myself and earn revenue so that maybe one day I can turn my hobby and greatest love into my full-time job xoxo

  16. That sounds great! It sounds like you have the important bases covered (I really can't think of anything else I'd like to see). I would most definitely be interested!

  17. um.. I am so terribly bad at being professional (especially in the e-mail department) that I'm actually blushing something awful now after reading this :p

I think I'll definitely be purchasing the course. If anyone needs it, it's definitely me. eek~

  20. i agree with the first comment! i would LOVE to read it, if it's a reasonable price.

  21. I would be definitely interested in that info, although 25 bucks it's still too much. I am a published writer. Price of books have to do more with cost of production than anything else. I write fiction and sell books in Spanish speaking countries. One (printed) book with an average of 10 000 words can't be sold for more than 7 US dls if the writer is independent. Not to say e-books make it cheaper since there is no printing cost. Obviously fiction is not the same than a business book, but for example, take Penelope Trunk, a writer in the US, considered the most influential writer about careers and entrepreneurship, worldwide, sells a limited edition hard cover book for 25 bucks. Actually, if you don't already read her, do it now. I guess all I'm trying to say is, if this is an Ebook, consider selling it for not more than 10 bucks. You can widen your audience if you list it on amazon and other databases and marketplaces, and if you keep it affordable.

Best regards and looking forward for your tips.

  22. This sounds like a great idea and $25 sounds reasonable. I would definitely love to learn about the tech part of blogging; like you mentioned stats and traffic and such. Also would like to learn about good ways to connect with other bloggers that you would like to do projects with.

  23. Making e-books is such a pleasure, I´m actually doing it myself but with different topics and illlustrations. The thing that I miss the most when taking all sorts of online courses (the best of which was from Elsie of a beautiful mess) is statistics. Most people don´t like to talk about numbers, especially when it comes to financial issues or visitors. In my opinion it´s part of the deal and it gives people a reasonable level of expectation towards their blog, instead of telling how stupid your e-book is because they are disappointed in the outcome. Very interested in your course!

  24. Sounds cool, I love your attitude that if you cannt find such a thing existing you'll make one your own! That's totally "honeybee-ish", at least that's how I "got to know you" on your blog ;)

    Good luck!

And the unrelated Garth pic is hilarious! :D Haven't seen these films for ages, must watch again soon...

  25. @ Anhelo: I appreciate your comment and your very valid point :) I'll be sure to take this into consideration when working out the financial end of the e-book. It's important to me, however, to also stay competitive with other e-books/e-courses from other bloggers. While hard copy books may be a very low price, instant gratification of an ebook/course with a very specific subject/target tends to be a wee bit pricier. I appreciate your mention of expanding readership while looking into places such as Amazon, I'll be sure to do that! At the end of the day I hope I can provide a very thorough and thought provoking e-book that will help expand the knowledge of many bloggers and business people while remaining completely affordable. Thanks so much for your input! :D

  26. I am absolutely thrilled with this idea. I've just recently started up my own blog which focuses on crafting, fashion, makeup, daily life and self love... and I just don't even really know where to start! I've been actively searching for information online, but like you mentioned, in can be difficult in a niche market to find the right kind of information on running your blog. This sounds like exactly what I've been looking for! As always, affordability is an issue, but I think 25 dollars or less is a fine price for such valuable information! I hope that it will come out soon- I need it like, NOW! Hehe :D

  27. Oh wow, I can't wait for this! I've done Elsie's Blog Love E-Course, which was great when setting up my blog, but now I'm in need of some blog promotion know-how to really kick it off now that I've got my blog looking how I want it. I'll be grabbing this e-course for sure.

  28. yes mam! I'd be interested for sure. I am always looking for new ways to grow my lil' ol blog! But I'm with everybody else, affordability is a big factor but I know you are always fair with pricing! <3

  29. Amazing! You're a true pioneer business woman. I love this idea.

I'm not sure where I'm taking my blog in the future but this is something I'd love to see more details of when it comes to.

  30. I would love to read what you have to say. As a blogger I think it's easy to get overwhelmed and an ebook from someone like you and not a generic product would be a lot easier to relate to and learn from. Can't wait!

  33. Oh yes absolutely would be interested! I 'attended' the indie conference (as Im sure youre aware what that is!) last year which cost me $20 and at the time I was fine with that cost, but this year my financial situations changed and therefore cannot purchase again despite how interesting and helpful it was. So yes, cost is absolutely essential, but I mean, it sounds like your offering different info(and potentially more useful info that I havent previously heard) so I'd be keen.

I definitely think networking (with sincerity) should definitely be included! Also, I love the combination of business and blogging in particular the crossover to more crafty topics.

Also, I think Id like to know a bit more about putting a $$ figure on yourself (ads, reviews, average per view etc) just for future reference as it seems to be something most bloggers keep hush hush about and Im just curious where they pull these dollar figures from!

    Cant wait! xxx

  39. Sounds like a great idea, and something I could really use! Those topics are all perfect, especially the 'gaining and keeping readers'! I've started 'serious blogging' about four months ago and I'd really like to make something of my work. I'll be waiting on your book!

  40. I would most definitely be interested in purchasing an ebook from you! I am so clueless about all of this, and I feel that my first few sponsors were SO unprofessional (and some a bit rude!) so I would love to take a look in on this and grab one up for myself!
