// M I X T A P E - v.2 // Jetty Bones

You know that exciting feeling when you find a song/album/band and fall madly in love with them? That's what has happened with me and Jetty Bones the past couple of weeks. I randomly stumbled upon "Coasting Lines" when I was playing Spotify Radio and I've basically had these 6 songs on repeat ever since. The first time I ever Kelc's voice (she's the badass babe behind Jetty Bones) I thought it was an interesting combination of Mindy White (Lydia/States) meets Hayley Williams (Paramore). Maybe that's just me, I'm not sure. But I'm totally digging the vibe.

"Lumos" is definitely my favorite track, followed very closely by "Second Death in the Rabbit Hole" - but truth be told there's not a single bad song on this album. It's just so so good! Fingers crossed Jetty Bones finds their way to Nashville sometime soon...

MIXTAPE V.1

♥ want to save/follow this playlist on spotify? here ya go!

I've had a few folks ask if I'd ever start my Mixtape Mondays back up again since I had been embedding songs randomly into my posts haha Well, here it is! I'm not sure how often I'll share them - monthly maybe? bi-weekly? Maybe just when the feeling strikes. I don't know, but I know they won't all be themed like they used to be so, hope you're cool with that.

Starting it off with these 10 tracks - They've been played over and over and over the past couple weeks so I'm working on getting sick of them ha! You do it too, right? Hopefully you'll find something you're digging up there. Let me know your favs if you get a chance!

May Mixtape - KaelahBee.com
MAY Mixtape : KaelahBee.com
If you know anything about my most recent tv obsession then you'll figure this mixtape out fast. If you're not that invested in my entertainment choices (hey, I don't blame you!), every song is from Hart of Dixie. Ugh! We're one episode away from being fully up to date and I'm so heartbroken that I soon won't have anymore to watch. Honestly, I should've just put a shirtless picture of Wade on the cover... I mean, c'mon, right?! Whoever does the music for HoD does a darn good job in my opinion. It's the perfect blend of country, alt-country, and indie/folk. I'm a sucker for female vocalists so the vast majority of my pickings are just that. Even if you're not a fan of "country music" I think you'll like this selection.

I have a soft spot for Schuyler Fisk and I only now realized that she makes up one-half of the band FM Radio! I've been listening to Mariah McManus on repeat non-stop as of late, too. Another favorite is "Say Hello" by Jesse Thomas!

Unfortunately a majority of these songs weren't available on Grooveshark when I tried making an internationally-friendly playlist. I even tried buying them on iTunes and uploading them myself but no dice! I promise you they're worth looking up if you've got some spare time to make your own little playlist! Next month I'll try to remember to check Grooveshark before finalizing my mixtape.

If you're interested in printing out the DIY CD sleeve, you can CLICK HERE, then right-click to save the image to your desktop. Follow the super simple instructions on the print-out and voila! You'll have a pretty little mix cd to pop into your snail mail! (Speaking of snail mail, peep the bottom of this post if you like sending/receiving mail!)

Speaking of snail mail: I finally opened up a PO Box and I'm getting back on the mail train! I used to "penpal" and write people pretty frequently, but it's been a few years since I've been in the habit. A lot of people expressed interest when I shared my thoughts on Instagram so I finally opened up a PO Box today! Below is my address!
I'm stocked up on pretty stationery, postcards, etc, and I think it'd be fun to share my snail mail happenings with y'all here on LCH. (Just be aware: I'm more of a "doodles, small notes, postcards and trinkets" kind of gal when I send out stuff. You probably won't be getting a 3+ page letter from me! I mean, you already read about me here haha Don't let that discourage you from sending letters though!) Any country, any city/state. Don't be shy! I'd love to be snail mail pals. Let me know if you'll be participating! xo

PS; Y'alls comments on yesterday's post were so awesome! I'm so glad y'all are fired up and on board! All of y'all who have been commenting lately, prepare! I'm popping through your blogs this week! ;)

April Mixtape
It's Friday! The last day of the work week, and the soon-to-be start of a wonderful weekend. This month's mixtape is perfect for fresh air, sunshine, and singing along to.

Since I dropped the ball on March (whoops!), I decided to make this one super awesome. Well, it's super awesome to me at least! These songs make me want to take a road trip (the first one, especially!) and make a video of the whole thing. Nothing like a soundtrack to set the tone for adventure.

*Please note: 2 songs have been substituted since I couldn't find them on GS!

Getting in the festive mood for Valentine's Day! Happy, love-filled music and all!

January 2013 Mixtape + Download

One of my personal blog goals was to share at least one playlist a month on the blog. I used to do it every Monday for a "Mixtape/Music Monday" feature but at some point I just stopped doing it. I really like sharing music that I'm currently into and I feel like one a month is totally doable. Here's my January mix! Let me know if you like it!
I also included a downloadable album art piece. CLICK HERE to save/download it! You can print it on any regular ol' 8.5 x 11" sheet of paper and then create your own album sleeve to gift to a friend or toss into your car. Just a heads up, though: It works best with white cardstock!

You can also listen to this playlist via Spotify HERE!

Any specific songs or artists you've really been into lately?

(snow image via)

PS; When packing up my office today for the move, I found a box of letters and postcards from former penpals and folks I met through blogging. I've been thinking about opening a PO box back up and if so, I'll send out my monthly mixes to my ~penpals. Let me know if you'd be into it!

Listen A Little...

It's been a while since I've been able to post a fun playlist for y'all! Grooveshark stopped working for me on Chrome and after about a month and a half I decided to try it on Firefox from the laptop and huzzah! It works! Here's a few tunes that I've been listening to religiously lately... Hopefully you'll find something new to love!

What are you listening to lately?

MIXTAPE MONDAY: a mish-mash.

Here's a little playlist to help get you through the week! No need for a case of the Mondays right?! Right!

MIXTAPE MONDAY: amos lee.

This week's mixtape is some soothin' tunes by the one and only Amos Lee. There's also a little bit of Norah Jones and Sarah Dobson because I really love those songs. Perfect for today's gloomy weather and brisk breeze. We've got all the windows open and we're about to get to work! It's a great way to make an otherwise humdrum day productive! Happy Monday!

MIXTAPE MONDAY: guilty pleasures.

I'll be the first to admit that the next couple of mixtapes these upcoming few weeks may not be everyone's cup o' tea. I'll also admit that the subject matter is far from something normally shared on this little ol' blog, too. What I mean by that is that below you will find some of the most memorable Top 40 songs to date... all things that I am reluctantly admitting to loving. Some of them are as recent as the past couple of years, and some as old as the very early 80s! These are songs that I also find to be a great workout mix. I'm not sure why, but they hype me up and put me in such a good mood. Yea... even that jerk Kanye. I'm sure there are a ton that I'm forgetting. Would you believe me if I told you I had a running list in my "Little Book of Ideas" of guilty pleasure songs?! I need to find that page!

I think this is a good playlist for wanting to just put some pep in your step. Work in an office and need some jazzy hands while typing? Plug in your headphones and play this little diddy. It always makes me want to get stuff done! So what if it's embarrassing!

Now... time for you to confess! What are some of your all-time favorite guilty pleasure songs?! (Really! I want to know! I probably love them, too!)

MIXTAPE MONDAY: i was fifteen.

Let me preface this by saying that it was 2003. It may or may not have extended until 2005 or so... but... It was a long time ago. Even still, I can feel my heart go pitter-patter just a teensy weensy little bit when I hear these artists and these songs. Yes, this is a playlist of my favorite songs from when I was 15. (I'd like to say "Oh but I'm 22 now and my taste is so much more refined" but the truth is far from that and I'm okay with it. I like what I like!) I remember dance parties in Shannon's basement and long drives to shows blasting Something Corporate and Taking Back Sunday. I remember the loud sing-alongs to The Academy Is... Every one of these songs may not have been 2003 gold medal, but these bands were more than certainly a staple in my adolescence. Seeing as many of you are around the same age as I, maybe you'll get a kick out of them, too!

Now I have an even better idea for my playlist next week! Oh man, I can't wait!

MIXTAPE MONDAY: beat the monday blues.

I think one solid way to avoid the humdrum of Monday is to have a great playlist to keep you going throughout the week. Of course I'm totally biased on all of mine seeing as I created them and it directly reflects my taste in music (sorry if it's different than yours!). Even so, if it's not your usual cup of tea I hope you'll give it a chance and maybe you'll find a new favorite song or two? While I may not have an office job or anything of the sort, these tunes help get me through a lot of work at home!

Happy Monday! I hope it's an exciting and productive work week for everyone! xo

MIXTAPE MONDAY: so many favorites.

I definitely don't mean to toot my own horn here but I'm pretty pleased with this playlist. So pleased, in fact, that I cannot stop playing it. So many of my old favorites... some are 9th grade old, others just a few months. I've featured several on many of my downloadable mixtapes, so you probably have a few in your iTunes. I hope the rest of them are a real treat! I remember listening to Her Space Holiday with my best friend Shannon in high school as we'd drive in my VW Beetle with the windows down. Electric President brings back so many memories of my sophomore year of college and my first summer solo in NYC... wandering around the East Village aimlessly. The feeling from White Daisy Passing by Rocky Votolato is undeniably the same feeling that I get thinking of home... Tennessee. And I'll always love California by Phantom Planet... including covers like this one by Mates of State. This mix makes me want to find all of my favorite people, cram them in my little Xterra and go on a roadtrip! I can't wait until March!

What are some of your all-time favorite songs? Why are they special and what do you relate them to?

MIXTAPE MONDAY: floating.

These songs make me think about what I'd listen to
if I could float on clouds all day.
xo

MIXTAPE MONDAY: soothing tunes.

Powerful voices and powerful songs. I hope you love this one as much as I do! xo

MIXTAPE MONDAY: an indie christmas.

I won't lie, I had to solicit the genius of my Tumblr followers for suggestions on what to use for this week's mix. Sadly my holiday selection of music is oh so limited. But they really pulled through! Here are some great tunes [a lot from the Target mixtape!] and I hope you love them as much as I do! I've found so many new favorites! Hooray!

PS; Sorry the player is so ugly! I chose a different one which was super cute and matched my layout but I'm having difficulties with it so I didn't want to change the colors in case I can fix it! Oof! Wish me luck!

What are some of your favorite indie Christmas covers?!

MIXTAPE MONDAY: sometimes..

Completely irrelevant to the song choices, and there's a twist: I'm not giving you the playlist up front. No sir. You'll have to download and witness all 10 tunes yourself! Why? Why not! I thought this would be a fun little change of pace (though minor) and you'll just have to trust me! If you've enjoyed my mixtapes in the past, hopefully you will enjoy this one, too! *(and I may or may not have accidentally erased the playlist so I don't really know what order the songs are in even though I have all the titles. Oops! Just being honest here!)*

MIXTAPE MONDAY: summer clothes.

This week's theme was supposed to be "guilty pleasures" but time just did not allow me to wrangle all of those delciously bad songs so that will just have to wait. I pre-made next week's mix so that shouldn't be a problem but today's is appropriate for the weather. It's so bitterly cold outside and it's spitting rain. It's not Tennessee's finest, that's for sure. But this mix is a perfect blend of summer time jams that will make you feel warm all over again! Enjoy!

MIXTAPE MONDAY: autumn came...

(click title to download)

I originally had a different playlist for this week but I've since decided to save that one for another day. Hopefully you'll find some loveliness in this one and it'll help you get through your week! Here's to another productive week for all of us! xo

MIXTAPE MONDAY: from where i'm standing...

Just a little mixtape to get you through the week. The first song has always been one of my favorites, and even more so now that Mike and I watched "I'm Reed Fish" the other night and Schuyler Fisk was one of the leads... She's adorable in every way. While I am basing this solely on roles I've seen her play and YouTube video performances, she seems so down to earth and kind. I like those kinds of musicians. Anyway!
