// Virginia Creeper - Maternity Style - 28 Weeks

I feel like I should apologize for the incessant "bump holding" going on in this post haha! We snapped some outfit photos while out and about in town yesterday and I really wanted to get a decent bump shot... and because of that, I almost exclusively posed with my hands on my belly (Baby Flynn was kicking up a storm, too!) The start of the third trimester has brought on a slew of new experiences. Not only is Baby Flynn way more active on a regular basis, but I'm actually starting to feel the "ugh" effects of pregnancy. So far it's been super smooth sailing, and for the most part it still is. But every so often I'm just straight up uncomfortable! haha Whether it's trying to do regular, every day tasks, or just lug this big ol' thing around all day - sometimes I just don't want to move at all. This crazy Tennessee heat and humidity only adds to that. I'm ready to hop into the pool! And the allergies! Ahh! Thank goodness for Zyrtec otherwise I'd just be that stereotypical pregnant lady peeing on herself with every "Achoo!" Was that entirely TMI? Sorry... haha! Whatever... we gotta keep it real around here.

This dress has become yet another pregnancy staple in my closet. I picked it up at Target the other week and I have worn it so much! The best part? It's not even a maternity dress! I was never a maxi dress kind of girl before getting pregnant, but now I'm seeing what I was missing out on. The material of this dress is super lightweight and breezy, but without being clingy like a traditional jersey knit. And the pattern helps hides any lumps and bumps... Heck yea! I also snagged this red cardigan from the Target clearance section on the same day, and I couldn't help but pair them together. When I got dressed yesterday I walked out into the living room where Mike was studying and asked "Do I look like a teacher in this?" His response? "Well, you don't *not* look like a teacher... But you do look beautiful!" haha! At least he knows how to soften the blow. Not that looking like a teacher is bad or anything. Obviously I was enough of a fan to wear the outfit regardless. Cardigans for the win! I'm wondering how long I'll be able to get away with cardigans this year... If this heat surge continues I'll be rocking the bare arms by next week. The only thing I hate about being so heavily tattooed in the Summer is the ink allergy I have. If my pinks or red tattoos get too much sun, they swell up and hurt like you wouldn't even believe! Anyone else have this happen? It took me years to figure out, but apparently it's pretty common.

Anyway, back to the outfit! I decided to break up the super patriotic color palette with this bright yellow bag. I'm loving super bright colors right now and this bag has been the perfect new piece to work into my wardrobe. It's big enough to carry everything I need, but not so big that I throw a bunch of useless crap in there. Anyone else really bad about that? When it comes time to switch out my bags I'm often overwhelmed by some of the junk I find in there. This specific bag is from the French brand My Biotiful Bag and they're just now moving into the US market. Everything in their shop is eco-conscious and uses organic, recycled materials. I really love this bag because it's so easy to keep clean. Normally I steer clear of bright, light hued bags because I'm afraid I'll scuff them up or stain them. I totally spilled a drink on my bag the first day I wore it out and luckily it wiped right off. Hooray for easy to clean things... especially when you're as messy as I am.

Today I'm hoping to steam clean all of the rugs in the house and start sorting some of the clothes in the nursery. We put together the crib this week (!!!) and we're hoping to go pick up our rocker this weekend. Once we get those situated we'll be able to start on the knick knacks and small bits. I still feel like we have so much to do, but I keep trying to remind myself we still have (hopefully) 11 weeks to do it in. I also need to be as productive as possible because Toby only has one week of school left! (Well, one week and 2 days!) Next week he basically has a pizza party, a full day spent at the park in town, and another full day spent on the playground... Being in pre-K sounds fun. Where do I sign up?! haha! Once he's home all day with me we'll have to sort out a new schedule so I'm trying to become as productive as possible in the shortest amount of time. Wish me luck! (If any of y'all are work at home moms, I'd love some tips!)

I hope y'all have a lovely day and an even better weekend! I'm crossing my fingers Mike won't have too much homework or studying to do and I'll actually get to spend some time with him. Y'all, this nursing school thing is no joke... It's going to be a longgggggg (one? five? seven?!) year(s)... Ahh!

PS; The outfit name refers to the five-leaf vine growing behind me in these photos! I just realized that it's kind of a strange post name if read out of context haha. I love when the Virginia Creeper vines start taking over the trees and fences around here. They're so lush looking.

  4. You look so cute! I love maxi dresses they are so fun, although sometimes people think I'm trying to dress fancy, maybe because of the longer length? I don't know? Yeah nursing school is so much work I never went through it but my sister did and I know she always had something to study.

    1. I've carried really low this entire pregnancy. It's really taken me by surprise. He kicks below my belly button and it's so strange to think my friends are experiencing kicks in their ribs haha

  7. Look into a good camp for Toby as the summer goes on running around with a small child alone is no fun for anyone even if it is half day or a few days a week.

    1. We have one local day camp that we've discussed sending him to. Our only hesitation is that it's faith-based and we don't subscribe to any type of religion. I'm calling to find out more though so hopefully it's more activity-centric rather than focused on religion. It could be the perfect balance for us.

  12. Love you dress! I'm gonna be rocking the heck out of those maxi dresses when I get pregnant! Although mine might all have to be hemmed since I'm a shorty.

  13. I totally have an ink allergy too!! I never knew about it until last summer, I was out branding and the pink flamingo on my arm swelled into a giant welt!! It hurt like crazy and none of the other tattoos on my sleeve were affected, so weird!!

  14. Cute! Sorry I missed this going up - I've been on vacation this long weekend and I just got to look at my blogroll again. I love this! I am discovering maxi dresses, too - sort of by necessity, since I am obviously NOT a dress person, haha. But man, they are so comfortable for giving you the ability to just let the bump breathe, right?

    Love that dress. Target is knockin' it out of the park this season, right?

  16. I've been living in my maternity jeans and flip flops. I have a skirt that I made myself that I might start wearing but I'm thinking that the waist band might have to go around the top of my bump. My Mum has a pattern ready to make summer weight maternity trousers for me but I've not been looking for fabric properly - I really should do that lol
