Watercolor Whispers
Okay so, this outfit post should basically just be titled "How many ways can KB tilt her body and hold out the skirt of her dress in one outfit post?" The answer? Five. Or maybe six... if you count the cropped photo. Want to know something even more ridiculous? This outfit was originally titled "Watercolor Whispers"... I know! Did you spit out your morning coffee? Ugh, so embarrassing. My brain has been so fried lately and that's all I could muster. When I told Mike (I obviously knew it was bad), he said "Omg Kaelah... no. You can't." Then he followed it up with "Let me finish cooking then I'll come look at it and help you pick something not as stupid." His suggestions: Purple Rain (really), Floral Mist, Purple Flowers, Royal Garden, and Watercolor Garden. Obviously equally awful, but hey, he tried! We just chose the one that felt the least redonk and ran with it. That's true love right there... I think. Blogging is weird.

So hey! About this outfit! I snagged this dress at (Can you guess?!)... dun dun dun... JCPenney! HA! They didn't have it in my size at the first JCP we went to a few weeks back, but I found my size on clearance (!!!) at the second one. What a lucky score! It was just $20 and so so worth it! It's a Liz Clairborne dress and I love it. The fabric, the fit, and the pattern. I tossed it on to run errands in Columbia yesterday. Nothing fancy (look at that hair! Yow!) but something appropriate enough to buy 5 gallons of deck paint in haha! Check out our pressure-washed, sad excuse of a deck in the background haha. Mike actually started painting the deck floor last night and it looks so much better already! Fresh barn red for the win!

Yesterday was my first full day back in the office in over 2 weeks. I tended to emails, worked on design work, and tried to prepare the blog for this week's posts. I also painted wooden signs until my hand felt like it was going to fall plumb off! I have a whole other batch to paint today but I love looking at them all once they're done! I have another two dozen coming my way (sizes M through XXL) so if you wanna snag one for you or as a gift, let me know! I also offer to add a permanent note to the back of the sign (in case you want a sweet message there) and to gift wrap 'em! Email kaelahbee@gmail.com to reserve yours :)

I hope today includes some pool time! It's the perfect weather for it! xo

  11. I sometimes have trouble giving my post the proper title as well. I must say the dress is beautiful. Even though I don't wear dresses yet. I'm taking that process slowly. I've visited stores and tried on dresses but, have not yet purchased one. One day I'll have the courage to purchase one and wear the heck out of it. Until then I'll just enjoy the pretty dresses on you.

For real though, that dress is beautiful.
    Total babe.
Also, am I the only one with Careless Whisper stuck in my head now?

  18. OK so first of all I was going to say that I LOVE your hair in these pictures lol and secondly- I love love love that this dress is from Penney's. So many fashion bloggers have me feeling hopeless that I'll never be able to emulate their style because I just *can't afford* ANYTHING they wear, but I can totally afford Penney's, and I love this dress and may just have to venture out and see if I can find it, too.

  19. (apologies if this is somehow a double post, Blogger is acting weird)

So first of all, I was going to say- I LOVE your hair in these pictures! haha and secondly- I love that you bought this dress at Penney's. More often than not, fashion bloggers leave me feeling like I could never emulate their style because I just plain can't afford *anything* they wear, but I can TOTALLY afford Penney's- so I may just have to check and see if I can find this dress next time I'm there!

  21. Every now and then I'll pop into a JCP and find some surprisingly cute things and think, "I should check this out more often!" and then never do, haha. Cute dress and I dig the bright nails. :)

  22. Ooh, I wish we had a JCPenney near me! I could totally rock this dress this summer.

  23. I love this dress with the navy bands and floral pattern. I like seeing the way you style pieces like this because it reminds me that we can wear whatever we like. A girl with beautiful tattoos can love dresses and cardigans and I can love and wear whatever I want. Thanks for the reminder!

  24. All your outfit posts lately are making me wish we had JCPenney in Australia, it looks like they have gorgeous dresses.

    You are looking lovely! :)

  25. I work there and I was in love with that dress as soon as we got it in! It looks just like a watercolor painting.

  26. I love high-low dresses with the navy bands and floral pattern.

  27. I'd say it's high time Penney's hooks you up with some giveaway action! It's the only place my husband will buy his socks and underwear, lol. I myself bought a great bra there a few weeks ago ($22 for a 34dd bra -- what a steal!) I'm not really in the market for new dresses, but more people should consider JCPenney's, I've shopped there since I was a little kid.

  28. I love this dress! The watercolor is so pretty and I love the unexpected bold stripes at the bottom. I guess I need to get myself to a Penney's :)
