Okay, so first things first... You wanna feel tan? Put on an orange dress! I mean, I'm getting fairly dark this summer (without really trying) so I finally don't look adopted (Both my mom and stepdad are really dark skinned). But few things can make me look and feel darker than a bright ol' orange dress! I picked up this orange eyelet fit and flare dress at Old Navy a few months back when I spent the day shopping with my mom and Nana. It was hard to resist the other 7 or 8 color options! I ended up only snagging the orange because that felt like the responsible thing to do (but it's currently on clearance so don't be surprised if you see all of them here soon!) I've only worn it once or twice before yesterday, but it finally made its way to the blog. I accidentally bought it one size too big so you can barely even see that I'm wearing a belt with it in normal view, but it's still such a great dress. My only qualm: no pockets! If I ever run for President, I'll make it mandatory for all dresses to have pockets. Seems like a really great foundation for a campaign right?!

I ended up pairing it with a new Stitch Fix necklace that I received recently. Stitch Fix has been on fire with their necklace selections lately! I get at least one per box usually (Normally I get 4 dresses and 1 necklace) and I've kept every single one. I don't usually shop for jewelry for myself but there are so many great pieces out there! You can't tell in the pictures, but there are white pendants back behind the navy. It's the perfect color combo! I know my friend Merissa would agree - she's a die-hard Auburn fan! I also paired it with my Blowfish flatforms from Spring 2012. I didn't wear them very often to start because I found them awkward to walk in. After practicing a bit I feel like I have it down. I never realized how weird flatforms felt before owning a pair haha Is that just me, or can any of y'all relate?!

Yesterday I spent some time getting as much work done as I could before we all bailed and headed to my parents' pool. Now that Toby is all gung-ho about swimming, we can finally enjoy some relaxing time in the pool without feeling like we have a monkey on our backs. It was a perfect 1.5 hours of bliss.  We came home and Mike installed auxiliary ports in both of our cars and I spent some time plotting this week's blog posts and some cocktails. I've also been working on some fun posts for the remainder of June. I've been introduced to so many rad people doing so many rad things - I know y'all will love them!

My parents finally decided on a vacation destination for next month. We're all headed down to Perdido Key in mid July! We'll be vacationing in the RV for a full week, and spending our time exploring Pensacola, Orange Beach and Gulf Shores. If you have any spots we should visit while we're there, please let us know! We know we want to squeeze in at least one full day of film photography so if you're looking to book a shoot, let us know! We're excited to adventure around and find where all the fun is! I remember going to a water park in Gulf Shores growing up so maybe if Toby is up for it we'll take him there!

Here's to hoping today's agenda includes a little more pool fun time. I hope y'all are having a rad Wednesday! I'm going to hop off of here and compile the rest of June's mixtape!

  1. With that campaign, I would totally vote for you, haha! I love dresses with pockets!
I don't own a single orange dress I just realized, hopefully something will pop up on my next thrifting trip. You look lovely!

    Have a good week,

  4. I have given up on ever being tan in this lifetime (I go from white to burnt to white), but you look amazing! I've been wondering, what does the tattoo on your chest say?! It looks like volare, but your amazing new necklace is in the way ;)

  5. Orange looks so good on you! I love how many affordable dress options are there in the US. They're so expensive here in the UAE, especially if you're plus size. Anyway, great outfit!

    Worth a check. Enjoy!

  8. There is a pirate themed putt-putt golf place in Gulf Shores that is a lot of fun! I enjoyed it as a kid and my husband and I went to play there in May when I was down shooting a wedding.... it's just as much fun when you're an adult! And right across the street from that is a fun center, with go-carts, an arcade, and water bumper cars!
Oh, and if you like seafood, eat at The Steamer. It's behind the souvenir shop that has a large shark on the building (a good photo-op for you!), and across the street from the public beach parking area!

  9. I love everything about this outfit! Some of my girlfriends always give me crap when wearing orange.."It's an ugly color..hard to pull..but you can do totally pull it off!" - umm..ok thanks!? but you and I are proof orange is anything bug ugly. You look adorable and the blue color accents in your accessories is perfect. Love it! jess

  12. Ahhhhhh you're going to Pcola!!

Ok. For incredible vegan food, check out Sluggo's downtown. Try the cheeky wings with vegan ranch! Other favorite eateries of mine include Jerry's Drive In, which is no longer a drive in, but has some great southern cooking (the grouper sandwich with a side of hash browns is a staple- don't forget to drown everything in the magical pink sauce they have on the table). For pizza, try Ozone on 12th avenue. It's located in the basement of an old hospital, one of the most beautiful buildings in town. Another good pizza and beer option is the Elbow Room, which is kind of in the ghetto, but is a lot of fun for grownups with its red lighting (exclusively lit in red light bulbs!), Star Trek memorabilia (the star trek theme goes as far as the menu, where you can order the "Captain Turk" turky sandwich). I could go on!! When my husband and I lived in Pensacola we ate at Sluggo's like three times a week. I should also mention that Sluggo's does a happy hour in which you can get a tofu dog, chips and a PBR for around $2. Ok I will stop now. Have fun! I'll be there in July too.

  13. Pretty dress and I love the purse! We're trying to sneak away for a short vacation here soon and a friend of mine actually recommended Perdido Key! Funny! Weirdly enough I've never been there, even though we used to go to Gulf Shores a lot when I was a kid. If you know of any other beachy places within like an 8 hr drive let me know- we haven't decided on a place yet. :)

  16. That dress is stunning! It is SO annoying when dresses/skirts don't have pockets. Sometimes it is annoying enough that I breakdown and add them myself. Always look for side seams they make it super easy to add pockets! :)

  18. Sounds like a great vacation :) I couldn't imagine being in an RV though. All I want is the beach & I think we're going to Hawaii this summer! AHH! By the by, you look GREAT in orange. I am having an orange (and yellow) moment myself. Maybe this is the trick I need to look tan. Finally! Thanks for the tip ;)

  20. That dress is gorgeous, and I have those shoes! I agree that flatforms take some getting used to. I feel like they're pretty easy to walk in unless you're on uneven ground. It seems like anytime I'm on uneven ground I start to tip to one side and stumble. I think it's because of the way the bottoms narrow toward the heel, if that makes sense.

  21. I've seen this dress the past few times I've gone into Old Navy and never really liked the look of it, but seeing it ON someone makes it SO much more appealing! Might have to go stop in and see if there are any in my size left on sale!

  22. I LOVE the orange with the black and white cardigan! I would not have guessed that dress was from Old Navy for some reason. It looks much pricier! And you do look tan, hehe. Our pool isn't open yet, and I'm jealous it's been hot enough where you are to swim!
