I feel like you can't be a true 90's girl if Clarissa from Clarissa Explains It All wasn't someone you thought was "sew kool!" From her short-alls to the hub caps on her bedroom wall, she was pretty much the best. Not to mention she had a pet alligator. A pet alligator, people! Granted her style tended to skew much more mismatched and crazy, but this outfit totally reminded me of her. Apparently I was right on the money because Mike said the very same thing unprompted. Last I heard you could still watch all of the series on Nickelodeon's website. I might need to investigate this. Anyway, this dress was in my most recent Stitch Fix box and I loved how soft it was! Seriously this dress is so comfortable. At first I had it paired with an insanely fluorescent yellow cardigan, but it just fell kind of flat. Chambray for the win! I had to add in a pair of Converse, too. Mike thought I was lying when I told him this was the first pair of Converse I've ever owned. For some reason they've never appealed to me, but I've always loved how worn the white gets. Mike has a pair of white ones, too (that we bought at the same time ha!) and I always like to tease him about matching together when we go somewhere. He doesn't find it as amusing as I do. Go figure.

What did everyone get into for the 4th? It rained all weekend here, but it was nice enough for part of the day on Saturday to enjoy a birthday party for one of the kids next door. We shot off a few fireworks in the rain that night, but nothing too big. Sunday was spent running errands and shopping for bits and bobs for Toby's room. We worked on it like crazy yesterday so I'll hopefully be able to share some snippets later this week! My nanny was admitted to the hospital on Thursday for double pneumonia, and she's been in the ICU ever since. I've made a few trips to the next town over to see her, but my heart breaks every time I see her. I'm so so incredibly close to her and it's so hard to see her like that. She's a trooper though so we're hopeful she'll make a full recovery. If you can spare some good vibes sent her way, I'd sure appreciate it!

It's so hard for me to believe the first week of July has come and gone already. This month is going to be so crazy - Linden's birthday party, a work trip to California, getting Toby ready for 1st grade, and Mike finding a job. Let's hope we all make it to August in one piece, yeah?

Now I'm off to try and be as productive as possible. So much easier said than done.

  1. Heck yeah 90s throwback! Love the outfit! Your poor nanny. Thoughts and hopes to her for getting better quickly. Getting sick in Summer sucks. Hope she's better soon!

    1. I was so confused by your comment at first so I went to see what you meant - and yep! I guess so! I re-installed SkimLinks on my blog recently after not having used it for a few years. It automatically links relevant things in the posts, but as you can see it's not exactly perfect when it comes to context. (Just a heads up - you can hover over a link to see if I added it or if SkimLinks/SkimWords did!) I'll see if there's a way to toggle the settings so it's more relevant to the content. I appreciate you pointing it out and sorry you felt duped!

    2. Ah ha! Thanks for the trick, I had no idea. After being burned out on so many blogs, yours is always so refreshing and relatable (and I always love your links!!) so it just bummed me out and I had to say something. Sorry for being one of those people - you can totally delete my grumpy comment and I would not judge! Keep on being awesome, Kaelah!!

    3. No way, lady! I'm glad you spoke up because I don't typically look at posts after they've published - just incoming comments! It's relevant for anyone else who might see it and question me too! I toggled the settings and am hoping future posts won't have irrelevant ones (a handy feature would allow you to just mix specific ones but I bet that'd be hard to program haha) thanks for coming back to read my reply, ladyfriend! Xoxo
