Here's another What We Wore post! (See the first one here!) Now that the weather is finally cool (cold!) enough to wear tights, I've been slowly but surely breaking out my shorter dresses. It seems to backwards to do it that way - longer dresses in the heat - shorter in the winter, but whatever. It might be hard to see, but this dress has some gorgeous chiffon scallops on the top. I was instantly drawn to it because it looks so much like our Honeybean! I knew I needed to pair it with my striped swan cardigan because the bows on the swan are the same shade of pink. This is what I wore when we ventured over to work at the coffee shop for the whole day. Speaking of which - Mike and I brainstormed so many awesome ideas! For Porter Flea (last minute, I know!), for the blog, for our day to day life in general. We stocked up on some craft supplies and sorted all of our hand-drawn sketches. We're now in the production mode of several projects so hopefully we'll be able to share some of them soon! We thought up some really great DIYs to share for the holidays, but I'm trying to put a rush on them since it's already almost mid-November! WHAT! Time seemed to go much slower when I was younger... don't you agree?

Remember the kittens that I blogged about a few weeks ago? Well, they're still hanging around the house. One of the kittens got trapped under a work table we have on the carport one morning and I heard it crying non-stop. Mike and I managed to move the table to see it frozen in fear. I picked it up and handled it for a little while so it'd calm down, then I hand fed it, too. It seemed to warm up to me almost instantly and now she's a total cuddle bug. The mama cat seems to have run off somewhere, but this one little kitten will come right up to me any time I walk outside. The others are still terrified, but they watched me handle the other one and they at least accepted my kitty treats. I've posted on a few local sites about rehoming them so cross your fingers all goes well. I've taken to the one kitten so much that I think we might keep her. (Mike doesn't want to, but she's the most precious thing in the world! I can't give her awayyyyy!) Plus, I already named her so that means she's found her forever home, right?! (Her name is Hazel Ruth. She has gorgeous hazel eyes so...) But if any of you are in/around Nashville and want to adopt a sweet lil 8 week old kitten, let me know. They're not vaccinated yet (sorry, we just don't have the means to vaccinate every stray animal we come across) but they all seem to be healthy and sweet. I mentioned in my last outfit post that we took Toby out to the country to practice his photography skills. We did that again on this day (Tuesday) and he had a blast. We've been giving him total creative freedom to photograph whatever he wants, but we offer little tips and tricks to help him out. We're letting him shoot strictly film since there's an undeniable excitement that comes with film photography. Plus it only seems natural since Mike and I are film photographers. We can't wait to get his first roll developed this week! We hung up a photo "tree" in his room so he can take his printed pictures and display them proudly. Even if he ends up not totally loving it down the road, that's okay. I'm just excited that we get to share this passion of ours with him for a little bit. Who knows? Maybe he'll end up being a better photographer than us!

We're trying to make the short days count around here. It's hard to pick up Toby from school at 2:30 only to have it be pitch black by 5pm. That doesn't allow us much time to adventure and play outside. I hate it getting dark early as much as the next person, but I also sort of appreciate it being daylight when we wake up at 6:30am. Even if I sleep in, I'm wide awake by 7:30 because it's so sunny in our bedroom. I just wish the natural light would spread through the rest of the house! haha At least he's out of school today (Administrative day) so maybe we can all do something fun as a family. Goodness knows I have a mound of work that needs to get finished before the weekend, but I'm thinking a few hours of adventure won't hurt, right?!

Any exciting plans for your weekend? I'm going to be taking it easy and enjoying a house all to myself for the third weekend in a row! Mike has been working non-stop on the 2-story shed my parents are building and Toby loves to hang out with Grandma. That gives me two glorious days to nap, Netflix and bubble bath it up all on my own. "Me" time becomes such a luxury once you're married with a kid! Happy Friday! xo

  4. I think they really DID seem longer - Jason pointed out at one point when we were talking about this that when you're a kid, each day is a significantly larger percentage of your life - like, a year when you're four is ONE QUARTER of your entire lifespan so far. WHen you're eight, it's a full eighth of your life.

When you're twenty-seven, well... 1/27 isn't quite as much, and you have so many memories built up that your brain can just put itself on autopilot during certain things and you don't have to keep that time in your head at all.

Seems like itshould go the other way! Time should slow down when we actually get to remember all of it, haha.

  6. Every year seems to zip by quicker than the last! Love your cute family outfits and I hope the kittens find a home soon! There's something extra sweet about tabby strays. I recently started fostering cats (just one so far!) for my city's animal shelter and am already super attached. -steph

  9. I know you've been mentioning Toby using electronics for app time and game time. Yesterday, I found this gadget that I am definitely going to purchase for my 4 year old for Christmas (with the help of my aunt and mom!). Take a look, never know... it may just be Toby's new favorite thing to have!

  11. You all are so cute! Everyone is so well dressed. I really love your pretty pink dress here. The navy blue striped cardigan looks wonderful with it. I also love that you two are teaching Toby how to take pictures. I can't remember the last time I actually developed film but I remember it being exciting when I was younger!
