Blackened Heart - Kaelah Bee
Happy Sunday! I've been taking the weekends off from the blog lately, but I thought I'd toss up a fun little outfit to get my traveling started. Right now I'm en route to the airport and then it's off to Vegas for the week! I'm so excited to get there and see what's going on, but I'm also so nervous! I'm a pretty shy person in real life, but I'm trying to put on my big girl britches and get things done! I made a list yesterday of my favorite brands showing at MAGIC and I can't wait to see their booths in person. I know it'll be a great week. This outfit is a little bit different from what I normally wear, but you already know how much I adore Hell Bunny (they'll be at MAGIC, too!) I've had my eye on this dress for a while but wasn't sure if I'd be able to pull it off. The ruffles, collar, and the gingham pattern totally caught my eye, but nothing compares to the heart shaped pockets on the skirt! The waistband on the dress is a bit long for my torso so I folded it up about an inch or so. It made such a huge difference when it comes to fitting my shape. For some reason I really want to work up a Halloween costume around this dress. I feel like it'll be a regular in my Autumn wardrobe once the weather breaks here in Tennessee.

All day yesterday I could've sworn it was Sunday! Something about it just felt off. I spent the day overpacking, then unpacking everything to try again, then overpacking once more, then calling it quits. It's natural to pack 15 dresses for a 5 day/4 night trip, right?! haha To be fair there are a lot of fun events going on in the evening in addition to the tradeshow during the day. I've tried writing out my itinerary so I can make the most of my time. It's looking like Monday is my most "open" day so I'm going to try and hit up as many of the booths as I can, then maybe sneak over to the POOL tradeshow, too! Part of me doesn't even know where to start... ah! Here's to hoping I can make the most of it!

Mega thanks for all of your Vegas recommendations on the last post! I can't wait to check some of them out! I've got several posts drafted for this week, so hopefully I can finish the last little bit of each one and schedule them each day. Mike and I spent a few days this past week working on some awesome woodworking DIYs so I'm crossing my fingers y'all find them as cute as we do. Hope you all have a lovely Sunday! 1. I have this dress! I love it. Seemed like it might be a bit much when I was first considering getting it too, but now don't even think about- "oh, what? Heart shaped pockets? That's odd?"

    Have fun in Vegas.

  5. Aw I hate when the torsos are too long in my dresses. You did a great job making it work though. I think this dress is super adorable. It'll be great with tights and a cardigan when the weather cools down too.

    Have fun in Vegas!

  14. Here's a place you can visit in Vegas if you have time. My friend from college, Meghan, started it. It's called Stitch Factory, and it is a co-working space for designers to work on their collections. They also hold classes on topics including design, photography, makeup and hair artistry. This is their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/StitchFactoryDT

  16. Hi Kaelah - I love your blog, but I just have to tell you that I find it really distasteful that you would use the word "nappy" to describe your hair. It has some really nasty racial connotations and I think you should find a different adjective to use when talking about a bad hair day. Just my two cents.

    1. Hi Maureen! Thanks for your comment. You know, I never really thought about any historical context of the word, because I've never thought about it as a "bad" word... Though I *totally* get where you're coming from and what you mean with your comment! Thank you for taking the time to be kind and polite about it, and for bringing that to my attention. Never once have I thought about that term having racial connotations (and not nice ones at that!) Guess that just goes to show my ignorance and privilege! Thanks for making me aware. I'll be sure to replace the word with something less offensive now!
