First things first, does my dress remind you of a glow-in-the-dark mini golf course on some tropical island? Be honest. Just me? I feel like I'd glow under a blacklight... but I love it so... I picked up this dress several weeks ago at Ross on a whim. At retail it was $90 but I snagged it for $22 (!!!). I bought it and worried that it might be too small, but was pleasantly surprised that it fit! (The brand is Spense, for those interested! This particular dress runs really large. Like 1-2 sizes large, just FYI!) I had no clue what I was going to pair it with and honestly, this entire outfit is playing it safe. I think it'd be fun to pair with some platform shoes, but yesterday was not the day. Between errands and Toby's baseball game, I would've broken an ankle haha Maybe I'll try styling it completely different next time around.

Lately I've been so aggravated with my hair, I just want to shave it off. Would you believe that I totally attempted to curl it prior to these photos?! My hair normally holds curl insanely well, but lately it's been just a mess. No matter what mask or treatment I use on it, it's limp and gross and annoying. I feel like part of it stems from the fact my hair is in a messy topknot 99% of the time, but I just hate having hair all up in my face when I'm not attempting to look "nice" (aka appropriate for socializing). Hmph. I'm attempting a new deep conditioner so if it's not a total tube of crap I'll share more about it :)

Oh, and if you're ever feeling bad about yourself, just mosey on over here and check out this following photo. HA. Mike always manages to capture the most unflattering outtakes... he told me I make this face a majority of the time and that's honestly probably true. Now you all know the real me!

You totally can't see my necklace very well, but it's this beautiful silver, engraved necklace with milestone pendants. RedEnvelope sent it my way earlier this week as an early Mother's Day gift (so kind!) and I love it. There are 3 pendants: One says Mike (with an emerald for May), one says Flynn (pink tourmaline for October/our wedding), and the last says Toby (blue topaz for December). I love it. It's so sweet and beautiful.

I was really hoping we could break out the RV this weekend and go camping for Mike's birthday (Sunday!) but sadly it's looking like rain for the next several days. Home renovations and projects are put on hold. Toby can't play outside with the neighborhood kids. And the dogs get sassy and refuse to go out... ahh! Here's to hoping it holds off or only rains for a short while each day. Otherwise I fear we'll all get cabin fever since we've grown so used to endless amounts of sunlight and fresh air daily!

  1. I love you for including that last picture! No matter who is taking pictures of me, they always seem to capture at least one of me with my mouth open and arms outstretched, reaching for the camera to see the pictures haha! ♡♡♡

    1. Yes! Me too! The second to the last one is like you describe, and then usually the last one is my hand out, blocking my boyfriend from taking anymore pictures of me walking towards him..

  11. Our puppy absolutely despises the rain too. He's doing so good on potty training except on rainy days when he won't ask to go out and sneaks away to go in the house! Sassy indeed! :)

  12. Love the dress! So pretty and vibrant. If your hair isn't holding curl very well, it could be because of a build-up of product. The deep conditioning thing might help, but I've found this Neutrogena anti-residue shampoo to be really amazing (http://www.neutrogena.com/product/anti-residue+shampoo.do?sortby=ourPicks). I don't know how much product/hairspray you normally use, but when my hair refuses to hold curl, that's usually why and this shampoo helps a ton. I've also heard that using aloe as shampoo or even something like jojoba oil can help too, but I haven't tried either of those. Hope this helps, maybe :)

  14. Cute dress! My hair is always a mess. It's stick straight when it's long & I have to pretty well fry it to get it to curl with an iron. Have you tried rollers? Not sure it would work with your length but my hair used to curl much better that way. Well when it was longer anyway. Now I have a Mohawk, though, so there isn't a lot of styling choices until it grows out.

  15. I think your hair looks beautiful, but as a person with really curly hair, I'm in love with Nexxus Pro Mend shampoo and conditioner. The shampoo is so moisturizing that I don't always need to condition, and I use heat tools almost every day, so my hair can get pretty limp and dry. I also like suave leave-in conditioner in the gold bottle. It only costs about 3 dollars, but it adds a ton of moisture. Good luck!

  22. I think one of my fave parts of your blog is all the awesome stuff you find at places like Ross! None of this 100 buck business....you got the regular crowd covered lol!

You're necklace is so cute! Happy early mother's day :)

  23. i've buzzed my head twice— best decision of my life, both times. right now my hair is the longest it's been in like ten years! i like it when i have time for it but honestly i know i'll end up with short hair again soon. its just too much work! hopefully i will just keep adding more and more blonde throughout the summer and then be a little blonde pixie come fall— who knows.

oh yeah, the outfit— the last picture is my fave! my outtakes usually include super flared nostrils or a wacky eye =]

  24. This dress is so cute and I totally feel like you would glow under a blacklight, which makes it even cooler! But my favorite part about this is your necklace. SUCH a cute idea and sooo sweet.

  26. ahahaha! Your outtake picture is wonderful. I feel like I make more faces like that when my sister takes my pictures than when I take them myself. It's the talking and laughing that does it. I love that you shared an outtake!
This dress is so much fun too! I love all the pretty colors in the print. You could pair so many different colored cardigans with it!

  28. I love that dress so, so much!

In other news, I hate it when my hair tries to pull that crap with me. I had that recently so I treated myself to a fancy salon cut and blowout. And it was limp and blah again in a couple of days. Lame. My hairdressing savior of a friend told me to switch out my shampoo (I've been using a cleansing conditioner and tons of hair masks trying to fix it). Something about buildup of resistance to what you usually use. Anyhow, I used some moisturizing shampoo from Target a few times and she was right! It's like I have all-new hair again. I have no idea what "type" of hair you have, but I just wanted to throw that out there in case it helps at all!
