// Things I Love Thursday v.277 - F**K TRUMP Edition

Did y'all attend any of the Women's Marches? I made it to the one in Nashville, but I ended up having to catch up with Maya and Curtis after they had already come across the bridge into downtown. It took me a solid 45 minutes to park, but I somehow ended up scoring a great spot only 2 blocks from the rally woo hoo! The rally began after the march at Public Square Park in front of City Hall. Power Together TN organized a great rally and they had speakers from a diverse mix of Nashville based groups and organizations (Check out the full list of pre-march speakers + post-march speakers!) It was a privilege to see so many empowered people take a stand. There are far too many countries where free speech and the right to protest simply doesn't exist. We're here to make sure the US doesn't become another one.

I know, I've made my vehement Anti-Trump stance very very clear, but it pretty much floods my mind every minute of every day - I mean, how could it not?! I knew it was going to be bad, but I had absolutely no idea it could get this bad, this fast.

So here are some photos to make your heart happy, and then a ton of links that will make you feel a lot of ways.

// Trump ~took the National Parks Service Twitter account so some employees took it into their own hands to start a new, alternative Twitter account: @AltNatParkSer - seriously, go check out those tweets. All I can say is Fuck Yeah! I love that they're resisting Trump while also still tweeting regular NPS content.

// And the badassery of these folks just keeps growing... NASA scientists join the resistance with rogue Twitter account.

// Activists announce People's Climate March - Mark your calendars for April 29th!

// Why our feminism must be intersectional. This was a really great read, give it a bookmark if you can't read it now. It does a great job explaining what intersectional feminism means and how to use it in context. I definitely learned a lot from that piece.

// The Netherlands welcomes Trump in his own words. OMG watch this. Seriously, watch it.

// Want an incredibly easy way to contact Congress? Boom! There's an app for that.

// ZERO arrests were made at the Women's March on Washington. Oh... but I heard those protesters were "vile, hateful, violent baby killers"...

// Did y'all watch the most recent episode of Saturday Night Live? Snap! Aziz Ansari killed it in his monologue. He totally nailed it.

Seriously, fuck that guy.

  2. Girl, I just want to give you sooooo many high fives. I'm a blogger too and I've seen so many people going about Business As Usual.

Of course, I don't know what they're doing in their lives offline and maybe they don't feel they're in the position to publicly resist ... but as someone else who is NOT GOING TO SHUT UP about this administration, I love what you're doing. <3

    1. I understand blogs are "businesses" for some and there arebmany corporations thst haven't publicly spoken on the matter - no one wants to lose readers/revenue/partnership opportunities - but NOT speaking out against this kind of behavior, when you have the platform to actually influence interest and action, is a great example of privilege (see desmond tutu quote below). I don't mean to shame anyone based on their silence because like you said, we don't know what they do offline, but I really hope they're taking action of some kind. I plan to share as many resources as I can when I come across them, but if you ever have any links you think would benefit from more eyes, send em my way, lady!

  4. It really warms my heart to see so many people from all over the world coming together to make a stand and to let him know that we're not ok with what he wants to do. I'm not American and I don't live in the US, but it's pretty clear that his presidency could have huge impacts the world over. I would hate to see other countries take steps backwards for equal rights or healthcare because he wants America to.

    1. This presidency will certainly have more than just a ripple effect on the rest of the world. It's going to be a total tsunami, absolutely.

  5. Yes to all this!! We were able to go to our march out here in Arizona and I was so blown away by how many people showed up! The organizers were thinking about 5,000 would come but there ended up being about 20,000!! AZ has been a pretty darn red state but it really seems like we are making it more an more purple every day (one day I hope to see it all the way blue), it made my heart so freaking happy! While we didn't end up making any signs I did make t-shirts for the whole family, and even a onesie for our little guy!

    1. Wow! What an impressive turnout! That had to such a wonderful surprise to the organizers. Way to show up, Arizona! I didn't have a sign either, but we've got voices right? <3

  6. I love that you take a stand! Like MLK said (and replace the "man" with "woman") "the ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy." Silence can too easily be interpreted as approval.

I wasn't at a march (I live in Sweden), but I followed it on the news all day and cried, that's how proud I was over everybody! My favourite signs were "Mr Trump, I'd call you a cunt but you lack both warmth and depth" and "IKEA has better cabinets".

  7. I very rarely comment on blog posts but I feel i have to on this one. Your pictures sum up EXACTYL how the whole world feels about Trump. I'm in the UK and we marched as well. I am genuinely baffled and scared for whats to come. I'm sorry x

  8. We get it already. I really look forward to your tilt, but today I just closed out as soon as I saw the title. Just my two cents. Let the negative comments about this begin.

    1. Well not quite *as soon* since you wanted to make sure I knew about it (which is great - it's feedback) but then again this isn't really something i need anyone's feedback on. You certainly don't have to like everything I post, but I'm not going to shut up just because it annoys you. Maybe we'll see you next week!

  9. Just watched Aziz Ansari's monologue! "Im sitting here wistfully watching old George W Bush speeches? Just sitting there "What a leader he was!'". SO funny. But seriously, Trump is awful. I don't even want to be on my FB anymore I can't handle one more piece of bad news. I also can't tell whats real or fake anymore. I want to hate him for all the REAL shitty things he does, not the fake stuff that just hurts the cause. Im glad you said something though, one of the "big" blogs I read hasn't said one word about it and I can tell its because they're afraid their followers will be mad- hopefully its not because they or their staff voted for that man. Keep being awesome!!

    1. If sponsors want to stop working with me or readers want to stop reading because I voice my opinion, bye. I mean what's the point of trying to appeal to people who ~get bored of the real shit that's going down? I get the whole ~escapism appeal of the internet, but if someone wants all fluff and no voice, i'm sure they will have no trouble finding it.

  10. I personally don't think the guy deserves the little stars replacing the U and the C in the title of this post... he deserves a full-on, loud FUCK! yes, that's how angry I am too lol!

  11. Love this! The march raised my spirits a bit about all of this. It has given me hope that there are enough of us who are ready to fight for our rights to not be taken away. I wish I was in the States for it. There was a solidarity march here in Korea but it's illegal for foreigners here to participate in political demonstrations (and since I'm out of here in a month, and have a lot of $$ tied up in my last paycheck), I couldn't go. But I'm ready for when I get home next month.

Intersectional feminism is majorly needed right now. Us white women need to work harder to help our sisters of color, and to listen more.

  12. I love this!!

I also urge you as a mom (from me, a teacher) to look into Betsy Devos, his nomination for Education and call your local state rep to vote NO to her this week. Just like him, she is an extremely poor candidate for the job in front of her.

I am praying that some good will come out of his presidency, but right now I just can't understand why or how he was elected.
