I'm sure most of you who have kids and practice any type of attachment parenting has likely heard of MommyCon, right? We all loaded up and headed down to Atlanta in February to the closest MommyCon location. Well, now the team behind MommyCon has put together a 3-day conference dedicated to the art of babywearing! YES! The WEAR Conference is happening in Chicago at the end of May. The Windy City will be overrun with all the babywearers from May 27-29th! My kind of people!
As an educator and avid wearer, I know just how amazing the benefits of attachment parenting can be. I never dreamt that this would become such a passion of mine, but I'm so glad it did. I think my experience with helping other families wear their babies definitely lends itself well to my doula career. I'm trying to see if there's any way I can swing 3-4 days away from the Flynn fellas so I can get up there and enjoy the conference for myself! You can choose from a variety of ticket options: 1 day passes for Friday, 3 day passes for Friday through Sunday, and the Ultimate Educator package (!!!) which includes a 3 day admission and an educator kit meant to help start a lending library. Seriously the Ultimate Educator package is to. die. for!

A winner will be chosen at random next weekend, and contacted shortly thereafter. Good luck! Hope to see some of you there!

I wore my first born all the time! Everywhere I went people asked me about it and I loved talking to people about my slings and how I could get so much more done. My son is 33 lbs now at 19 months and I am pregnant again so I don't wear him much anymore but am excited to wear my next babe due August. I think it'll really help out while I'm chasing around my toddler 😊
ReplyDeleteI've worn 2 babies/toddlers now. I have used several types of carriers and the easiest and most used around here is the backpack carrier. Both hubby and I can use ours with both our littles.
ReplyDeleteI don't actually want to win because I know I can't make it there (I'm all the way in AZ!) but I just want to show support and love for baby wearing! I've been wearing my 14 month old from day 1 and love love love my woven wraps. Such a life saver!
ReplyDeleteI discovered baby wearing when my first daughter was a few weeks old, we stretchy wrapped it for awhile and a saved up for a SSC! We got our Boba 3G and used it for years! Now I have a 9month old and we've been baby wearing since day 1! We have the stretchy wrap(that she's too big for now) ring slings, and the same Boba 3G! Would love to upgrade to a new SSC but just can't afford it at the moment! :)
ReplyDeleteI love wearing my 11 month old! I just recently got my first ring sling and love it!
ReplyDeleteI started wearing 5 years ago with my oldest. We started with a Moby wrap and I quickly discovered I was not a wrapper. When she was big enough I bought a used Ergo and fell in love with SSCs! As she got older and more mobile I didn't wear her as often. When I had my second daughter in September I was determined to wear her more than I did her sister. I bought a Beco ring sling and a Baby K'Tan. After a lot of trial and error I got the hang of the ring sling. Once she hit a huge never ending growth spurt the sling hurt my shoulder too much. So it was back to a SSC. I bought a LilleBaby and then discovered Tula! I absolutely love wearing my daughter anywhere we go. She smiles when she sees me buckling the Tula on. I love how close she is to me and when she looks up from the carrier and grins. Babywearing makes being a busy mom so much easier.
ReplyDeleteI started wearing with my first -- he had a tough time settling down to sleep, except when he was snuggled against his mama. So, to make sure my boy got the rest he needed, I wore him during nap times and "wore him down" at night until he was old enough to start the process of figuring out how to turn off (which were still learning at 2 1/2 and he still LOVES to be worn... All 42 lbs of him). I now have two littles at home and I just don't know what I would do without it! My baby girl loves to be involved in everything her big brother is doing another one and I don't want to skip a beat with my firstborn so I get to enjoy the best of both worlds… Wearing my baby girl and playing with my baby boy!
ReplyDeleteI'm a mom of 4 and babywearing educator for my local group. WEAR is going to be awesome!
