// YOU + ME : DIY Moss Marquee Letters

I'm so excited to share this fun little DIY I did for our above our headboard in our bedroom. A couple of the Michaels Makers gals had a chance to get their hands on the new Heidi Swapp Marquee Love collection letters that just came out in stores. We were able to pick our word/phrase and style them to our liking. Someone had already done some cute ones using scrapbooking paper on the inside, so I decided to make them match our room a bit... with moss! I wasn't really sure if it'd work, and once I actually started doing it I was like "Oh my goodness, what have I gotten myself into?!" but luckily it was SUPER fast and SUPER easy! More details below!

This project is so insanely simple it's almost not even worth being called a DIY. But I'm going to tell you how I did it anyway! All you need are some of the Heidi Swapp Marquee Love letters from Michaels, some Mod Podge, a paintbrush, and a couple bags of craft moss! I used almost 2 full bags for the 6 letters, if that helps you at all.

Each letter comes with a little paper stencil so you can use it to cut out scrapbooking paper, etc. I put the moss straight on the stencil at first, but it got a little hairy when trying to figure out how to get it back on the letter. Instead, I put the stencil on the letter like it was the finished piece, popped in the bulbs and added the lights in the back. Then I used my paintbrush to cover the whole inner part of the letter (the stencil, if you're following me) and then I just plopped in some moss. It stuck without any issues and it was so much easier to work around the bulbs that way. I just willy nilly threw that Mod Podge on there, too. Don't be shy!

This craft was so insanely simple. Seriously. Toby popped all of the bulbs in for me, Mike strung in the lights, and I did the moss (we were on a deadline here!) Toby honestly could have done the whole thing himself. (He's already asked to get some letters next time we go to Michaels because he wants some in his room too haha) Each letter is powered by its own individual battery pack, and it can start to add up if you have a lot of letters. Each one takes 2 AAA batteries! But it's a quick switch in the back and it's lights out! I love the way they look even when turned off. The moss is such a fun addition I think. These would look so lovely at a wedding! Now I just wish we had had them at our wedding haha

Our room is slowly coming together, even though I had hoped to have it done well before Linden's arrival. I guess nothing is ever truly finished right?

Buy your marquee letters online HERE or stop by your local Michaels to check them out!

Anyway, what do you think? Would you style up some moss covered marquee letters? If so, what word/phrase would you choose?

PS; Sorry for the crazy tone differences in the photos! We shot these last night because I managed to not have batteries *or* nails on hand... One of these days I'll actually be prepared. But until then...
