Tequila Sunrise - Kaelah Bee
I feel like a good way to start this blog post is by telling you how much I loathe paisley pattern. Seriously, I hate it. I dislike few things as much as I dislike paisley. Yet here I am wearing it. I know. I kept going back and forth to wether or not I was actually going to purchase this dress a few months ago. I kept trying to block out the paisley and focus on the undeniably perfect pairing of orange, fuschia and yellow. Mike was not sold, but I'm glad I gave it a shot. Originally priced at $89, I managed to score this one for right at $20, and I'd consider a $70 savings a success. This dress just makes me think of Mexico. I have a flight tracker set for every couple of days to track the price of two tickets back to Cancun. I'd really love for us to be able to go back for our 1 year anniversary (it's so soon!). Prices this year seem to be sky high so I'm holding out hope. I want to spend as many days as I can submerged in the crystal clear waters of Akumal, snorkeling with sea turtles. Ah, Mexico! I didn't think I'd love it as much as I did... but now I only want to be there!

I received the perfect 41Hawthorne necklace in my latest Stitch Fix and I instantly knew it'd be perfect for this dress. It's a little hard to see (darn my lack of close-up!) but it's awesome... just take my word for it haha I have so many amazing necklaces to share from Stitch Fix soon! Seriously, if you sign up, request some of their new Bauble Bar x Stitch Fix pieces, or anything from 41Hawthorne! (Actually, don't. Or at least wait until I own them all haha I don't want to miss out!) I wore it all with my ShoeMint wedges and a white purse I picked up the last summer I lived in NYC. I feel like it's the perfect Summer pairing, but of course I'm biased.

This weekend ended up being a slight bust in the way I didn't make it to the blogger meetup Saturday. I was so bummed. It's hard being an hour and a half away when things like that are happening. Some last minute things came up (don't they always?) and I had to stay planted in town for the day. We made up for it later that night though. We all piled in the car and headed to the drive-in to see Monsters University and Now You See Me. Both were fabulous. I'm such a sucker for animated movies like that. Anyone else excited for Despicable Me 2 this week?! Those minions! Toby had a blast and that's really what matters.

This week we're hoping to get as much done on the work front as we can. We're counting down the days until vacation (11!) and we're getting antsy. We're going to try to finish painting our deck today, and maybe even get around to our new carport/front porch railings. We spent most of yesterday cleaning the house top to bottom. It's so clean and smells so fresh! That doesn't last long with a 4 year old though. Our garden is almost ready to start harvesting -- squash and peppers galore! On the not so great end of the spectrum, Georgia started limping pretty badly yesterday. We checked her back paw and massaged her leg hoping that it'd just work itself out (She has a tendency to lay on the hardwood floors and her leg goes to sleep, then she limps until it wakes up) but last night it got substantially worse (yet she appears to be in no visible pain? Anyone know anything about dogs and their pain tolerance?!) We're taking her to the vet today and hoping it's nothing serious. She probably sprained it jumping off our bed or something, but I'd rather know for certain because I hate seeing her all caddywhompus.

Well, I hope y'all have a lovely Tuesday! xo

  2. I also loathe paisley! But you're right, the colors on this dress are perfect. Maybe it helps that the paisley isn't blue...

  10. I'm a vet tech, so I obviously run into a lot of hurt/sick pups. Dogs (and cats!) try to hide their discomfort as much as they can. The fact that you can notice her limping means that it actually probably hurts pretty bad. Hopefully it's something that you'll be able to cure with rest and anti-inflammatories, but it could be something more serious like a cruciate tear. Keep us updated!! I love hearing about little Georgia and Pip.

    Good vibes your way!

    1. thanks for your comment meredith! we took her to the vet and turns out she's got meniscus inflammation/knee sprain. the vet gave us some meds for her and said she'll be okay. apparently that's super common in her breed. a sigh of relief! hate seeing my babes in pain.

  13. That's such a pretty dress. I actually love paisley! (I know; I am 85 year old man in a 30 year old's body). I'll have to go and hit up the Ross near me. It's been a hot minute, and I'm wanting some great summer dresses.

  14. I'm looooving the colors of this dress, and I actually really loathe paisley as well, but it works here. It looks very Spanish-influenced, and not like, frou-frou-y, so it looks beautiful. And Monsters University was SO adorable.

  15. phyllis has hurt her leg a few times (always the back one n the side where she is missing the front leg) and the vet told us that as long as she will let you pull on it/touch it it is probably just strained and it isn't serious, she just needs to rest. which was nice of her to let us know because it gets expensive taking her in all the time! before she has given us a dog anti inflammatory and once a sedative because she wouldn't stop hopping around and let it get better!

    1. this was a super helpful comment, thank you Rae! i was quite impressed with our new vet and how upfront he was with ailments that weren't "vet necessary" - apparently our past vets at Banfield worked on commission... that explains our insane vet bills each time our pups even whimpered haha

  16. there are a lot of dog breeds out there that tend to not show any signs when they're in pain. I think it goes back to the pack mentality and how they would leave weaker ones behind and sometimes worse..... I would watch the pup for a couple of days then take her in :) my dog was acting up awhile back, but didn't do anything when I messed with her leg, but it continued. however, the moment she realized that we were at the vet and not somewhere fun, she was instantly back to her normal self.

dog behavior aside, I hate paisley too, but I ADORE the color combo and fit of that dress.

    1. thanks adeline! luckily it just turned out to be inflammation in her back leg so some meds put an end to it quickly. the vet told us to just keep the leftover pills for when it (inevitably) happens again. of course he had to rag on her for her weight a bit haha, but she's our lil angel :P

    2. Thanks so much for letting me know! There's not many Ross stores nearby me, but I'll definetly be hitting one up when I go on vacation at the end of the month. :)

  24. My bulldog would sprain his legs once in a while from jumping up and down from the couch when he got older. If I were you, I would just baby Georgia for a little while. Help her on the couch and whatnot. She's still pretty young so it'll probably work itself out. As for pain tolerance, mine never really showed signs of pain. Bulldogs are really tough. She's probably not in a ton of pain from this though. I hope the vet says she's fine!
