Onyx - Kaelah Bee
I feel like a classy freakin' lady in this outfit. I was a little unsure of the dress when I first got it (Stitch Fix! Heyyoo!) because I thought it was too "curve hugging" around my waist. Mama's got them hips, ya know? But after wearing it out and about (and letting the photos sit in upload-purgatory for a few days), I now love it. I feel classy and sexy and happy to show off those hips. I felt so dressed up, but also perfectly casual. I really dig that melding of "appropriate" style situations. Did that sentence even make sense? haha Back to the dress - it's insanely well made and the perfect thickness. I'm all for lightweight and flowy dresses for the humid Summer, but I really really love a dress with some weight in the fabric. Something about the structure of this dress makes it feel more elegant (but not so heavy that it's hot and suffocating). I also really dig the pleats at the top of the bust. If you are a Stitch Fix user (or you want to sign up!), you should totally request this dress if they have it. Ugh I love it so much.

Have you noticed how crazy I am over statement necklaces as of late? I know, just call me Kim Zolciak because I am oh so ~*Tardy to the Party but whatever. I'm digging them! Of course I couldn't wait to whip out this little black and gold number (also from Stitch Fix... surprise surprise! It's one of their pieces in collaboration with Bauble Bar!) and what better time to do it than this almost-all-black outfit?!

This weekend we decided to load up and head back over to the Pink Cadillac Drive-In (for the third or fourth time this season!) to see Despicable Me 2 and Man of Steel. DM2 was hilarious and adorable in every way. I'm not a big Superman gal (I've never seen any of the other movies) and I didn't watch the first half-hour of MoS, but the rest of it wasn't too bad. I'm more of an Iron Man girl honestly. I'm really bummed that the drive-in will most likely be shutting down for good next month. Apparently they can't afford the new digital projectors. I grew up going to that drive-in so it's just super heartbreaking. I'm glad we've been able to go so often lately. Toby totally loves it. Where else can you see 2 brand new movies for $7?! Insanity! If you've got a drive-in nearby, head on out, snag you some tickets and a bucket of popcorn. Help support the old Americana businesses alive. They're such a special slice of history!

Yesterday Mike and I finally made some adult decisions... and by adult decisions I mean we finally hung some artwork in our house. I've tip-toed around hanging prints and photos for nearly five months now and that's just ridiculous. I act like one little hole in the wall is going to shift Earth's gravity haha I'm honestly quite stoked on how much we managed to get accomplished in the "hanging stuff" department. The living room is just one or two frames shy of being complete, and the hallway is well on it's way! We hung some of our large Anderson Design Co. "Nashville" prints in Toby's room, too. This week (hopefully today!) we're going to build a small "desk" of sorts to put on one side of our kitchen and use as a workstation for Honeybean. We're whipping up a couple dozen jewelry pieces to stock up in a new little cafe/boutique in Nashville this weekend. I'll be sure to share more info about that once we get it set up!

Here's to making this week the most productive one yet! I'm ready to breeze through these last 5 days and then spend 8 days with my toes in the sand! Huzzah! Happy Monday!

PS; It's been a long time since I've done an actual Stitch Fix "Haul" recap. Are any of y'all interested in seeing what I receive in my boxes (so you can maybe request them in yours)?! I was considering doing a "2 or 3 in 1" type post since I get a box every ~2 weeks (maybe a once per month post?). Just a thought! Let me know what ya think!

  8. I'd love to see Stitch Fix posts again! I'm not sure if we even have it in Canada but it's always fun seeing what you keep and don't :) I guess they are doing a pretty good job for you lately if you're still subscribing and getting them twice a month!

We still have a drive in about an hour away from us but close to my boyfriend's family and I am definitely hoping to go once or twice this summer. It's so much fun.

  9. That dress is so so pretty! I love how you have it styled! Look at your tan girl! haha. I haven't tanned since I lived in CA- I just never seem to have time for the pool. I am really sad that the Pink Cadillac is going out of business. I have driven by it so many times and never actually seen a movie there. Maybe we'll try to get down there this month. :(

  11. This dress is stuuuuuunning on you! I love dresses with a little weight to the fabric, and this shape is beautiful on you. Super classy!! Loving the necklace you paired with it, too. And oh no, that's awful about the drive-in shutting down! We don't have any right near where I live (it's a bit of a drive to get to one), but I'm determined to go to one this summer! And I'd definitely be interested in seeing more Stitch Fix hauls!

  13. I love your outfit. I wish they have drive through theatres in the UK, well at least I've never seen one. They sound so awesome. I didn't really like Man Of Steel that much either. Iron Man all the way!

  16. You look stunning! I love that you can change from rainbowcoloured extravagance to neutral elegance. Haha, not such a good description but I hope you get it. I'm always excited when I see your posts popping up in bloglovin, even though I rarely comment. Just wanted to say that once!

And by the way, yes, it would be awesome to see what you get in your stitch fix packages, I miss your subscription box posts!

  17. Glad to see things are going well!

I'm definitely jealous of that dress. Girl, I love your hips. I've got hips, too, so I definitely understand trying to find the balance between showing them off and then making them overstay their welcome in an outfit, haha.

  18. What a beautiful dress! I love how the top is made, it's so special!
I'd love to see some of the artwork you're hanging in your house!

  19. This dress is seriously perfect! And looks amazingggg on you. Mama's hips look pretty damn snazzy in this number!

Adult decisions like hanging artwork is intimidating... Because if you don't like it, you have to fix your wall. It's serious business, I'll probably be the same way when I move too.

  20. I would LOVE to see your more recent Stitch Fix hauls. I loved your past recap posts and like seeing how their stylists pick pieces for you. This dress is absolutely beautiful. I wish Ark & Co sold to the public instead of only through wholesale. Their pieces are absolutely gorgeous and the quality is impeccable for the price.

  21. You have a killer figure. I love this dress AND that studded gold bracelet. Work it, girl!

I too am a recent convert to statement necklaces. The bigger, the better. Greg keeps joking about how I am wearing body armor.

  27. This dress really does look awesome on you! I love the pleating details at the bust too.
That's so sad that the drive-in theatre is closing. I went to one once before it closed but I feel like most of them are gone now. Sad.

  28. Drive-ins are the best possible slice of america! there's one a few miles from my hometown and I always went to it on a free friday.

  29. If you and your family loves drive-in theaters so much and cater to the thought of small businesses on a day-to-day basis, why do you use your blog for the greater good and help that drive-in that may close down next month by having fundraisers, telling about it on other blogs, etc. I know there is more to you than just the cute stuff, so come on Kaelah and do it already!

    1. I can't help but read this comment as though it's written with a condescending tone (thanks to a sort of crappy evening) though that's very our of character for your comments. In case you don't follow me on twitter or IG, I've actually shared the thought of starting a crowd-sourcing fundraiser for them. There are many issues that lie within that though. The main one being that it's a small town, short "reach" establishment. The likelihood that people in Nevada, Russia or even Knoxville would care is small. It's a pessimistic view, sure, but it's also reality. These types of drive-ins are shutting down left and right, why would someone choose to keep our "local" one open vs their own? -- maybe you haven't been reading LCH long enough to know this, but I've donated 100% of my blog's income to charitable causes on *multiple* occasions. Comments worded like yours sting a little because it makes me feel like you come to my blog and only see conspicuous consumption. It makes me defensive because I make it a priority to be as charitable as I can, but I also can't take on every cause I'd like to. -- trying to host an online fundraiser has been an idea for the pink Cadillac for 2 months now, but it's not looking likely to happen. Many local fundraisers have been held, and I'm hopeful that enough of our neighbors will realize what a gem it is. To insinuate that I don't use my blog for good is very hurtful and misguided, but I'm hoping it was just a misuse of words and phrases. Or maybe I misinterpreted.

    2. Kaelah, after reading my reply and then yours, I realize how much of a bitch I just was to you and how it was totally out of my character. Even though these past several days have been extremely rough for me (imagine having to worry for the past three months about where you are going to stay and if it will be on the streets with your kid while having to cover everything up from DSS, which in fact is a long story and as of recently, our landlord gave us the approval to stay on our home after getting somewhere back on our feet even though we owe over $3000+ because of that long story), I do know it was harsh for me to have taken it out on you, especially since I have followed your blog from almost the very beginning (pretty much ever since you worked in New York).

Although I do not follow you on Twitter or Instagram and do lack the capacity of having enough memory to remember anything, I do know that this blog is more than just the pretty things and I do applaud you for being one of those bloggers who loves to support the local community and small business owners. Personally, I felt as though there should have been more than just supporting Pink Cadillac by viewing the films and even though I came off as condescending in my response, I do know I did not want to come off as such. What I really want to say is that if this blog is so successful, it should look toward readers to somewhat help fund something that you and your family truly treasures, even if its $1 from each reader (mind you, this blog has more than thousands upon thousands of readers). If anything, for what I did say above, should not counter-act this reply given that I am apologizing for the way I first responded to this post.

    3. I truly hate to hear that anyone is having a rough go at it, especially when small children are concerned. I do not feel comfortable asking my blog readers to donate money to me (even on behalf of another business) because I do not consider it a life or death situation. Yes, we do treasure our local drive-in, but no one will die because it's not there. The owners aren't filing bankruptcy- instead they're just moving on (if it does shut down). I get emails daily asking me to share or promote various crowd-sourcing fundraisers. Today I received one from a newly-diagnosed cancer patient, and a girl looking to open a bakery in her town. It's hard to say no to these, but if I posted every fundraiser asked, my blog would simply be that: a fundraiser database. I just don't feel comfortable asking my readers to donate money for my "entertainment" ya know? There are so many more important/more pressing issues out there. Yes, I do have a certain level of reach with my blog and I'd be ignorant to claim otherwise, but I never ever want to exploit my readership or take advantage, if that makes sense? It's a tough line to walk... Being "publicly" charitable enough, and keeping a certain level of privacy. People who come to my blog see what they want to see to a certain extent. They see me talk about dresses I bought, items I was "gifted" and trips I want to take. At face value it can be super shallow and self-absorbed. However I try to expose myself even just a but so people can see the things my heart truly feels, and the issues I face. Of course in comparison my griefs are much less stressful than yours (currently), but how are people to see that deep into someone's private life without them making it public? We all face trials and tribulations, and I don't feel comfortable asking for anyone to fund mine through donations (even for another person). Maybe that's wrong of me, but I can't know that the owners would even want that sort of help. Help like that can oftentimes be a burden. I hope that my readers can get to know me well enough to know that my heart is in the right place, and I want the best for everyone. But I can't (and won't) make it my mission to "prove" this to any/everyone. Especially if you think about the number of readers i have. i cant possibly imagine trying to please 10,000+ people, each with varying views and opinions. i didnt start my blog to appeal to the masses. but instead to share a (very small) part of my life. Thanks for your follow-up and apology. I hope you can understand where I'm coming from. By this point my comment is alllllll over the place and I'm not even sure if I made the point I initially set out to ha I hope things start looking up for you. If you ever need to vent or just want to talk, I'm always available by email. I can't offer much more than a friendly ear, but I'm happy to do that.

  30. Kaelah, I totally understand what you mean about not asking your readers to help with funding your entertainment and that's fine.

And thanks for letting me know that I have someone to talk to, definitely means a lot! :]
