Sneak Peek at Oktoberfest Haul + New Etsy Shop!

I know I've been promising in-depth photos of Oktoberfest in all of it's glory, but time just has not permitted such things. Well, time and the weather... A huge storm blew in on Tuesday when I wanted to take the photos.... they WILL be happening tomorrow though. So, until then, you get a few small sneaky-peekies and a first-hand shot of some things that will be going up on Etsy! (I'm trying to decide whether to make a new Etsy all together for these things, or just add them into my pre-existing shop.... Etsy sellers- what is your take on having multiple shops? Do you find it to be beneficial or just a hassel?

Thrifted at Oktoberfest: The orange television (it works!), all the cameras up top (sans the Instax 210), and the cameras over to the side! Also- the 1983 Tennessee license plate.

and 4 big ol' boxes of owl memorabilia! (This is what will be going up on Etsy soon! I love all of the little pieces but we risk looking like we live in a residential Goodwill if I keep them all!)

Outfit Post : Friday, August 20 + Thrifted!

Mike and I woke up this morning with the only plan of the day: adventure. We were going to set out and play with our new toys (read: films and cameras and what not) but the day went a bit differently (but still fun!). We headed to Urban Outfitters to spend our plethora of giftcards but were sorely saddened by the lack of fun home goods. Instead I snagged a dress and ruffled vest and Mike got some film (of course he did). Afterwards we decided to hit up the Goodwill Outlet store in Berry Hill. Good thing we did! We snagged some lovely items! Today's haul included: 2 Polaroid one-step cameras (yes, I know.. more!), 1 Polaroid Swinger Model 2 camera, a few bags (including a cool camera bag for Mike!), a Royal Traveler Carry-all, a sweet suitcase, etc. The typewriter came in the mail today via our win on Ebay! Isn't she pretty? We're going to try to get a replacement Royal emblem but other than that, she's perfect! I also snagged a burnt-orange peacoat and a sweet mustard-yellow military-style jacket. They both have awful shoulder pads (as pictured) but I'm going to rip them out shortly! I can't wait to welcome Autumn with fun bold colors!

We came home and I worked on some stuff for the 'zine that some lovely ladies and I are doing, and now I'm waiting to get ready for work! Phew! It's been a busy day and there's so much more to do tomorrow! Mike's step-sister, Laine, and her friend are coming up tomorrow to spend the night I guess. I'm supposed to work but I'm going to see if I can't take off and hang out with them instead. (shh!) I know I only work 2 nights a week, but sometimes they're just THE most inconvenient nights EVER!

Hope you all have a lovely Friday night!

Thrifted: Goodwill Hunting

I know there are some readers who aren't too keen on the thrifting posts that I've been doing (I understand if it's not your thing), but I also know that the vast majority of you love thrifting and so this is why I share. I wasn't expecting to find anything at Goodwill today (ours is so overpriced and just...ugh!) but I was pleasantly surprised when the very first thing I see when I walk into the store is a shark statue. YES PLEASE! Anway, I picked up a few things to add to my craft studio and whatnot. I'll just show some pictures!

Then I found a rustic golden ship for the wall!

Unicorn bookends that I just couldn't pass up! I love unicorns (in a very "Hi, I'm 6 years old" way). One side of each has a rainbow and the other side is solid white. I'm a fan of the solid (the rainbow is a bit *too much* for myself)

And then I happened upon these lovely next finds, both of which reminded me of Kaylah. The only thing that would have made the jars better is if they were red. The orange/yellow is still gorgeous though! (Especially since yellow is the accent color of my studio!) The inside of the gnome cookie jar was a gorgeous glossy moss green! So beautiful!

Gone Thrifting: An Exciting Find!

Mike and I went to Hohenwald the other day (as I had blogged here), and while waiting on my mom to get home from work, we decided to grab some lunch and hit up a local junk store. I say junk store because that's what it is. It's not a "thrift store"... it's a legitimate JUNK store. Well, anyway, while we were in there, Mike caught glimpse of a pretty vintage camera in a case so he asked to see it. Luckily he was smart enough to inquire if the shop keeper had any more and she said "I have a whole tub if you want to look through it. They're mostly older cameras though." Something clicked. Mike got excited. The next thing I know, he's sprawled out on the floor looking through mounds and mounds of vintage cameras and Polaroids. Rather than asking how much for each one (they weren't marked), I pushed him to ask about the entire huge Rubbermaid tub. The shop keeper gave a ridiculously decent price so we bought them there on the spot. We didn't even know what was IN the tub! We just saw Polaroids and said yes!

After lunch we headed back to my parents' house and unloaded all of the goods. In the box were 13 Polaroid cameras, various other vintage film cameras, a projector, and a few pieces of junk. But 13 Polaroids! In total I think there were 11 instant-Polaroid cameras! Win! (Probably a total of 30 cameras or more!) Most all of them still work and some even had exposures left in them! It was our lucky lucky day!

Mike brought them home and washed them all up a bit. They could still use another scrub but I just wanted to shoot photos of a couple before I put them on our shelves. :)

What is the best thing you've ever thrifted? I still love my 2 pairs of vintage fringe cowboy boots and my Guatemalan muu-muu! It's always a hit or miss but this time I think we hit the jackpot!

Goodwill Finds!

Mike and I had a semi-successful day of thrifting on Wednesday! While I won't blog everything we picked up (because some of them need to be painted, etc), I will blog our two favorite finds of the day! We headed up to Franklin and went to the Goodwill over on the North/West side of town. While we were there, we happened upon this little side table that we thought would be perfect for the entrance of our house to store a little bowl on for keys, etc. But upon looking closer at the tag, we were greeted with an unexpected little surprise!

Well, someone wanted to make sure this little puppy didn't work so they clipped the electrical cord, but luckily this is something Mike could probably fix. For right now, though, we're happy to display it at our front door as it makes for a wonderful accent piece and conversation starter! How lucky did we get?!

Also, we snagged ANOTHER Polaroid camera! In PERFECT condition! This puppy works like a dream! Currently on my last pack of expired Polaroid film, we've been playing with it all day!
