I told you I didn't totally forget about Thanksgiving! It's so easy to jump right into the Christmas spirit (I obviously have), but I wanted to share a little bit of the spotlight with the turkey-filled holiday. If you follow me on Instagram, you've probably seen me reference my "little turkeys" - I don't know why, but I constantly call the boys turkeys. I think it's a Southern thing, maybe? I'm not sure. But when I my Silhouette Curio finally got delivered, I knew I wanted to make Linden a "Little Turkey" shirt to wear at Thanksgiving.
There's seriously nothing to this DIY. I legitimately got some iron-on material, whipped up a "design" in Silhouette Studio, and ironed the design onto the shirt after it was cut out. It took me all of about 4 minutes from start to finish to make this shirt. Legitimately! So now you can rest assured I'm going to be making ALL THE TEE SHIRTS! haha!
In the past I've only ever used a die cutting machine to do vinyl decals. This was my first time trying the iron on material and I was shocked at how seamless it was. It's actually an insanely easy material to work with. It's thin and pliable. Pretty hard to mess that up!
After I made the turkey shirt I did a quick gold glitter vinyl cutout of the "gathering" sign and added our little family name to it, in hopes of adding it to our seasonal decor.
These aren't fancy projects by any means. But they're exciting to me because I've realized just how much I can do with this thing. Have any of y'all used a die cutting machine before? Girl, you should have bought the Silhouette Cameo! It's a bit wider (12") & just as fun. I've made Christmas ornaments, shirts, signs, pillowcases, mugs/wine glasses, aprons, & a LOT of other stuff lol! It's so addicting. When you say you used iron on material, do you mean heat transfer vinyl? That's what I use on all my fabric creations!
ReplyDeleteLittle Turkey t-shirt is adorable, Linden will look so cute in it. You could make a Daddy or Big Turkey shirt and a Mama turkey shirt, and one for middle sized turkey Toby. Oh, I crack myself up!
