i didnt sleep at all saturday night. instead i curled my hair and then went to the pond at about 1:30am to see justin. hung out with some people for about an hour and then headed home to finish up my packing. the parents picked me up at 4am and off to the airport we went! my mom, poor girl, cried her little heart out at the security line. she got in line with me and wouldnt leave until i had been cleared and she couldnt go any farther haha needless to say i've talked to her about 9437893479 times a day :P
its been a whirlwind since flying in yesterday morning. teh flight went smoothly [i slept the whole time]. it was nice little 1.5 hour nap but i've had this hellacious cough. got my bags and got the "taxi" aka van.. get this... those jerks charged me $70! NOT doing that when i leave. anyhow, got into my apartment and met my roommate. her name is alyssa and she seems really sweet. she goes to school at Auburn and is from Pittsburgh, shes interning with Michael Kors. how fun! so i get moved in, blah blah blah, met a girl from Facebook that I was talking to, go grocery shopping and get settled in, took a 1 hr power nap and hit the city. i perused most of union square, all around lower 2nd avenue and all that jazz, went by BUST to make sure i can navigate my way there tomorrow [its literally only 3 blocks away!]. went to urban outfitters in the east village [amazing!] i came home rather early [9pm!] and showered, ate and got settled. i was laying in bed by 10 and stayed on the phone with Alex and Casey until midnight. slept until 9am, ate breakfast and set on for the day. i walked through chinatown, the bowery and st marks row. st marks was really neat. there were literally 12 tattoo parlors on the one block of street. but i want friends in the city so we can go back and shop! jenny owen youngs is playing wednesday night at the bowery ballroom so i hope i get a chance to check that out. she's amazing and i missed her on tuesday when she was in nashville. i also did some thrifting in the east village. i picked up the latest copies of BUST, Lula and Nylon, went to a park [read: cemetary ha!] in the east village and read for about an hour and a half. it was so good to relax! and then i came back home to get my internet working. brittany came by [the girl from facebook] and i may go out with her and her roommate later for happy hour, we'll see. i think my roommate might tag along too. it'd be nice ot meet more people in the building. i like this waking up early thing.
i start my internship tomorrow. im so excited because just READING BUST makes me feel empowered. imagine WORKING there! ahhhh! Lula had so many great editorial photographs this issue so i cut out some and im going to hang them up over my bed so it'll feel less... blah. haha
ill get photos up soon! i havent taken in.. i know. i do this all the time. promise photos and then never come forth but whatevz. we'll see! theres five girls in our apartment, its teeeeny tiny, but at least we have 2 bathrooms haha.
here are a couple [crappy iphone] photos from yesterday. i havne't had a chance to take my camera out in the city yet!
my side of the room. its messy and so boring still, but im working on changing that!
I love Lula to death, but I seriously cannot afford the $14.99 price tag. Out of all the magazines I read, Bust is honestly my favorite. Last month's (with Lily Allen on the cover) was one of my favorite issues, and it had a lovely feature on Bat For Lashes. And regarding Jenny Owen Youngs...well, I am very jealous if you get to see her live.
ReplyDeleteLula is definitely my ~gift to myself haha and its so nice to see people who love BUST! hardly anyone reads it back in nashville it seems, it's not insanely popular :)
ReplyDeleteThis is exciting! i'm super jealous, i want to intern for a magazine so badly! soon hopfully!
