Productivity

I am happy to report that it is only noon and I've already accomplished so much today! I've responded to all but ONE email (which I'm about to do!), I've charted out blog layout commissions and picked up working on one's I've already started. I've updated the CLOSET with 16 new items and I've weighed/priced several more orders. I've packed them up and they'll be ready for the post office in a few hours! I also cleaned the kitchen, packed Mr. Flynn an epic lunch, and worked a bit more on the blog design here!

As hesitant as I was in the beginning, I'm really starting to warm up to this ~clean and simple layout! I had no intentions on leaving it like this, but it's received so many wonderful words and I think it's a nice change of pace for me. Things will DEFINITELY still change sooner or later as I want to put up a fun Autumn-friendly layout, but I'm impatiently waiting on the leaves to change! (I KNOW, it's only the last week of August, but I'm SO ready!) I also don't have access to a scanner until Tuesday so the instax will just have to stay the way they are for the time being.

Speaking of productivity and updates, I updated the closet with almost 20 new items today! You should go check them out and buy something! If you buy more than 1 thing, email me at kaelahscloset@gmail.com and I'll combine the shipping (or try to give you a deal)! (I bought a kitchen scale so I can calculate shipping appropriately and not over or under charge!) Apparently I was too generous last week and I ended up losing so much money on international orders! :( Feel free to email me with any questions you might have about them! CLICK HERE to check them out!

Exciting news! There are only TWO sponsorship spots available for the month of September! One large and one small! And remember how I said I was sponsoring Elsie's blog, A Beautiful Mess, this month? Well, that's not all! I'm also sponsoring Elizabeth of Delightfully Tacky and Elycia of Love Elycia! So my sponsors are going to be getting a trifecta of traffic, I hope! It's not too late! Shoot me an email at KaelahBee@gmail.com and we can talk! You can view my traffic HERE and I'm also available to whip you up a sweet button for a discounted price!

Okay! I'm off to be productive again!

Blog Re-design

Hey y'all! Things are going to be a bit crazy, mismatched and hit-or-miss around here over the weekend! I'm going to be redesigning the blog and I haven't even remotely decided how I want to go about it yet! BUT in order to ensure that I do something about it, I tossed my current layout, threw up an impromptu header (totally inspired by Naomi of The Rockstar Diaries and my rekindled love for my Instax), and now I'm going to be spending the entire weekend designing blog layouts for clients and myself! Huzzah! I guess that's one way to do it, right? (Hopefully the real/new layout/header will be up in a few days! I'm shooting for Monday at the latest!)

In the meantime, enjoy 6 of the instax photos from yesterday! (4 in the header and 2 above!) Yay! Oh, and check out Naomi's blog. It's honestly one of my absolute favorites and the fact that she's a bully mama makes me adore her even more! (and yes, I realize by saying 'inspired' I really mean "I totally jacked this idea, and hope she doesn't hate me for it!") The full blog redesign will go live in early December!

xoxo

Happy Birthday Blog!

Huzzah! KaelahBee.com turns One Year Old today! How exciting! I started this blog back in May of 2009 simply to share with family and friends so they could read about my adventures in NYC when I moved there last summer for my first internship at BUST. I took sick while there and the blog fell by the wayside, but I quickly picked it back up once I returned home. I never thought it would come this far. KaelahBee.com has grown exponentially and I couldn't be more excited and grateful! I'm so so excited for all of the things to come! I love being able to share my life in a form that will always be here. My children's children can come read it if they want! I'm also so thankful for each and every one of you who follow along. All 600+ public followers, and everyone on Blog Lovin', Google Reader, or just trusty ol' bookmarks in your browser! You make it all worth it :D I know blogging often seems narcisisstic and self-involved, but I love that I'm able to document my life and actually entertain people at the same time. Such a wonderful feeling! I've met SO many incredible people from this blog and I plan on having them around for a very very long time to come.

To everyone who has followed since day one, thank you! You are INCREDIBLE! And to everyone who we have picked up along the way, or even if you just stumbled across us yesterday, thank YOU and welcome! I'm so excited to have you on board!

I promised an awesome giveaway if I reached 600 followers by the blog's first birthday, and we did just that! How awesome! I will definitely be posting my giveaway soon! But for now, I'm bringing you an awesome little giveaway from one of my sponsors, Mary Sew! Mary Sew is run by Trisha, an absolutely lovely girl that I adore! She's offering up one reader a super cute Eiffel Tower necklace from her ETSY! It is SO darling!

new look around here!

hey y'all! exciting fun times to be had! i'm still a wee bit under the weather, and i skipped out on Print 2 today to be alerted of my awesome "~Sinus Infection"... ladeedahh! but luckily i'm already feeling a bit better so hopefully i'll continue to be on the upswing of things!

i didnt take a lot of time to blog today because between the almost-fever, the feeling like i'm going to die, and the headaches, i've just wanted to rest. but i managed to work on my Print 2 book for 6 hours and take a hot hot bath [Georgia jumped in, too].

i took a little time to work on new blog buttons [3 new designs on the right side!] and a new blog header! please take a minute to change out the blog button if you'd like. i realize they're a little more visually interesting than the horrible hack job i did in flash for the GIF one. i promise to have a new and improve GIF animated banner up shortly!

so yes! please choose one of your liking and let me know how you feel about the new blog banner! i'm going to be doing a whole new CSS layout over the next few weeks and finally phase out what i've got now. i need 2 side panels so it's time to get a crackin!

hope your'e having a great week! we went & stocked up on food as per my mother's request since we're supposed to get "snow and ice" this weekend. bleh, hope i can still make it to work!

xoxoxox

& so it ends... [extremely long, picture heavy, post!]

and i'm back.

last week included: several trips to lowes, making yummy homemade dinners, trying to be productive and tidy, etc etc etc. i cant remember all of the details, but ill write about the ones i do. i really just needed a break from the internet world for a while. between being stressed about homework, work, getting sick, working on & selling mike's house, getting my macbook & belongings back from california, etc... i just wanted to crawl into bed each night with a movie and not even think about what was going on in cyberspace.

Wednesday or Thursday: we went to Lowe's to get organizing things and shelves and such to build up in the bathroom. then we came home and made the yummy wild rice tempeh stirfry, but this time we used PINEAPPLE [!!!] and Sweet & Sour sauce rather than Stir Fry sauce. it was so good. as usual.

Friday: regular ol' work day. i went to art history 2 in the morning, went to the gym with Merissa after, and then headed home to shower, run errands, etc. we had a good little work out and work was so-so. luckily it flew by pretty quickly.

Saturday: woke up super sore, tried to take care of some business, went up to Nashville to mike's house where he and his dad were working on it. Hung around with them for a bit and then left for work because I had to work for Angie. I had to be there at 5 so i sped the hour south and sat at the bar for about 3.5 hours before it started getting busy. my view:

Luckily i made really really good money for the weekend so that was helpful. I came home and it was raining up a storm. thats such an awful, long drive to take at 3am when its storming. we crawled into bed and woke up at a decent time on Sunday to go back to nashville. I was going to spend the day at Panera doing homework, but i felt like he could use my help painting and cleaning. We loaded up Baby G and headed that way. We stopped to get supplies and then we painted/cleaned and ate Blue Coast for dinner. We managed to make a bit of progress so we came back home.

Georgia has never experienced a backseat of a car [since my car is a 2 seater]. she was ecstatic to see that she could watch everything going on around the car.

She literally sat in the bathroom like this alllll night. it was sooooo funny!

Mike's 7th grade photo in the yearbook! eeep! he has no idea i took this picture hahahahahaha

Also, we have really really silly text conversations...

This is why i love him.

Yesterday was an optional-attendance day in Print 2... so most of us didnt go. 2 people did, poor guys! I went to the coffee shop to do some work, then I went to do errands and up to Nashville to keep Mike company. I took my sewing machine and junk so that I could sew up some little creations. I made Kayce an adorable bird for her birthday, and I made an apron.

It's nothing to really write home about, but i had fun making it [and more fun wearing it while we cooked last night!] and i was proud of the way it turned out. I'm thinking about adding suspender style straps with big white buttons to it so they can be put on or taken off. :) Someone suggested making them for my Etsy but I dont know if anyone would buy my silly aprons haha

Last night I noticed a ton of MTV trucks across teh street from my house, so my friend Caitlin came over and she, Mike, My roommate Kayla and I went snoopin... turns out John Mayer is doing CMT Crossroads with Keith Urban today. we snuck around and heard the rehearsal and such, doting around all the tour buses and what not. The plan is to go to the O'More space today and see if we cant get a peek. [I took 19 minutes worth of video of us going around there haha]

Right now i'm having to deal with a less-than-cooperative ex who is doing practically everything he can to make my life miserable. I hate how I still have ties with the past because he has something valuable of mine and pretty much just dangles it over my head just to keep me around in his life. I know Mike can sympathize, even though his situation is much more serious. But still... Its so frustrating to know that you spent 3 years of your life with someone and he/she can't manage to be an adult and help keep the stress level at a minimum. It also amazes me that just 3 months ago I was kissing this person goodbye at the San Francisco airport and the last we saw of each other, we had tears streaming down our faces. And now it's practically World War 3. Although now he "wants to see me" before he leaves town again. UGH.

I feel myself getting really sick. I was up most of the night coughing and sneezing and my throat was quite sore. I hate being congested and sick and I feel a fever coming on. Not the prime time for it because I have so much I need to do.

Okay.. I think i may go meet the girls at Sweet CeCe's for our weekly trip and then I may go to Nashville [yet again] if i dont go to the O'More space for the homework party. I NEED to do homework, but I feel so sick that I dont know if I should be around everyone. bleh!

Happy Tuesday! <3

Blogging: SRS BUZINESS!

So I've managed to come across a lot of really interesting reads about "bulding a better blog" etc etc. and it's really got me thinking... i want to take it seriously and all that jazz, and its another fun challenge I can add to my ever-growing list (being vegan, no alcohol, yadda yadda yadda). I really enjoy ProBlogger's stuff and I even threw down the $19.95 to download the e-book of his... "31 Days to Build a Better Blog" and i'll just say it was WELLLLLLL worth the money! What an investment! I'm so eager to start implementing everything I've been reading about. I'll really start getting into it once I return to my house from visiting my parents for Christmas. I think anyone who takes their blog even halfway seriously should think about downloading this.

I've become an affiliate for ProBlogger so I can offer you the link to download the entire book for only $19.95. I'm not just promoting it because i'm affiliated with it, i'm promoting it because it's proven success. Even if you don't implement everything in the workbook, it gives you a new way of thinking about online business, etc. This is vital if you're selling anything via the world wide interweird. So all you lovely bloggers should check it out :) Let me know if you decide to buy it! I promise I give it rave reviews.

HOLY HUGE UPDATE, BATMAN!

oh goodness gracious, must i always start these updates with the same line? maybe i should... nevertheless, its been a busy week thus far! while i've accomplished far less than i care to admit, i've managed to spend time with some of the most fantastic people in my life. tonight is the first night in WELL over a week that i havent slept beside Mike. true story. i love cuddling up in bed with a movie and just falling asleep, and then seeing his adorable face upon awakening. as silly as it may sound to say this about a boy, i'm truly blessed to be where i am currently and to have someone who cares for me so incredibly much. he's quite amazing and it almost feels weird to be treated this well. however i stand by the fact that i most certainly deserve to be treated like a queen, as do all of you. and i do my absolute best to reciprocate that to him. it's amazing to just lay there with someone you can have SUCH an intelligent conversation with. forgive me for saying this, but hands down, most all of the boys i've dated in the past were just plain STUPID. i felt like i needed to dumb myself down to his level so that he could understand me. but mike has the intellect, and vocabulary to match, that anyone would be proud of. he's always so willing to help any and everywhere he can, and he's simply a breath of fresh air. absolutely brilliant brilliant brilliant! and to make things EVEN better, my mother adores him so (she always has) and my step-father already agrees. a funny sidenote: i (regretfully) broke up with mike for adam 3 years ago and my mother was SO livid. i remember conversations with her on multiple occasions for how selfish and ridiculous my decision was. granted, she knows i'm a grown woman and i can do as i please, however she was NOT a happy camper.

upon finding myself in a very very awful mood thanks to the ex, my mother simply said "don't worry about him. focus your energy on your relationship with mike because kaelah, you've got something good thing. i have a feeling this is exactly what you've been looking for"... maybe thats a lot of pressure to put on such a young relationship, but i have no expectations. i'm completely open to experiencing things as they come.

oh my goodness i'm gushing! i should really stop that :) i apologize for my 9th grade girl moment there. i'll just say that i'm incredibly happy with the turn of events. :)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
on tuesday i ventured up to hendersonville to get tattooed. jason worked on the forearm of my sleeve for about 3 hours. we just filled in the black of the octopus' ink cloud up around my elbow. the tattoo didnt hurt at all, thank goodness. i just read trashy celebrity magazines the whole time, but man oh man, i was in pain for 2 solid days after. i'm still sore now. it was so bad i couldn't use my right arm all day yesterday. i even sported some blue saranwrap at our party last night!
after that i headed over to Mike's place and we watched some tv, ran many errands, started making the vodka gummies for the party the next night. we had an entire bag of gummie worms, then an entire bag of gummie bears. we sliced each in an area or three and poured an entire bottle of vodka over the top. i dont drink vodka, so i didnt partake in the consumption, but i was told they were WAY WAY potent. luckily a girl loved them so much, she asked for a huge ziploc bag of them. i gladly obliged, seeing as i didnt want them at my house afterward haha this photo is directly when i made them, over 2/3 of the vodka was soaked up within 18 hours.
at some point i managed to go to target, probably when i wasn't supposed to... seeing as target is my absolute evil when it comes to my bank account. man oh man, i wonder if its possible to be OCD with Target? like, i feel if i DONT go to target and buy dresses, etc, then i may die. serious. well... sort of. no, totally serious. here's 5 of the 7 dresses I bought.... ha! (the other 2 were just tank dresses, but totally cute tank dresses! and even better, they were on clearance! hey 2 dresses for $28!!!)
while running errands, we passed past the 4 tacky decorated houses that just so happen to be down the street from mike's house. these are the houses i claim tripped acid and then santa threw up on them. HOW ON EARTH IS A FIRE-BREATHING DRAGON RELEVANT TO CHRISTMAS?! oh wait, he's wearing a santa hat. TOTALLY MAKES SENSE, BRO!
the party was wednesday night and it was a lot of fun. i barely drank really, and i'm glad that was the case. i've been toying with the idea of giving it up completely. i'm beginning to think that even though i'm a bartender and i love to go out socially, a cleaner lifestyle is something that i should be focusing on at this point in my life. we'll see. i'm sure i'll continue to go out for beers with my friends randomly, but i even told Mike tonight that i've considered giving it up for a while. hmm.. anywhoo, lots of lovely faces showed up and i was grateful for everyone stopping by. the house was abuzz from about 8:30pm until 1:30am or so. i was so glad to crawl into bed at 2am. so so so glad. here's a picture of Caitlin, Tiffany, and myself. Tiff showed up in teh same exact dress as me, but the pink version! i color coded mine to match my blue saran wrap that you can't even see in teh picture. bummer!
today mike and i went to the mall, had some soup at panera, drove down to my parents' house in hohenwald, hung out, got dinner, and then he drove to his parents' house in lawrenceburg. i've been kicking it, watching shark tv shows, the jersey shore, and a straight edge documentary... livin' the life. baby g is snoring in front of me and i'm about to call it a night.
oh, peep the church marquee coming into my hometown. haha look familiar? it's the same quote that is on my upper arm in my right arm sleeve. but mine is the actual quote "i cannot change the direction of the wind but i can adjust my sails" niiiiceee.
OKAY! DONE NOW! I PROMISE TO NEVER GIVE YOU AN ENTRY THAT LONG EVER AGAIN! gah! mission accomplished! going to bed. goodnight all <3
OH HAIIIIII. this is mike. and this is all i have for you. sorry. been a busy busy bee. more updates soon. only 2 days of classes left for the semester! in the meantime, go check out the blogs of some of my most favoritestttt ladies ever!
<3
hello, my favorites!
its that time of the semester... you know, final projects, cramming for 16 hours for the art history final because that class is really really stupid (& so hard!), trying to get the puppy enough play time so she doesn't feel neglected, visiting family and having family visit, holidays, shopping, volunteering, planning, preparing... yeah... it's finals week. my room looks like a tornado. i kid you not. there are things everywhere. clothes galore, georgia's chew toys, unwrapped christmas presents, empty picture frames, yadda yadda yadda.
i'm going to be fairly distant this week. well, up until next tuesday to be exact. these last 7 school days are sure to test my patience, my passion, and basically my sanity. i'll get through them though.
i'm going to try to update over the next several days, don't worry. but please realize that i'll be a slight hiatus until finals week has passed me by.
you're all fantastic.
remember, if you want to swap christmas cards or anything like that, email me! (kaelahbee at gmail dot com) i love sending out cards and anyone i receive anything from will undoubtedly receive something back! i've been working on handmade ornaments and necklaces! <3
xoxo
happy thanksgiving.
or should i say, happy black friday?! i've been absent for a few days because i'm visiting my parents down in my hometown. i had to work at the bar wednesday night and then yesterday was spent at my step dad's family thing... i didnt even have cell phone service! eeek! i've been taking a much needed break from the internet. the cell signal here isn't even all that great so its been nice to stay off the computer, stay away from homework, not talk to anyone really, and watch tv, hang out with my parents and just kick it. so so so nice!
i didnt go black friday shopping, instead i slept until 9am. it was nice. im watching "say yes to the dress" on tlc now and mom just made breakfast! my favorite :D tonight i have to work and i have to go back to franklin prior so i can take georgia home.
ill attempt to post today but if i dont, rest assured that i'll return tomorrow. im enjoying this break :D
i hope you all had a fantastic holiday and i'm so very thankful for all of you. you're all amazing.
<3
okay.
dear readers,
thank you all for being so patient with me during these last 2 weeks of the fall semester. even now i am sitting at panera (as always) trying to write a 12 page paper on Byzantine icons in the Byzantine culture for Art History. Such a crazy crazy work load (and hard tests!) for a 2 credit hour course. but alas, they must be done so here I am... doing them. well, at least attempting to. even with my crazy school load, i've been making time to spend with my dear friends in person. so many lovely people and so many lovely events and i wouldn't trade them for a significant gain in sleep (since i'm currently lacking).
last night I joined merissa, jt, kayce, and jonathan at kayce & jonathan's house for some drinks and conversation. we headed over to Rumours East for the AIGA Nashville Thirsty Third Thursday event. Not too long after we went to Drifters for some food and walked to 3 Crow Bar for some thursday night trivia and drinks. even though i was beyond exhausted for my 8:30am art history class, i made it. huzzah! only one class to go and luckily thats our final! woohoo!
tonight i have to work as usual, and tomorrow too. hopefully i can find time to do this paper, an integrated proposal, and work on my flash site, oh AND advertising! before the beginning of the week. its so incredibly stressful.
i've been talking to several friends who are in a similar career field as myself and listening/discussing their plans post-graduation, etc. i'm very excited about what will follow graduation for me. it'll be 6 months of a less-than-ideal living situation but its all for the greater purpose and what i'm planning on doing with my life. i've actually written up a post about it already and i'll be releasing it from the queue later today :)
also, a huge huge thank you to the several personal emails i've received this week from some of you! you literally have no idea how exciting it is for me to open my inbox and see an email from a real-life person who reads along to my silly blurbs and ramblings, and they find it in themselves to send a personal message. i was sitting at school yesterday when i received an email that gave me goosebumps. i read it to elle and she said "whoa that gave me the chills"... silly maybe, but little things like that really make my day.
this was amazing. so thank you candice! you're truly a gem.
if anyone ever wants to email me, feel free. you dont have to sing my praises, but if you want to talk about nothing specific, or anything specific, or if you just need a place to vent, my inbox always has room. it might take a day or two to get back to you but i promise if you take the time to write me, i'll take the time to listen/read and write back. :)
you can contact me at:
kaelahbee (at) gmail (dot) com
okay! back to this paper!
eskimo kisses and heart shaped post-it notes,
kaelah
