// In Her Soles with Dolce Vita

- Sponsored by Zappos -

Dolce Vita at Zappos
Zappos invited me to take part in their campaign to help launch their Fall collection from Dolce Vita, and obviously here I am, joining in on the fun. I always say yes to Zappos collabs because I've never ever had a bad shopping experience with them. The 365-day return window is a    heaven send for forgetful and indecisive people like myself. I also appreciate how speedy they    are with their service, with my packages typically being on the front porch in well under 48   hours. Of course I'm also a fan of Dolce Vita, so this partnership is basically a win/win. Now for the actual shoes I chose... I'm a creature of habit. I have 4 pairs of the same jeans, I have my favorite boots in 3 or 4 colorways, and I will probably be buried in my Birks... I just like what I like. So when thinking about Autumn appropriate shoes it's easy to assume I'd bee-line to the booties (To be fair, I did haha! These are my favorite!), but in an effort to ~try something different~ I opted to pick up these ivory leather slides instead. Because hellllooooo Fun KB! Plus there's the whole "no white after Labor Day" rule and well, rules are for chumps.

Dolce Vita at Zappos
The campaign is centered around empowered women taking on the world and ~doin their thing~ which is something I can totally get behind. Dolce Vita and Zappos posed the question "What makes you uniquely you?" Their call to action was to be empowered and strong while carving     out your place in the world. But what does that mean to you? It's such a subjective and relative thing, honestly. In my attempt to be empowered and fearless I'm seeking self-awareness. The     past year and a half has been a journey toward self-discovery, understanding, acceptance, and healing. It's an effort to uncover all of my intricacies and to shine a light on whatever I've kept in the dark, consciously or otherwise. It's closing the door on things that no longer serve a higher purpose in life, and investing whole-heartedly into things that do. Apparently it is also strangely vague references for some reason  ha!

It's really hard not to feel empowered when you realize you're the captain of your own ship. I get   to call all of my own shots, each and every day. Some days that means turning on Boss mode and getting things done behind the scenes. Some days that means unpacking a lot of anxiety and emotional baggage, or sharing my passions with others. Some days it's simply accepting that   today is not my day. It's understanding that the most temporary things in life can have a huge impact on the world, and accepting the impermanence of things we put most of our focus on. Empowerment can even be found where others only see defeat. You might agree or disagree with every bit of that, but that's the beauty of something both subjective and relative. That's what   makes this whole thing so interesting - the uniqueness of experience and interpretation.

Dolce Vita at Zappos
At the end of the day though, nothing makes me feel more empowered and as badass as being a mom to those two up there. I strive to teach them bravery, humility, self-awareness,  and  acceptance of disappointment. I want to celebrate their uniqueness - their  personality  traits, quirks, flaws, and all. And I want them to accept and celebrate those things about themselves,    too. I try to show them unconditional love and how to be mindful, present, and conscious in a   busy, loud, chaotic world. I feel empowered when I see them "get" something - manage an  emotion in a healthy way, understand a concept outside of their typical awareness, whatever. I   feel empowered knowing I've helped my boys navigate the world, even just a  little  bit. I'm partially responsible for helping prepare them for all that life has in store - a tall order! I'm very open with them about my own journey through it all, in hopes that it will show them that it's     okay to mess up and not be perfect. It's okay to love and forgive yourself, and others, and when    it's all  said  and  done,  you  are  more  than  enough.  I  cry  in  front  of  my  kids,  and  quite  often with them. I don't hide "bad" emotions like hurt, anger, sadness because these are all things we each experience and they shouldn't be shunned or glossed over. I think it's so important to empower ourselves and our children to feel everything because it all has its place.

How does any of this have anything to do with my shoes? Eh, I'm not entirely sure (ya know, minus the whole theme of the campaign). But at least they looked cute while it all went down, right? ha! As for this ensemble: This is totally my ideal end-of-Summer outfit. Slides, chambray, gingham, strapless dresses, and hats! This outfit also makes me really want to go to a pumpkin patch. September is like, tomorrow,  right?

What I Wore Canadian Tuxedo - How To Wear Denim on Denim
Oh snap! Look at that! A REAL outfit post! Without any mirrors! Whaaaaaaa. After almost a year of (almost) no outfit posts, I'm back. Thank goodness for friends and their willingness to spare an hour here and there to help me get back at it. I've been rocking a whole lot'a Canadian Tuxedo lately. Of course I'm still wearing the same jeggings and boots so... The good news is I got my hands on a pair of these booties in both black and tan leather. These booties were from LuLu*s (I previously thought they were from ModCloth - but nope!) circa 2012-ish so I was pretty convinced I'd never be able to find them again. But you can get your hands on the brown and black leather ones for under $25 each!  (If your size isn't in stock, try these! They're a few bucks more expensive, but they're readily available in loads of sizes!) Believe me when I say they are the most comfortable pair of boots I've ever owned. I wear them non-stop, obviously, but I love the fit and I really love the wide ankle opening. Even after losing weight my bottom half - thighs + booty especially - is still much curvier than my top, not to mention my legs are super short, so I can only pull off really tight, fitted jeans like these. The wide ankle really balances the skinny peg leg of the pants. You don't want to see how ridiculous I look in a more relaxed jean haha

How about this amazing crochet (?) top?! I scored this at Ross recently and I just love it. I get more compliments on this shirt than any other one I own I'm pretty sure. Y'all, I love Ross. I love never knowing what I'll find. Not unlike anywhere else it can be hit or miss sometimes, but usually when you find a hit, it's a total score. This shirt is no exception. I wish I could link to it online, but I guess that's part of the thrill/charm of shopping at Ross... you gotta go mosey around for yourself! I did have a blog reader tell me she was able to get her hands on one at her local store so if you want to rock this little number, run to your nearest Ross and dig around for it! And let me know if you snag one! // My chambray button-up shirt is the best fit, color, and feel. Seriously, this thing is buttery soft. It's from American Eagle and I love the subtle pearl snaps.

The boys are with Mike this week and I'm trying to make the most of having a quiet house all to myself. I managed to get it super clean and tidy, and I've outlined my To Do List for the week - now I'm diving in. If anyone is interested in coming over to help me tackle my studio room, that'd be rad! ;) I have so many craft supplies and stuff to sort, organize, etc. I'm loving having a dedicated space to work though. Having a table that is okay with getting paint all over it is very liberating. Here's to hoping it helps ignite my motivation and creativity - I'm excited to make things!

// What I've Worn Recently... [ft. 9 Outfits!]

So I've yet to attempt outfit photos with a tripod and remote... Mostly out of laziness I think. But also because I often feel very boring and incredibly repetative. I wear the same style of jeggings and boots over and over and over. Creature of habit, but I don't mind. I totally already own a tripod and remote, but it's hard to juggle two kids with all kinds of time commitments and still find time to go look cute in a field or by a barn (I'm not hating - You betcha I'll be all over that if and when I can ha) But I've been ~documenting my outfits via my bedroom mirror (or any mirror really...) and I figured I might as well drop them here, too. I'm not going to go into extreme detail or anything, but I'll try to find the links to exact products when applicable. (I'll notate similar items with an asterisk *)

I have this dress in at least 9 or 10 colors and patterns. It's one of those dresses that is just so perfect. Unfortunately now they don't fit me the best. Since I really do love the fit and quality of them, I plan on having them altered to fit me now because that'd certainly be cheaper than replacing my entire ~collection haha I just also want all of the other prints and colors, too heh! (Just a heads up, they have sizes XXS - 6X!) These boots are seriously my favorite. You can probably tell because I wear them non-stop. I just love the fit and feel of them, so they're my new "black flats" if you will ;) They were from ModCloth like 4 years ago or more, and I never thought I'd be able to find another pair, but LOOK! Mine are the matte/suede kind and these are shinier faux leather, but it's something! I'll keep hunting for them. As for the cheeseburger case, it was a lucky $2 clearance score.

I picked up this jacket at the St. Louis Galleria when I was visiting Patrick over the new year. It was one of the first things I spotted when I walked into the store and I'm so glad I decided to buy it. I'm so so into the color and it's pretty darn warm, too. Not bad for $40! Also, these jeggings! I own these in multiple sizes because I just keep buying the exact same pair. They're that comfortable. I'm going to link to them in pretty much every outfit post below so... I really like them haha

I picked up this sweater on a random shopping trip with Whitney one day. Originally I bought it and paired it with a cream colored tulle skirt from the same collection, but I love how casual-but-cute it looks with jeans. I wore this for the 5 hour drive up to Patrick's and it's definitely road trip approved. This sweater comes in 3 different colors and I seriously want them all now.

The black top isn't normally something I go for (well, I guess that's a given considering I didn't wear pants before now haha) But it's definitely in steady rotation in my closet. It looks cute by itself and covered up. It's easy to dress up or down, so you can't really go wrong. The jacket though! I saw it on a random end cap at TJ Maxx one day and I scooped it up. I was wearing a sweater that day so when I tried it on it felt like it fit great. I do wish I had been about to get a size smaller but it was literally the only one I saw in the store so I'm still glad I bought it. I love the gold details.

olive green top (only $12!) // jeggings // boots

This was my Christmas Day outfit, and if you stick around here long enough you'll see this very same outfit in a variety of colors. I bought this shirt in a multitude of colors because they were on super sale, but the black and olive are the two that make it out of the closet the most. I can't say a single bad thing about this top. A++++

This is a super casual stuck-at-home outfit and what I default to most of the time. I have quite the collection of t-shirts now and that feels so funny/strange to say.

You can totally pair black and brown together, right? Of course you can so naturally I did ha! I haven't worn these black jeans since snapping this photo, but I need to find some cute things to pair with them. Any suggestions?

I snagged this tee on clearance for $5. I was totally stoked on that. I had to poll Snapchat to ask if I was too old to wear a graphic tee like this haha Luckily everyone responded with an enthusiastic no :P I snapped the photo in the fitting room obviously.

This is what I was actually wearing on the day I snagged the tee up above (and the sage top, too!) It's nothing spectacular but I was totally feeling my hair that day haha! Dear hair, please do this again! Love, KB.

So there you have it... what I've been wearing lately. Maybe once the weather breaks (hurry up, Spring!) I'll feel more into the idea of traipsing around with a tripod in tow. Until then this will just have to do ;P

Which one is your favorite?

Spring Stitch Fix

Spring Stitch Fix
This is currently totally my favorite outfit. The polka dot, the chambray, the pattern mixing. These are things that I love! I scored this dress recently in a Stitch Fix haul, and it's the perfect length, weight, and shape. If you are a Stitch Fix subscriber, I highly recommend requesting this one! The chambray shirt is my tried and true Old Navy number. This is the one I bought while I was pregnant with Linden, and I'm still wearing it a couple times a week usually. I'm going to need to replace it soon (luckily it's on sale! haha) My wedges are my old fave MIA Jukebox wedges. I've had these (and the other 2 colorways) for years and they're still hanging in there! It's surprising to me how long some of these clothing items have lasted. Especially considering they're technically fast fashion items. I'm going to be so heartbroken when these finally bite the dust. I've lost my brown pair and it's driving me mad! My purse was an impulse buy back in November or December. I kept it put up with the receipt tucked inside because I was totally convinced I was going to return it. Then this outfit happened and now I just can't let it go. The stripes and florals are so fun together, but paired with a polka dot dress is just *heart eyes* And it's so big, too! I also topped the whole thing off with my DIY hairpiece that I wore in our wedding! I love when I can sneak that into outfits.

Baseball season is in full swing now, and boy oh boy do I miss having regular bedtimes for the boys! Toby had his first game of the year on Monday and despite their team losing, he did such a great job. So much hustle! This is his fourth year playing (!!!) but it's really kind of the first year that I've seen him get super into it. I'm sure it just has to do with his maturity level and attention span, but it's exciting to see him try harder. I can't believe he's 7, y'all. Sometimes I'll run across a photo of when he had just turned 3 and came to live with us, and I'll just stare at that photo and wonder "Where did you go?!?!" I almost find it hard to remember him being that small, even with all of the photos. We're both counting down the days until Summer break, though. I can't wait to have him home all Summer and come up with a massive bucket list to check off!

I know I mentioned snapchat the other day, but really y'all, I'm hooked now. I never really "got" snapchat, and I'm not even sure if I do now... but I have fun so whatever! I'm 'kaelahbee' on there, like everywhere else. I've been thinking up some silly but fun things to share on there, soooooooo you know. Anyway, Happy Wednesday! I hope it's a great one!

Happy Monday, y'all! I've been having a hard time even keeping track of what day it is haha  Mike's work schedule has been so crazy and hectic, and trying to juggle Toby's baseball season with Linden being rowdy as can be... it's hard. If we're all dressed for the day, it's a success to me. Just when I think things are starting to slow down a bit, I'm taken for another crazy ride, so at this point I'm just going to try and enjoy the view. Know what I mean? I've been trying to make the most of my time lately, and I've been so stoked at how productive I've been! The sad reality is that even though I'm totally kicking ass daily, I'm still left with a mountain of "to dos" at the end of the day. I'm starting to think I'm getting too old to take on as much as I normally have. But 28 is too young to start slowing down, right? See, this is where my brain is at currently. All over the place.

So how about this outfit, eh? (I've been watching a lot of "Highway Through Hell" so I keep catching myself saying "eh?" because their Canadian accents are so awesome) This dress is from Dolly and Dotty and it reminds me so much of those blue patterned china dishes. Isn't that pattern called "Willow" or am I making that up? Anyway, I love this dress. It's a full size or more too big, so it's really baggy and loose in the waist (I didn't know what size to get), but I love it so much and the fabric feels so light and airy. I'm thinking about just taking it in to be altered because it's a definite keeper! For the meantime I just tied up this long yellow draped cardigan that I scored from Stitch Fix right before Linden was born. It's super thin so it's great for Spring and Summer. I had never tied it up before, but I really needed something to take in the dress and this looked way better than a belt haha! And while it's probably totally dumb, I have a theory about yellow cardigans. For some reason, if I'm feeling kind of nervous or anxious about something, or I just need a boost of confidence, I reach for a yellow cardigan. It wasn't until I finished all of my doula trainings that I realized I wore a yellow cardigan to every. single. one. haha! And of course I paired everything with my Steve Madden sandals and Rebecca Minkoff bag. Oh! These sunglasses! Are these not totally rad?

Today I'm putting my mile-long to do list on the back burner and heading to an agency meeting and belly binding workshop in Nashville. I always look forward to our agency meetings because I swear I work with the most fabulous gals, and it's more like hanging out than it is working. Of course I have to hightail it back to town as quickly as I can in order to make it to Toby's first baseball game of the season! Now that's he's in an older division (7-8 league) his games aren't until 7pm, and that's Linden's bedtime... To say that things get crazy on baseball nights is an understatement. We're doing good if the kids are tucked in by 9:30... heaven help me!

Anyway, I'm kind of sort of getting into Snapchat lately. I knoooooooooow. Just another thing for me to annoy everyone on ha! but if you want to add me, go for it! I'm 'kaelahbee' as always!

// Spring Picnic

This dress just screams "Picnic!" I mean, how could it not? I'm 110% obsessed with red and white gingham. If I could make my wardrobe dreams come true, I'd totally have a little ant purse to go along with this. Totally hokey, I know. But c'mon, awesome right? Actually when I first put this outfit on, I walked out into the living room to ask Mike if I looked like a watermelon. He said "Well, watermelons aren't gingham, so no" ha. Well, thanks, I think? This dress is from Dolly & Dotty (a UK brand) and I've had it for a couple of months now. Since I took a little blogging break it's taken me this long to share it, but I've been wearing it in regular rotation since the day I received it in the mail. It's such a surprisingly heavy dress - It has a full lining and everything. It also comes with a fabric and grommet belt, though mine usually bunches up so I only wear it on occasion. I paired it with a kelly green cardigan because for some reason kelly green screams summer to me (I know, it's literally only the beginning of Spring, but I'm just saying haha) And of course my lovely Steve Madden sandals I told y'all about in yesterday's giveaway post. I can't get enough of these shoes, y'all! Swing by the Dolly and Dotty site and take a peek at how many amazing dresses they have (and how affordable they are!) I can't even handle how massive my wishlist is from there haha

In other news, Mike and I bought a new car this week! We brought home a 2015 Nissan Pathfinder! Car shopping has been stressing us out for a couple of months now. It has been especially exhausting ever since we got really serious about buying a car a few weeks ago. Trying to meet all of our needs and keep everyone happy is a bit of a tall order. Overall I couldn't be happier with our purchase. My Xterra has treated us so well for the past 5 years. I was happy to add another Nissan to our fleet. And it has 3 rows... so you know... babies! (HA! Mike would kill me if he saw that right now :P)

Now it's time to get down to business! Today is all about sign painting! (By the way, all #kbsigns are currently 25% off! Pop me an email if you'd like to grab your own!)

// Cranberry + Mint

Mint and Cranberry - 6pm.com - KaelahBee.com
Mint isn't necessarily the first color that comes to mind when I think about holiday attire. Then again neither is floral and I regularly wear that out of season. But there was just something about this dress paired with this deep, cranberry cardigan. Y'all I am straight up in love with the color of this cardigan. It's the perfect "berry" color for the winter months. I also like the contrast it gives to my hair. I tried to make it more "holiday party appropriate" with the black accessories. Everything I'm wearing, save for the dress, is from 6pm.com. (Did you know 6pm is owned by Zappos? But products on 6pm are discounted up to 75% off their retail prices. BOOM!) I had never heard of the brand "rsvp" before, but they make an incredibly comfortable and lightweight cardigan. My black zipper clutch is a Gabriella Rocha piece, and I love how big it is without being bulky. It has a little wristlet strap, too, which is ultra convenient. My flats are the Ultragirl Sweet III by Melissa shoes. I love the fun bow detailing. I had no idea they would be kind of a silicone-ish material, but that makes them pretty comfortable. It almost feels like walking on air. I topped it all off with a dainty little blush pink pendant necklace from Kate Spade. I feel like mint and pale pink just always need to be together haha. As for my sunglasses, Mike hates them! He thinks they're absolutely ridiculous, and I guess they kind of are. I love the shape and the style of them. They're the "Super Duper Strength" glasses by Karen Walker and I'm in love with the gold mirrored lenses. They look kind of wild, but they're provide the perfect amount of protection from the bright sun. Last but not least is this perfect mint dress! I took advantage of a big sale over at LindyBop just before Thanksgiving and I racked up with like 6 dresses! They finally made their way over the Atlantic and into my mailbox. Now I cant stop wearing them! The fit is so perfect, and I love the length. Not to mention they have pockets! You'll likely be seeing a dozen variations of this very dress on the blog soon. I know you're so excited.

Since I've been eyeball deep in the deals over on 6pm.com, I thought I'd share a little bit of the fun with y'all! They have a pretty awesome holiday gift guide (gifts for him or her, all $100 or less!) so if you're looking for the perfect present to give someone (or ask Santa for yourself!), there you go. And bonus points for the extended return window for holiday orders. Orders placed between now and December 31st can be returned up until February 28th. If you order between December 18th and 22nd you'll get free shipping, and you'll get upgraded to free 2-day shipping if you spend $75 or more! (That means you'll get it by Christmas!) They're currently doing the 8 Days of Giving (through the 13th) - it's a new sale each and every day. Then on the 14th they're starting their 12 Days of Xmas - one gift on major sale each day.  Just curious, how terrible would it be if I ordered a handful of things and wrapped them for myself under the Christmas tree?! Haha I'm actually pretty sure Mike would greatly prefer that. Can't make it easy for him, though!

How freaking awesome is my iPhone case?!?! I finally replaced my broken and sad iPhone 6 (that Linden absolutely destroyed!) I was using an old iPhone 5 for a couple of months and I finally cashed in my insurance to get a new one. They sent me an iPhone 6s at no extra charge! It's so nice having a fully functioning phone! Even before Linden demolished my 6 I couldn't use the front facing camera (or the regular camera half of the time!). Since I have vowed to keep my new phone out of Linden's destructive little hands, I figured I might as well spring for a super quality case. This Moschino case from Shopbop is awesome! Not only is it super freaking cute, but it's also SO durable! It's thick and it protects the front glass, too. The curved shape of the spray paint can makes it so comfortable to hold. I get so many comments about this case when I'm out and about. It's definitely a conversation starter. I've got my eye on a bevy of novelty iPhone cases now, but I'm not sure I could part with this one!

I'm starting to find more ways to do my hair now that I don't have the added length and volume of my extensions, but I'm just not loving anything quite yet. It has been a total learning curve, y'all. My hair feels so thin and limp now, but I'm trying my best to give it some va va voom! I'm probably going to break down and get new extensions dyed to match because I miss having longer hair already. It's nice to have the option, you know? Anyway, while I didn't pay much mind to color coordination with my hair and outfit on our Lucky Ladd outing, I ended up loving how my hair, dress, and sling all coordinated in a fun, bright way. This outfit is my tried and true favorite for Autumn. I've worn it half a dozen times already, and it's typically my "go to" when I need something quick and easy. No fuss! This honey colored Eshakti dress is one of my favorites, too. I have it in cobalt blue as well, but I love the way the yellow fits so seamlessly into the season. When I was pregnant with Linden I started wearing this chambray shirt tied up like this and now I just can't stop. It makes the outfit feel a little more "down home" haha! My LuLu*s boots are in heavy rotation right now. But the true star of the show: this Vienna Springs silk ring sling (the color is called Barcelona!). Ah! I just love that thing! Linden is pretty content being worn on my back now, so this ring sling is always in our diaper bag. The double layer silk really helps make L feel weightless (and look at that chunk... he most definitely isn't!) So much love for this thing, seriously!

I bet I won't share another outfit post for like three weeks because I'll just be busy wearing this over and over and over again. Creature of habit, y'all! Do what works, right? haha Hope you're having a great week so far, friends!
