// Seeing Stars + Stripes Giveaway (with The Hunt!)

I am so excited about this giveaway, y'all! I've teamed up with The Hunt yet again to bring you a super fun and fabulous contest. Remember the Unique + Quirky Gifts giveaway we did last time?! This one is all about the stars + the stripes! Perfect timing since Independence Day is this week, right? I'm helping The Hunt kick off their week of patriotism and one lucky winner is going to get this whole kit 'n kaboodle! (!!!) Seriously! I want to win so bad haha!

I chose an array of items, all somehow related to red, white, and blue. This dress is one of my absolute favorites, and it comes in such a wide variety of sizes! I knew that if I chose an article of clothing then I wanted it to be available to as many of y'all as possible, so hopefully you love it! I also went with some super comfortable Toms (plus there's the whole charitable aspect, too!) and a backpack that's perfect for Summer adventures, picnics, or festivals! Then top it off with a dainty star necklace (handmade!) and some button earrings (I'd totally wear a blue one with a red one!) You'd have to be a pretty brave soul to wear all of this at once, but I'm such a huge fan of each individual item. Now here comes the fun part...

// Style File: 90's Child

I was born in Spring 1988 so despite "growing up" in the 90's, I feel like I missed out the "cool" aspect of it because I wasn't quite a teenager. The 90's are definitely one of my favorite decades in terms of style, music, and overall aesthetic. That might sound like total crap since I don't really act/dress that way, but there's the iconic look of the grungy 90's that I adore.

When I saw this dress at ModCloth I instantly dreamt up an outfit around it and this is the result. Now I'm not going to pretend to know all there is to know about the 90's in any way, but this is what my brain thinks of when I remember idolizing people who were 8-10 years older than me at the time. It could be based solely on a stereotype, but even if that's the case, I still really dig the look. And shoutout to Tragic Kingdom! That was the first album I ever bought! And it's still one of my absolute favorites!

What about you? Were you into the 90's at all?
What was/is your favorite aspect?

// Turquoise Sunset - Maternity Style - 34 Weeks

Greetings from the beach (and 35 weeks!) I wasn't planning on writing anything while we were away on vacation, but Mike snapped some quick outfit photos of me the other day at our camp and I figured I might as well share them before I run out of "maternity" time haha One of my favorite things about where we stay when we come to Florida is just how insanely gorgeous it is. Staying in a condo or rental house definitely has it's perks, sure, but after staying here a couple of times in the RV, I honestly wouldn't want to vacation any other way. We're currently half-way through our trip and we've had a blast so far. The weather has been wonderful (albeit humid!) and the adventures have been plentiful. We're making sure to take time to relax, too though. Mid-day naps and movies in the RV have been staples. I've undoubtedly been over-gramming our vacation (sorry!) but I promise to try and save some photos so my recaps aren't just Instagram rehashes!
So far I've played it pretty safe on the pregnant-but-on-vacation front. I started feeling pretty yucky on our first full day at the beach but I think I just got a bit overheated. Luckily a quick cool down in the car did wonders. Here's to hoping the rest of the trip is just as successful. We're trying to take advantage of the gorgeous scenery at our camp to snap a few more maternity photos (with Mike and Toby in them, too - ha, wish us luck!) My parents really wanted some nice photos of them taken so we're hoping that when we snap theirs they'll be able to use our cameras and capture a few of us as a family of three. Mike took a few more of me on a walk through the park the other day but I'd love to have some of us as a group. (I'll try to be mindful of photo overload when they finally get developed and shared on the blog... but I can't make any promises! haha)
This specific outfit is one of my favorites to wear as of late. It's another Mossimo dress from Target (same as here, just a different pattern) and these things are amazing. Lightweight and breezy, but still comfortable and incredibly stretchy! I love that I don't have to resort to only maternity options, even at 35 weeks pregnant. Just for reference, mine are size large and they still have plenty of room for this house I'm carrying on my stomach haha If you're looking for super-stretchy, non-maternity options for maxi dresses, run to Target as fast as you can and snatch them up! (I type this as I wear the third version of this dress, too) I wore it out to dinner the other night and then again the next day when we played around at the Naval Air Museum in Pensacola. And then again yesterday when we went kayaking... haha They're the perfect all-around cotton dresses. And at under $30 a pop, they're not a bad buy! (Though they're currently buy one, get one 50% off, so that's even better!) I feel like I've worked the cost-per-wear down on these things already. Is that enough gushing about a silly dress? Yes? Okay.

// Instagram Favorites: June

Confession time: I am a sucker for a well-styled Instagram photo. Give me white space, natural light, and things positioned "just so" and I'll like it. Maybe that makes me super cliche and stereotypical, but I don't mind. I just really appreciate a good aesthetic. Don't get me wrong, I love the "real life" aspect of Instagram as much as the next person, but lately I've been gravitating more toward purposefully styled accounts to follow, while keeping more of my "real life" viewing on Facebook. I think there's been a huge shift in social media over the past couple of years, and that has trickled down into the blog world as well. Instead of devoting time to reading and following blogs, we've become so used to "liking" and instantly commenting on photos shared on Instagram. At first it really bummed me out, but now I kind of like the change. It's allowed me to open myself up on my blog again and just write whatever I want. Of course it has also encouraged me to do ridiculous things like "styling" my bowl of Froot Loops (yep!), but whatever. It's a give and take kind of relationship, okay?

Since I've found so many wonderful new IG accounts to follow, I thought I'd do a monthly roundup of my 5 favorites for that month. That way you can get a little glimpse at the photos these users share, the kind of aesthetic I'm loving at the moment, and new, inspiring accounts to follow! Here is my first edition... my five June favorites!

I love the soft, airy feel of Cassidy's feed. It's a mix of lifestyle, fashion, and family... all with the most gorgeous color palette. It's the "overall" look and feel of her Instagram account that drove me to pick her this month. Everything looks so beautiful together!

Heather's feed is exactly what I imagine Portland, Oregon to be like. Her photos are gorgeous, but they have this fog and grain to them that my other choices lack this month. I feel like I'm hiking on a misty mountain while wearing a sage green bomber jacket and knit beanie when I look at her feed. And that's a compliment, I promise!

Give me lots of white light and bright colors, please! Ashley's feed has all sorts of inspiring images ranging from her handwriting-inspired mugs to styled shots of her meals and snacks. I'm glad I'm not the only one who styles my cereal!

I don't read The Everygirl blog very much since I don't feel like "one of the everygirls" ya know? But I can't help but adore their Instagram feed. Spoiler alert: there is absolutely no shortage of peonies in their feed... You know, in case that makes or breaks it for ya!

Lily's feed is one of my most recent follows and I am in love with her use of color. She manages to make even an awkwardly styled photo look beautiful (I'm looking at you, cake photo in the lower left corner! haha) I've definitely noticed that color is the biggest factor in the feeds I've gravitated toward recently, and it's so inspiring!

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I'm all for real life snapshots and photos on Instagram. My feed is full of them. But these 5 feeds above make me want to look at the world a little bit differently. Maybe try to find the beauty in the little things... a new composition or angle. It's amazing how a tiny little phone can hold the key to so many inspiring possibilities. I'm going to be more mindful of what I snap and share.

// Summer is a Breeze - Win a 4Moms Breeze Playard!

When you have a rambunctious five year old, you're outside a lot. Especially when it's summertime. Toby is always getting into something, and as much as I'd love to chase him around the yard, sometimes I just have to lay low and supervise (but still cash in on that gorgeous sunshine!) Mike and I have worked tirelessly on our back deck over the past year, trying to turn it into a nice, tranquil place to entertain and relax. We still have a lot of work to do, but overall we love the feeling that the space provides. I can lounge on the hammock while Toby plays in the yard, or I can tend to our tiny container garden while we snack on lunch at the picnic table. And entertaining at night is a dream thanks to all of the twinklelights we've suspended from the big oak tree that towers over the area. Since Baby Flynn is set to make his arrival smack dab in the middle of Summer, I know I'll need a way to juggle both baby duty and outdoor activities. Enter our 4moms Breeze playard...

To be totally honest, I'm not very well versed in the world of playards... Toby had one when he'd visit us as a baby, but I never really fiddled with it. Instead I let Mike have the annoying task of setting it up and taking it down. I remember him voicing his frustrations on many occasions though. He wasn't looking forward to going through all of that again, so when we our Breeze was delivered he was skeptical. I pestered him to set it up so we could see what it was all about, and the look on his face when he pushed the little center button down was priceless! Y'all, that thing just slid right open... right then and there, with one push of a button. If you can imagine someone doing the "AWHHHHH!" sound, praising the heavens, that's what he looked like. All he said was "That was awesome." After he popped that baby out, we tossed in the mattress and tried on the bassinet attachment (I love that is spans the full width of the playard instead of being just a tiny little thing!) He was in love. I mean, I loved the way it set up and looked, but Mike was basically flabbergasted that it was so simple. Packing it up was jsut as easy... just a simple tug of a tab and boom! Done! He then went on to tell me how Toby's old playard set up and that's when I knew he was a Breeze believer haha! I'm not sure I've ever seen him get so excited over a piece of baby gear before!

The 4 photo series up top shows how simple it is to set up. It just pops out like a little spider (Toby calls it the "Spider Yard") and voila! Easy peasy. I can't vouch for how amazing it is for a little one quite yet, but based on this baby's actions the past few days, it's looking like it won't be much longer now! Since it's so hot and humid in Tennessee, I don't want to bother fiddling with things that take forever to set up and move. I think the Breeze will be a perfect addition to our outdoor entertaining this season.

Toby is over the moon about his baby brother coming soon. Every single time I have a doctor's appointment he asks "Is __(baby's name)__ coming out of you today?" haha! In these particular photos he was sitting on the deck telling us about how he planned on teaching his little brother what tools were what and how they were used. Things like that absolutely make my heart swell and I can't wait to be the mom of two boys... and yes, those are totally words I never thought I'd say! ha!

And what makes me even more excited to be partnering up with 4moms is the fact that I now get to give one of you your very own Breeze playard! This giveaway is open to both US and Canadian residents, and one very lucky winner will be chosen at random later this week! Now get to entering because if this thing is half as amazing as it seems, you're going to want one of your own! Good luck, friends! xo (You can also follow along with the rest of the 4moms Breeze Blog Tour and enter to win a Breeze every. single. day!)

// #FlynnFestFL

Yesterday we headed down to Perdido Key, Florida and today we're trying to settle in. I look forward to our family vacations to Florida every year, and this year I'm especially excited because I know I need to really live it up and enjoy the experience before welcoming this baby along to any future trips! I thought I'd share a few of my favorite phone snaps from last year's trip in order to get me jived. We headed down in the RV again, for 9 days of sun and sand! We're staying in the very same place (even the same camping spot) we were at last year and I love it here. So serene and gorgeous!

Some of these photos really show me just how much Toby has grown over the past year. I'm excited to have a series of them year after year for us to look back on. We used the hashtag #flynnfestfl last year so I could keep up with the photos, and I'm thinking I'll continue the tradition this year so they're all neatly stored in one place.

After being put in the hospital abruptly on Wednesday (I was dehydrated and the baby had a crazy fast heartbeat), I've been way more mindful about how much water I consume and how much sun I get. Sounds like Florida probably isn't the best place for an 8.5 month pregnant lady, right? (Don't worry, I have my doctor's blessing!) haha

I'll be playing it safe and trying to stay out of the sun at peak hours, so if you have any suggestions on fun things to do or places to go between Pensacola, FL and Gulf Shores, AL, I'm all ears!
I plan on taking advantage of the sunshine when I can, but also trying to explore a bit so I can keep my legs moving.

I've packed my hospital bag with me just in case and I'm ready to set sail! I'll be sure to share loads of photos on Instagram so follow along if you'd like! I have posts scheduled for all next week so you won't even really know I'm gone! Hope y'all have a great weekend (and upcoming week) I'll see you on the other side! xo

// Maternity Photos - v.1 - Him and Honey

Mike snapped some film maternity photos of me a couple of weeks ago after we wrapped up a client shoot. They actually almost didn't happen at all because goodness gracious you would not believe the amount of heat and humidity we were battling that day! My friend Sara did my makeup before we photographed her family and seriously, not even 5 minutes into the shoot I was drenched in sweat. It was not a good look! haha Luckily she's quite the pro and she worked her magic with my makeup because it surprisingly didn't sweat off! Granted every bit of curl fell out of my hair and I was a walking frizz ball, but I'm so in love with the pictures regardless.

I know it's a bit self-indulgent to post so many photos of myself (I should edit tighter!), but every time I look at these photos I get butterflies. Even with the big ol' belly and the sweat that just won't stop, I am cherishing each and every moment of this pregnancy. I'm turning into one of those people... You know, the ones who wax poetic about everything. I can't help it.

Someone on Instagram commented that I looked like "Mother Nature" in these photos, and ever since then I've just been so in love with that thought. A huge part of me is so sad that this experience is almost over, but I know what's waiting on the other side is even better... I'll be sharing the second round of photos soon! xo

You can see more of our film photography at Him + Honey. If you're interested in booking your own shoot, shoot us a message via our contact page! -- A huge thank you to my amazing husband for making me feel like a million bucks, even when dripping in sweat.
