// Vacation Snapshots (Perdido Key, Florida)

(This is my final post about vacation, Cross my heart!) I swear every time we go to the beach it gets harder and harder to leave. By now we're regulars at Big Lagoon State Park (where we "camp" in the RV every summer) and we always get the same lot # (directly across from the playground #priorities!) I've gotten so used to traipsing down the boardwalk, looking for the alligator and counting the turtles, and watching the sun set from the observation tower. In a way it feels like a home away from home.

And Johnson Beach is by far the best beach ever. Always so clean and never too crowded (even on a Saturday!) If you make your way to Perdido Key, pay the $15 it costs to get a week-long pass to Gulf Islands National Seashore (Johnson Beach). You absolutely will not regret it!

Is it totally crazy to want to rent out my house so we can live at the beach? Ehhhhh? haha!

// Disney World Recap

Disney was MAGICAL! So incredibly magical! We went to Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom during our stay, and we had a blast! I had so much anxiety leading up to the trip because I just knew Linden would be a handful. But much to my surprise, he was an absolute angel! He rode in his carseat in the RV the entire way down without a problem, was quick to jump in his carseat while we went to and from places, and even held my hand and listened like a champ in the parks. Seriously, he rocked my world. It was so incredible to make those memories!

Linden fell asleep on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride - it was adorable. It's a Small World After All is totally my favorite "kid-friendly" ride. and Toby LOVED the rollercoasters! It was such an awesome experience getting to ride rollercoasters with him. He was never afraid at all, and he was totally balls to the wall. I think that's something we'll be able to do together as he gets older, too.

We stayed in the Fort Wilderness Campground and it was awesome! So pretty and well maintained, and so convenient on the inside, too. We went to a campfire and an outdoor movie while we were there, and their pools have waterslides. We had such a great time. Looking at all of these pictures seriously makes me want to tear up.

We're already planning on going back in a few years when Linden is probably 5 or so! That way he can ride some of the bigger rides that he couldn't this time around. And I'm constantly dreaming about Dole Whip, so.

PS; Happy freakin' August! WHOA! Toby starts 2nd grade today!

// Linden Turned TWO (!!) in Florida

And just like that I have a TWO YEAR OLD! Two! I feel like that spunky little mullet-headed boy was just born yesterday. We celebrated with a whole lot of sand and salt water, then feasted on donuts from City Donut in Orange Beach. It was low key and perfect! I swear that baby bear of mine has grown so much in the past few months! He's officially off of the paci (!!!), he can count to 10 on his own, and every day he surprises me with more complex sentences or words. (Yesterday he said "I promise" when I asked him if that was a deal! Haha) His tantrums are EPIC, but luckily few and far between. His manners are incredibly adorable and his face brings me SO much joy.

Currently he stands 36 inches tall and he weighs 32 pounds! He's a chunky little bear.

PS; Did you like the little diaper I painted on Linden in one of the above photos? Ha! He was in his birthday suit, naturally (look how empty the beach was!), but we're trying to keep it PG over here!

// Mexico - v.1 (Snapshots)

Playa del Carmen, Mexico
Playa del Carmen, Mexico
Mike and I took an impromptu trip to Mexico back in May. And by impromptu I mean we bought our tickets on Sunday and left out Monday night. It was a bit of a whirlwind, but we had wanted to go for a bit... we just never got around to doing it. Then we did. We spent 9 days in Mexico and it was the most amazing trip, honestly. We really needed that vacation. This past year has been exceptionally hard with a new baby, new schedule, new school and career goals, etc. I certainly haven't made that a secret. Mike and I needed to just be together and reconnect. We basically relived our honeymoon and I still think about it every single day. I have no idea why it's taken me so long to get it up on the blog, but finally here are some photos! I definitely plan on sharing our favorite spots, places to eat, things to do, etc. soon! If you have any specific questions, don't hesitate to ask!

We stayed in Playa del Carmen (between Cancun and Tulum, the two cities we spent our honeymoon in) and it was a great "close to everything" place. Plenty to do, loads of transportation options, and still affordable. Our luggage stayed in Nashville a while longer so the first two days we had to wear what we wore down, but it wasn't too bad. We rented a place via AirBnB again and we utilized the colectivos (basically like a taxi van, but way cheap!) and we ate more Mexican food than I can describe. It was awesome. We snorkeled with sea turtles, sting rays, and all kinds of fish. We saw Cirque du Soleil (Joya) together. We drank a whole lot, made some new British friends, got sunburned beyond belief, and fell in love all over again. I can't tell you how tempted I am to pack up my entire family and just move down there. I feel like Mexico will always have a special place in our hearts. I can't wait to take both boys one day (soon, I hope!). I want to relive this trip over and over. It was basically a dream come true.

The next part of our trip recap will include a list of our favorite sites and bites. Stay tuned!

PS; If you want $25 toward your first AirBnB rental, here you go! It's our favorite way to travel.

// #FlynnFestFL - Perdido Key Adventures

We had an absolute blast in Florida this year. Despite being 8.5 months pregnant and sweating like a crazy lady, it was a much needed reprieve from the daily grind. I think it was also a really great way to end our lives as a family of three. We spent 9 days with my parents in Perdido Key, just like last year. We took the RV down, camped at Big Lagoon State Park (we love it there!) and managed to enjoy a wide variety of activities during our stay. This post is going to be crazy picture heavy (sorry!) so please forgive me. I made sure to truncate the post so if you're interested in seeing the rest of the photos and reading about where we went/what we did while we were there, feel free to click through below! (Spoiler alert: They're all iPhone photos... because who wants to carry around a clunky camera on vacation?!)

// #FlynnFestFL

Yesterday we headed down to Perdido Key, Florida and today we're trying to settle in. I look forward to our family vacations to Florida every year, and this year I'm especially excited because I know I need to really live it up and enjoy the experience before welcoming this baby along to any future trips! I thought I'd share a few of my favorite phone snaps from last year's trip in order to get me jived. We headed down in the RV again, for 9 days of sun and sand! We're staying in the very same place (even the same camping spot) we were at last year and I love it here. So serene and gorgeous!

Some of these photos really show me just how much Toby has grown over the past year. I'm excited to have a series of them year after year for us to look back on. We used the hashtag #flynnfestfl last year so I could keep up with the photos, and I'm thinking I'll continue the tradition this year so they're all neatly stored in one place.

After being put in the hospital abruptly on Wednesday (I was dehydrated and the baby had a crazy fast heartbeat), I've been way more mindful about how much water I consume and how much sun I get. Sounds like Florida probably isn't the best place for an 8.5 month pregnant lady, right? (Don't worry, I have my doctor's blessing!) haha

I'll be playing it safe and trying to stay out of the sun at peak hours, so if you have any suggestions on fun things to do or places to go between Pensacola, FL and Gulf Shores, AL, I'm all ears!
I plan on taking advantage of the sunshine when I can, but also trying to explore a bit so I can keep my legs moving.

I've packed my hospital bag with me just in case and I'm ready to set sail! I'll be sure to share loads of photos on Instagram so follow along if you'd like! I have posts scheduled for all next week so you won't even really know I'm gone! Hope y'all have a great weekend (and upcoming week) I'll see you on the other side! xo

One of the perks of having such a cute kid is that we get to photograph him everywhere we go. We went a little overboard in Florida, but this is the product of only two rolls of film! You can tell he was a little exhausted in many of them. Sometimes he just like to give some lip haha! Catch him any other day and he's all "Can you guys take some pictures of me now?" - no joke. I probably could (and should!) have narrowed them down more, but I'm a biased mom. I think he's a total ham and I know we're going to cherish these photos forever. (I say that every time I share photos of him, don't I? ha) That last photo really gets me though! That's totally a Toby face...

Today we're driving 12 hours to the Atlantic coast! We're spending a few days with our best friends in Wilmington and I'm so excited to get there! Mike and I haven't been to Wilmington since we got engaged in March 2012, so we're stoked on getting our Nikki's Sushi and Opera House fix. Crossing my fingers for perfect weather and smooth sailing. See ya on the other side!

You can see more of our film adventures over on the Him and Honey blog! xo
