These pictures feel like ages ago, but the truth is they're barely a week old. Yesterday it was 70 degrees and beautiful (albeit windy), and even today the high is near 60. I know I'll be missing these days in just a few weeks when the humidity ramps up and makes us all shiny on the skin. Speaking of a beautiful Sunday - yesterday was the perfect day. I woke up feeling rested, spent time outside while Toby befriended our little neighbor girl (and played for ages!), enjoyed a cook out with family over at my parents' house, and posted up on the couch with a quilt, pillows, and a Martinelli's apple juice while I watched He's Just Not That Into You. I managed to sneak in an hour long snooze and capped off the evening with entirely too much good TV (Shameless, House of Lies, Girls). We also decided to give Downton Abbey a go. We watched the first episode and seem to like it thus far. I'm excited to see how it progresses though. Any of you watch it? (I'm sure that question will be met with a resounding yes! I'm always tardy to the party)

This dress was picked up at ModCloth's Cabin Fever sale sometime ago. This outfit was also originally worn on a day without snow, but my schedule doesn't always permit outfit photos (and by that I mean my hair doesn't always permit them... Clearly I have a pretty flexible schedule. That cowlick, though? Pretty stubborn.) Seeing as the weather surprised me, and it was obviously quite chilly, I opted for a peacoat and a new scarf, too. I didn't think I'd have the opportunity to wear this scarf this season since winter was awfully mild. I'm glad I was able to give it a go. Now just to work my way through the other half-dozen I acquired during the past several months. Funny how scarves were high on my list for Christmas and I received so many lovely ones, yet Mother Nature wants them stowed away 'til the next year.

Do you ever have those days where you just wake up feeling like Today is the day! or This week is going to be spectacular!? Today I have that feeling, and I'm really hoping to hold onto it. It's hard not to constantly say things like "Good things are on the horizon! Happiness is looming!" even though they're rather empty and oftentimes vague. I guess I just get these feelings and I'm hoping they're not total nonsense.

I wish every day could be like yesterday (sans the unforgiving wind). Today it's gloomy and rainy, but I hope that there are sunny days ahead. This girl has furniture to start building! Happy Monday, friends! Hope it's a good one for you!

Ballerina Belle

This outfit, y'all. It's a new favorite for sure. I think I've already worn it three times in the past week (yikes!) and (spoiler alert!) I'm 90% sure I'll be wearing it to a little blogger get-together tonight over at the Stone Fox. About 2 dozen fellow Nashville ladies have been planning on getting together for cocktails + a few bites... that day is today! I'm already friends with about half of the group but I'm excited to meet loads of new gals. Hopefully a hefty portion of them are able to make it! It's weird to think about blogging on a smaller/local scale. We each sign onto these platforms, write + share things about our lives, and we reach thousands of people worldwide. Someone in Japan is probably reading this right now... and it's perfectly possible that someone two doors down from me could be reading the same blog post. I don't know, that's just so crazy to me! It'll be nice to bond with other people who "get it". The outfit posts, the post planning, etc. It's not like blogging is exactly rocket science, but it's fun to connect over!

Anyway, back to the outfit. I wouldn't normally post so many of the exact same photos/poses/compositions, but I'm my own worst edit. This dress is the one I wore for my college graduation back in the day. (Check it - same belt + purse! And no lower-body tattoos! haha) This dress is one of my all time favorites. The color and fabric choices are just so so perfect. A dream in a dress! I had only worn it once since graduation, so I pulled it out of my closet when I found this velvet corduroy jacket. I thought they'd match perfectly. I picked up this jacket at Goodwill last year for about 50 cents. It was a Goodwill Outlet grab and I can't tell you how many times I washed it. (I don't even like going into that place without gloves. I've found some icky stuff in those bins!) Even still, I couldn't leave without it. Two quarters very well spent in my opinion! I decided to wear a hair pin as a brooch and then I slipped on my Blowfish Lasso booties. These boots are seriously so so good!  I'm a fan haha Enid decided she wanted to play model, too. She loves to wrap herself up in my legs any time I'm out in the yard and I didn't have the heart to nix her. I can't be picky with her affection! I've gotta soak it in and enjoy it when she decides to show it. That's a typical cat, yeah?

Excuse my crazy hair-helmet that I've got going on in some of these pictures. I've been too lazy to curl my hair this past week so I'm just relying on the subtle curl (read: unbrushed mess) my hair tends to accumulate while sleeping. Some days I teeter a little too far over into "disheveled" territory. I think I'm still trying to test those boundaries and see what I can get away with. Hope your Tuesday is awesome!

Welcome to a brand new week, honeybees! It was a busy one for us, but I'm growing rather fond of picking up the office workload each week. Ha, Wonder how long that will last!? We took these photos last week around East Nashville when the weather grew a bit warm again. I constantly wonder if the rest of America has weather as fickle as we do. It was a nice excuse to break out a lightweight dress and pair it with a new peach + gold cardigan. Granted this dress is far shorter than I typically dare to wear, but I was feeling fancy. I wish I had more detailed photos of the dress because these pictures do it no justice! It's a beautiful light cream color and the bottom is chiffon while the top has a mesh collar and back. The back is actually a racerback style and as silly as this is going to sound, I love the heavy duty exposed metal zipper in the back. This cardi is also dreamy! It has little sequins sewn into it, but my favorite detail is the gold chain around the collar and center front. Perfect excuse to layer on entirely too many gold bangles and even it all out with some neutral grey shoes and scarf. Okay, real talk -- how on earth do you fold a large square silk scarf?! I spent more than my fair share of time looking up good ways to wear them and the only thing I came up with that didn't look silly on me was tying it on my bag and wearing it as a headwrap. This outfit didn't call for a twisted headband look but I actually really like it and plan to implement that soon! The scarf is seriously silkkkyyyy smooth (duh, because it's silk haha) but the quality is really really nice. I wasn't sure how the graphic typography would work within my wardrobe but I like it as a little flyaway bag accessory! I actually kept it on my purse for another outfit coming up next week, too.

This week I'm giving myself a challenge: get in the kitchen and make something. Anything! Seriously... anything. I'm notoriously bad in the kitchen. I even managed to screw up whipped cream (I know. Ugh) But since that's one thing that I'm really really bad at, I told Mike I want to make a conscious effort to get better! I'm trying to get in the kitchen to make at least one thing a week. Even if it's a total fail, I want to say I tried. This week I'm making banana bread (from the cookbook Mike's aunt made me! It's full of family recipes that have been passed down. I seriously cherish it and I want to put it to good use!) I promise to share what I end up accomplishing. Maybe blogging about it will help keep me accountable haha

This week we're gearing up for Halloween! Hoping to include pumpkin carving with friends (even if we are a bit late to the game), firepits in the backyard, and taking Toby trick or treating. We haven't decided exactly where we'll take him, but I'm eager to see that little man all dressed up (as Batman!) and overjoyed at buckets full of candy. We still have candy of his left over from Easter! Probably time we threw that out... but at least we're good at rationing it! Here's to a happy and productive week!

More photos from our new favorite location. I just can't get enough of that rusty pod. (And I'm entirely too aware of how bizarre that statement is.) I wore this (with a different cardigan actually... but I've since lost said cardigan so whatever) a couple of weeks ago when Mike, Toby and I met up with Beca + Doug for lunch at Taco Mamacita here in Nashville. It was the first time we've met in real life (!!!) so it was super fun. I'm naturally really awkward and weird (Okay, but what blogger doesn't say that?!) but it felt like we had known them forever. I'm super excited that they're now living so close (~2 hours away)! And super stoked that Beca is going to bake up all sorts of awesomeness for our wedding dessert table!

About this outfit -- Not much to say aside from the fact that the chiffon on this LuLu*s dress is the milkiest chiffon in all the land! Seriously. It's so soft. I may or may not have made Beca stroke it outside of the restaurant. Judge me. Also - those gold foil "dots" are apples. Yeah, golden apples! I paired the dress with a pearl + gold headband from Forever 21 and a Romwe collar necklace (2 things that I don't wear very often). Then there's that cardigan that kind of doesn't really match at all but I tried. I originally wore it with a black cardi (I think?) but this'll do, too. ;) 

By the way, Florida is sunny. This girl is coming home with a tan! xo

Today is the moment of truth! And by that I just mean I'll be opening the bar for the first time by myself (during the work week) and I'm slightly terrified. In my 6 years at this bar I've never worked on a Tuesday. Doesn't sound like a big deal, but all of the prices are different and it's normally really dead. I'm kind of nervous honestly. I'll work 3:45pm til 12am, and that doesn't include driving to and from. Then I'll work 3:45pm til 2:30am tomorrow (and Friday and Saturday!) Ahh! This is the week I have not been looking forward to! haha Luckily Mike will be there to help keep things under control and keep me company, too. I'm looking forward to 3am Saturday night. We're hopping in the car with my parents and Toby to head down to the beach for the week. Mike and I plan on sleeping most of the way down... I have a feeling that won't work quite as we hope!

Nothing too special going on with this outfit, but I managed to wear it on the rare day it felt like Fall here in Nashville. The clouds blanketed the sun for most of the day and there was an oh so nice breeze. All of the pieces in this outfit are pretty old honestly, less the gold collar necklace. It's hard to see in the photos and I only now realized I didn't get a better close up. You can see it here! It's a really really pretty statement piece. This clutch was a 15 cent Goodwill Outlet score from back in the day.

I don't know what it is about the color red, but all of a sudden I only want to wear shoes in that hue. Going from the girl who wouldn't be seen sans black flats to being a little bit more daring in my footwear choices, I feel it might only be natural. These are some red pretties that I've picked up over the past couple of months. I'm in the middle of a closet overhaul to get rid of a bunch of stuff I don't wear anymore, and I'm desperately trying to pair these with anything I can find! (The three solo pictures are my absolute favorite shoes of the bunch. Seriously, so good!)

Phew! This is the first time I've sat down to get work done at my computer since early Friday morning. My little weekend break was awesome, and I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with both my family and Mike's. Upon arriving home Sunday night I was all of a sudden hit with an insane sickness. Like, I can't even tell you how quickly it came on. By 11pm I was feeling almost dead. I went to bed and woke up feeling even worse Monday morning. I spent from 8:30am to 2pm on the couch, huddled up in blankets with an insane fever, headache, sore throat and inability to walk. Then Mike gave me a handful of medicine, tucked me back in bed and another hour and a half later my fever had broken and I was literally sopping wet. (Gross, right? haha) I had a lot to do yesterday so I tried dragging myself to my office at 5pm but just a handful of emails in and I was dunzo. Back to the couch I went. I don't even know what kind of sickness I had... it was so bizarre. I still feel incredibly cruddy, but loads better than I did. Out of the past 36 hours, I've slept 29 of them. I kept having to remind myself that I was just going to make myself sicker if I didn't just rest and get better. I just hate putting off design work and projects for clients so I try my best to work through it. Here's to hoping it leaves as quickly as it came!

I wore this outfit to Elle + Bryan's wedding reception back last Sunday. I ended up wearing black tights underneath and it was a good thing I did... it was so windy! I love the color blocking on the skirt of this dress. Cream, rust and grey? Perfect! I felt like when paired with a rust cardi, bee brooch and my new Blowfish Tamalas that it was the perfect outfit. I can't even tell you how comfortable these shoes are. My Blowfish wedges are always some of my favorites because you don't even feel like you're wearing them. I love the fun cutouts and overall shape of the shoe. The color, too! 

It's only 11am but it seriously feels like 5 or 6pm here. Not sure why, but even Mike said so. I think just being sick has made me feel run down and pretty much over it. I'm a huge baby when I'm sick though. It's embarrassing haha Luckily it doesn't seem like anything Edy's popsicles, Bob's Burgers on Netflix, and a hefty dose of NyQuil can't fix! Every time I get sickly I'm reminded of how awesome it is to not be sick so I plan on taking full advantage of my health the rest of the week. Sunshine, being outdoors, and getting things done! I'm ready!

Line By Line

I'm having a hard time remembering what day it is lately. I seriously could've sworn today was Tuesday. I think not having an out-of-home job really throws my brain for a loop! This weekend was a doozy though. Saturday Mike and I ventured over to Murfreesboro to celebrate Bryan and Elle's wedding reception and take plenty of photos. Then Sunday we had a lazy day before shooting Kayce and her little family at Shelby Park. (Seriously, just wait until you see the photos. SO CUTE!) But it was nice to stay busy. Guess I'll continue that today as I finish up 2 client blog designs and try working on our Save The Dates. I'm not getting anywhere with them so I probably just need to wait until we have our engagement pictures taken, then go from there. Speaking of which, I should probably set that up soon. Ahh, so much to do. (Please don't judge me by the song above. I'm kind of in love with it and I'm so ashameeeedd!)

This dress was a gift from the sweet Aileen over at Kintage. It's such a lightweight and casual dress. Perfect for the sunshine. It was a bit chilly the day I wore this so tights and a jacket were added, but it has short sleeves so it'd still be adorable sans any coverup! I found this old purse in my closet from early last year and decided to dust it off for a few days. It totally reminds me of Pomegranate Raspberry sorbet from Sweet CeCe's. Maybe that means I should go get some today ha.

Flo-Rida

Okay, so it didn't take too long, but I now have a new tie for favorite dress ever. Uhm, what could possibly top a touristy Florida flamingo dress?! Pretty much nothing. Flamingos happen to be my favorite bird and second favorite land animal (Sloths, people! Sloths.) I've been swooning over it for far too long so I treated myself to something nice as a sort of "light at the end of the tunnel" reward following the hectic weeks leading up to Honeybean's spring opening. It only seemed appropriate that I wear it on Saturday. Of course I went for flats since it was rainy and there's a lot of physical labor that goes into it, but I really love the Heda wedges! (Silly/irrelevant story: It was during a lull on Saturday that I realized that the rapper Flo-Rida's name is just Florida with a hyphen (doh!). That then lead me to Google all about Flo-Rida until my iPhone was dead. Flo-Rida is from Florida. Who woulda thought? ;) haha! The more you know!)

It's not all that noticeable, but remember last week when I said I accidentally dyed my hair with some mystery color? Well, I think it was Red Hot (instead of my typical Red Fire). I know, huge difference right? But the color is more of an auburn base as opposed to copper. I'm all about the orange red but I've been loving my slightly darker locks. I've been itching to go back brunette in preparation for the wedding but this is a great ease into it for a few months. 

I also wore this on Sunday (outfit repeater! Throw me in fashion prison!) when we were at my parents' house and I not so subtlety hinted that this little family needed a getaway. My mom had been talking about maybe taking a trip to the beach in the upcoming month or so and I feel like things of that nature just need some help along the way. Daily pestering perhaps? Hey, whatever works! I could go for some sunshine!

We've also been taking advantage of the insane natural light in my office lately for outfit photos. I know it's crazy busy in the background and it's going to get repetitive, but it's nice to not have to seek out a shady spot in our yard while Toby is napping!
