// What We Wore - v.2 - Denim Edition (+ $100 Giveaway!)

Levis x KohlsGosh, I really do love this goofy little bunch of mine.

Normally Tennessee is unbearably hot this time of year, but the past two weeks have been outrageously out of ordinary. It's felt like early October, complete with breezy evenings and crisp mornings. We're always forgetting to grab our jackets before heading to the bus stop in the AM, but the afternoon sun definitely warms things up. We can't exactly put our shorts up for the season, you know? We're at that fun in between stage of seasons and I kind of love it. While I'm not crazy about pumpkin flavored things or the reality of winter following shortly after, I do love the promise of cooler temps and layers that Autumn brings. In the spirit of it being "Almost Autumn," we've partnered up with Kohl's to share how we dress up Levi's demin for the season.

My absolute favorite thing about the fellas' outfits: it was a total coincidence that they matched! We didn't set out to make the guys share a color palette, but Mike and Toby picked what they wanted to wear, and I pieced together Linden's outfit on the fly since his fun (mini!) denim jacket hadn't arrived. I just love that picture above. They fit together so well, both in style and cuteness haha! I honestly haven't seen Mike in jeans in months! While I have nothing against shorts or scrubs, I just really like me a man in a nice pair of jeans. (He's wearing the slim-fitting 511s) As for fancy footwear, he thrifted those boots several years ago and I always get tickled when they make their way out of the closet. I kind of love the whiskey tee he wore with his outfit, too.

My dress is one I grabbed from the Indiocation collection at Kohl's. You can't tell by how it photographs, but it's the softest material! (And it's currently 50% off online!) I've been telling Mike I need to swing back by our local store so I can grab it in navy, too. It looks like a totally different dress, despite being identical. Anyawy, you're totally seeing me in my "natural state" here ha! Hair in a top knot, hoodie on and Birkenstocks. This is likely exactly what I look like when you read this post.

Toby's outfit is probably my favorite. I'm not exactly sure why, but I think it probably has a lot to do with the fact he's growing up and becoming his own independent person. The past 2 years of school the kid didn't want to wear graphic tees, but now he's totally all about them. I love seeing how much he's changed over the years. That strawberry blonde hair and those freckles just get me every time! He's wearing the slim-fit 511 style of Levi's, too, but you can tell he's a pretty lanky little dude! I bought him a 5T in the jeans and they give him such a laid-back, relaxed look. He's basically sixteen. HELP!

Linden's little mini denim jacket didn't arrive in time for me to photograph it for this post, but I'll just have to save that cuteness for next time! While I know it totally would've melted your hearts, I'm betting tiny mustard pants will do the same thing ha. It makes me sad to cover up those chunky little rolls up, but at least I get to do it in style.

I just know these photos of Mike and the kids will be some of my most cherished for years to come. I love just seeing them all together. It makes me really want to prioritize getting out this season and doing things as a family like orchards or hay rides and corn mazes. I know I'm getting ahead of myself because I just looked up the forecast tomorrow and it's going to be 91 haha! I guess I'll stow away our denim for a few more weeks...

Here's to pumpkin spice lattes, falling leaves, and bobbing for apples, or whatever it is that makes you love Autumn! We're almost there!

In my sneaky attempt to get a few family photos in our albums and on our walls, I asked Toby and Mike to take part in a few outfit photos. Well, actually Toby asked me to join in, and then I convinced Mike. Linden doesn't really get a say yet so he's there, too. These photos were snapped a couple of days after Christmas, and it was actually not that cold out (hence the bare legs). It turned chilly about 10 minutes before we shot these and by the end of it I was regretting going without tights. Of course it's been hovering around 2 degrees here lately (what! This is Tennessee!) so in comparison it was like being in the tropics haha Anyone else totally over winter? This is my first outfit post in quite a while since the holidays absolutely got away from me. I had so many sign orders and so much going on, I barely had time to breathe. It wasn't all bad though! It gave me a lot of time to just hang out with this bunch and enjoy some of the holidays. This might also be the one time during the hoildays that I managed to get dressed and have sort of halfway presentable hair ha!

Mike only agreed to a photo or two so I played nice and just included the one above. I love this photo of him though. It's so crazy to me that he's in his final trimester of his LPN program! He graduates in April and I am so so excited. He'll hopefully find full-time work locally for a few months while he works on his pre-reqs for the RN program. I know it's just one year out of so many, but it felt like so far off in the distance this time last year. We're hoping to celebrate each milestone along the way to help keep our sanity. Nursing school is rough... even moreso when you're less than three months in and you have a brand new baby. Mike has been handling it like a total champ though. He has amazing grades and he totally owns his clinicals. I'm so proud of him! I love how he lights up when he talks about his work and I can see just how badly he wants to be a nurse practitioner. I know it'll mean so many amazing things for our family.

Toby has been a bit of a handful since turning six last month. (What is it with this age?!) We've had our ups and downs since, but that boy... man. He finds a way to be the most precious, sincere, heartwarming kid almost daily. We've started a new discipline/reward system at home and we're just over a week and a half into it, but so far so good. I'm hoping it sticks because it's been so easy to implement. I think he's super ready for Spring, too, since he's been cooped up in the house because of the cold. I think getting him outside and playing with the neighborhood kids once again will give us all peace of mind haha He's growing up at warp speed and I feel like every time I look at him he's aged 2 years. Those missing bottom teeth slay me.

Linden is being his usual self. Happy and smiley, but equally demanding of all your attention. I never knew such a joyful baby could be so high needs. Most days I don't get out of my pajamas because I have to hold him for every feed and every nap and every time inbetween. Not that I mind, of course, but it does leave me with few things to do (read: blog about. ha!) Luckily I can use his nap times as an excuse to binge watch Netflix. Currently I'm wrapping up Wentworth and it's SO good! I totally recommend it if you haven't watched it yet!

This week I'm planning on working on some design work, finishing up my workspace makeover, painting a billion signs to ship out, and trying desperately to keep my house clean. And by house I mean my kitchen and living room because apparently no more than two rooms in my home can be clean at once. Anyone else?!

Happy Monday, friends! Today I'm off to Las Vegas for another round of WWDMAGIC! (I couldn't be there without your support so please know how incredibly grateful I am!) Yesterday we had such a gorgeous day! It kicked my Spring Fever into serious overdrive. Sunshine, bare legs, and an incredibly blue sky. It sure beats the frozen rain we got for the entire week leading up to it. I took advantage of the sunshine and popped out of the house in a new polka dot dress. I scored this little number from ModCloth recently and I instantly knew I had to pair it with my yellow flats. Everything about it screamed Minnie Mouse to me! I opted to tone down the loud colors with a new, black nautical cardigan from Voodoo Vixen. I'm obsessed with how comfortable this cardigan is. It's solid black right now, only because I made sure not to sit on any of our furniture wearing it haha! Ugh, life with short hair dogs! (Speaking of which, any of y'all have any recommendations on really, really good lint rollers or snazzy methods for getting rid of pesky pet hair?!? Nothing stands up to bulldog hair it seems) Anyway, I love this dress! It's a little short on the backside, but the color and fit are otherwise perfect. The bright white collar is definitely one of my favorite features. Plus the piping on the little pockets!

Last week was such a blur for me. Everyone in the house battled an icky stomach bug, Toby was out of school for 2 or 3 days thanks to "snow" (ha!), and we spent Friday at a Pre-K Cake Walk where Toby hit the jackpot! He won six times! After #4 we were like "Okay, this is just ridiculous" and we asked Toby if it'd be okay if we gave his extra winnings to his friends instead. At the end of the day he still came home with 3 boxes of Little Debbie cakes (Swiss Rolls for him because "they're [his] favorite". Oatmeal Cream Pies "for Dad because they're his favorite". Strawberry Rollups because "they look yummy") and a big box of V-Day chocolates "for Mom." That kid! Not to mention the big box of candy, treats, and Valentines his classmates gave him. Tobes was on cloud nine basically haha

On the topic of Valentine's Day, did y'all have a good one?! I woke up to a dozen peach roses, the most comfortable maternity shirts, a hilarious pregnancy book, and plenty of candy. Not to mention a handmade card from my mister! Mike totally spoiled me and I was over the moon! I returned the love with new snazzy pajamas, some Forage bowties (no other brand compares!), a silly lovey-dovey book, and a handmade pineapple card (I mean, a fineapple!) Toby racked up with some SpiderMan gummies, a Lego digger, and new Matchbox cars. I know it's not about what you receive, but it was such a special treat for each of us. After we put Toby to bed on Friday night we enjoyed a few episodes of House of Cards season 2. Have y'all watched it yet?! Dude! (Please don't share any spoilers for others!) I'm so stoked on this season. That's one amazing show.

I'm looking forward to a full work week in Las Vegas! I can't wait to reconnect with some of my favorite brands from last season, and meet plenty more. If all goes according to plan I'll be interviewing Kristin Cavallari tomorrow, too! (Let me know if you have any [non personal] questions you'd like me to kick her way!) If you're in Vegas (or have experience there) let me know if there are any places I should check out! I'm almost 17 weeks pregnant so I don't exactly have any business in the ~*clubs haha! (Though I definitely plan on popping into Beacher's Madhouse on Wednesday night with the rest of the group! Even if just for an hour. How can you pass that up?!)

Also - that last diptych! How cute is that kid?!?! Gosh I just love him! He's kindly requested that we cut his hair before t-ball season starts so those precious strawberry blonde locks will be long gone here soon. Anyway, have a lovely day! xo

Here's another What We Wore post! (See the first one here!) Now that the weather is finally cool (cold!) enough to wear tights, I've been slowly but surely breaking out my shorter dresses. It seems to backwards to do it that way - longer dresses in the heat - shorter in the winter, but whatever. It might be hard to see, but this dress has some gorgeous chiffon scallops on the top. I was instantly drawn to it because it looks so much like our Honeybean! I knew I needed to pair it with my striped swan cardigan because the bows on the swan are the same shade of pink. This is what I wore when we ventured over to work at the coffee shop for the whole day. Speaking of which - Mike and I brainstormed so many awesome ideas! For Porter Flea (last minute, I know!), for the blog, for our day to day life in general. We stocked up on some craft supplies and sorted all of our hand-drawn sketches. We're now in the production mode of several projects so hopefully we'll be able to share some of them soon! We thought up some really great DIYs to share for the holidays, but I'm trying to put a rush on them since it's already almost mid-November! WHAT! Time seemed to go much slower when I was younger... don't you agree?

Remember the kittens that I blogged about a few weeks ago? Well, they're still hanging around the house. One of the kittens got trapped under a work table we have on the carport one morning and I heard it crying non-stop. Mike and I managed to move the table to see it frozen in fear. I picked it up and handled it for a little while so it'd calm down, then I hand fed it, too. It seemed to warm up to me almost instantly and now she's a total cuddle bug. The mama cat seems to have run off somewhere, but this one little kitten will come right up to me any time I walk outside. The others are still terrified, but they watched me handle the other one and they at least accepted my kitty treats. I've posted on a few local sites about rehoming them so cross your fingers all goes well. I've taken to the one kitten so much that I think we might keep her. (Mike doesn't want to, but she's the most precious thing in the world! I can't give her awayyyyy!) Plus, I already named her so that means she's found her forever home, right?! (Her name is Hazel Ruth. She has gorgeous hazel eyes so...) But if any of you are in/around Nashville and want to adopt a sweet lil 8 week old kitten, let me know. They're not vaccinated yet (sorry, we just don't have the means to vaccinate every stray animal we come across) but they all seem to be healthy and sweet. I mentioned in my last outfit post that we took Toby out to the country to practice his photography skills. We did that again on this day (Tuesday) and he had a blast. We've been giving him total creative freedom to photograph whatever he wants, but we offer little tips and tricks to help him out. We're letting him shoot strictly film since there's an undeniable excitement that comes with film photography. Plus it only seems natural since Mike and I are film photographers. We can't wait to get his first roll developed this week! We hung up a photo "tree" in his room so he can take his printed pictures and display them proudly. Even if he ends up not totally loving it down the road, that's okay. I'm just excited that we get to share this passion of ours with him for a little bit. Who knows? Maybe he'll end up being a better photographer than us!

We're trying to make the short days count around here. It's hard to pick up Toby from school at 2:30 only to have it be pitch black by 5pm. That doesn't allow us much time to adventure and play outside. I hate it getting dark early as much as the next person, but I also sort of appreciate it being daylight when we wake up at 6:30am. Even if I sleep in, I'm wide awake by 7:30 because it's so sunny in our bedroom. I just wish the natural light would spread through the rest of the house! haha At least he's out of school today (Administrative day) so maybe we can all do something fun as a family. Goodness knows I have a mound of work that needs to get finished before the weekend, but I'm thinking a few hours of adventure won't hurt, right?!

Any exciting plans for your weekend? I'm going to be taking it easy and enjoying a house all to myself for the third weekend in a row! Mike has been working non-stop on the 2-story shed my parents are building and Toby loves to hang out with Grandma. That gives me two glorious days to nap, Netflix and bubble bath it up all on my own. "Me" time becomes such a luxury once you're married with a kid! Happy Friday! xo

Navy Sprinkle - Kaelah Bee
This week has been so productive! I truly think it's totally due to the fact we're so excited about our office and it's motivating us to just get in there and work. Monday we logged an 11 hour work day and yesterday we clocked just under 12 hours. We're making huge waves with our Him + Honey rebrand (almost there!) and we've been brainstorming things we want to set in motion at the first of the year. It's hard to believe it's already mid October, ya know? October! Seeing all of the Christmas decorations in the stores has me both excited and totally stressed out. Wasn't I just buying holiday gifts like last month?!?! Ahh! We slipped out of the house long enough yesterday to snap a few outfit photos in town. Toby was adamant that we take some photos of his outfit, too, but it worked out well because he was wearing some pretty adorable pieces sent over from Wildlife Works. Mike and I were each gifted a Members Only jacket (!!!) and since he was wearing his I made him pose for a few photos, too haha.

I've basically been living in this BCBGeneration dress and MO jacket lately. Sometimes I get self conscious and think to myself "Uh, was I wearing this yesterday?!" when I go to sign Toby out of school. I guess that's one flaw (or perk?) of working at home. I've had this BCBGeneration dress for like ever, but it ran really really big. I never paid it much mind but after making it my designated "pajama dress" I accidentally dried it in the dryer and voila! It now fits! The magic of cotton! During my time at MAGIC in August I had the pleasure of sitting in on a panel with Joyce Azria of BCBGeneration. It was so inspiring to hear her speak about her day to day happenings in the office and where she draws her inspiration from. She's so well spoken! (BCBGeneration also hosted the amazing VIP SkyBox at MAGIC and that was like, my favorite place ever!) Anyway, the weather has totally dropped off over here and the highs have been in the low 60s. My snazzy pink jacket has been doing me a world of good but I hope I don't need a heavier coat soon. I want to enjoy Autumn before it blows away. That's the only thing I hate about the Fall season: it's fleeting. Oh so fleeting. I had no clue what shoes I wanted to wear with this number (normally I resort to some tan flats or *gasp* flip flops!) but I found my pink cut-out flats when we were moving the office around so I gave them a whirl. It's probably too matchy-matchy for most, but I love any excuse to wear these shoes! I found them on clearance at JCPenney during the Summer and they're so comfortable!

Since Toby wanted us to photograph his outfit, we let him be a model. It's precious to hear him ask "Hey Mom, can we take pictures of my outfit, too, when we go with Dad to take your picture?" Getting him to sit still long enough to snap a photo is easier said than done, but I just kept at it and ended up with so many silly photos. The one above just cracks me up. He's a total ham. Can you believe he's going to be five (!!!) in exactly two months?! Ahhh! Make it slow down! His cute little shirt and sweater were gifts from Erin over at Wildlife Works. She sent over another shirt for him, too but he'll have to grow into that one! Despite being almost 5 he's still in 3T tops because he's just so darn skinny. For those of you who haven't heard of Wildlife Works, they're an organic, sustainable clothing line that helps conserve forest and wildlife around the world. Their mission statement says it far better than I can! I was totally smitten by how soft the tees and sweater were. Don't worry though, even if you don't have a little peanut of your own, WW makes clothing for men and women, too! Major thanks to Erin for sending these over for Toby. He was head over heels when he got his very own package in the mail! But really now... how precious is a kid in skinny jeans?!
