This dress instantly made me think of "Old Hollywood" and bright red lips. Obviously I skipped the lips (some most days I just can't be fussed, ya know?) but we just happened to be in Lawrenceburg to see Mike's parents and we knew that the old cinema would make the perfect backdrop. If you're ever in the area, downtown Lawrenceburg has the best backdrops for photos. I mean, if standing in front of a dilapidated/abandoned building and rusty walls is your thing... I'm totally into it so maybe I'm biased haha More about this outfit - this dress totally caught my eye when I opened a recent Stitch Fix box, but the length and "wrap" bust made me question it for a while. My ladies simply don't fill out tops like that, so I had to finagle it just a little bit. I love the fullness of the skirt on the dress, even though it does my hips no favors. It could stand to have a few inches clipped out of it on the side seams, but I might keep that in mind if I ever decide to shorten it. I like how it looks like I'm wearing a petticoat even though I'm not. (*cue the internal debate of "Is it the dress... or my backside?!* ha!)
You totally can't tell in the photos (because I do that whole "shift my weight onto one leg" thing) but I'm wearing my little skull sweater clips. I didn't want to wear them in their normal fashion since the top of this cardigan is all lace, so I decided to stagger them on one side. Do people do that? Total fail on the photo execution, but I thought they were fun. A nice "dark" touch to this outfit. I'm rocking my trusty ol' favorites on my wrist, too. My bow bracelet and a few Forever 21 grabs. This clutch was a Ross score a while back and it's so roomy for such a small bag! I pulled my dusty Blowfish Heda wedges off of my shelf for this outfit because I figured if I wore my MIA Jukeboxes again you'd all shun me. I feel like I need to invest in a nice pair of black pumps, but then I wonder if they'd ever get any use.
This weekend was an exhausting one! We did the whole family/girls shopping trip on Saturday and oh my word! My feet! I'm not sure they've ever hurt so bad before. By the end of the night I just wanted to keel over and cry haha I was excited to pick up Toby some colored jeans at H&M though. Kaylie had a blast and we all enjoyed some time away from the daily grind. That's really want matters, right? Mike spent the day helping my stepdad lay the foundation for this huge shed they're building in the backyard. It's a 2-story number and the upstairs is going to be a "gym"/tanning room and I'm stoked to test out their workout gear when it's done. (Read: I'll use it like once and then be all "Oh, yeah, I'm totally going to go over there today... *not* haha) He spent all of yesterday working on it, too. I made it a priority to clean clean clean! I did so many loads of laundry, goodness me! We also got around to doing a little wedding photo project late last night and I'll for sure share the finished pieces of that later this week. Kind of crazy to realize we've already been married over 10 months (and those were the first photos we ever even printed...!) Sheesh.
This morning we're having Toby's pre-K teacher over for her "home visit." We'll find out what two days Toby goes to school this week, then next week he'll be full time. Ah! It's finally here! I'm going to work on blog posts for the rest of the week and hopefully next week, too. So crazy to think that WWDMAGIC is almost here and that Sunday I'll be in Las Vegas! I'm totally nervous and I have no clue what to wear... AKA an ordinary day in my world. Happy Monday!

I love love love this dress. SO CUTE.
ReplyDeleteI think the whole "GAAA WHAT DO I WEAR" is a universal phenomenon. Instead of the "is it the dress or my backside" debate, I have a pair of jeans that leads me to ask "are these my hips or is it Russia?"... yeah, I think we all have our own kind of crazy haha you look lovely, as always!

I got that dress in my last Stitch Fix... I really liked it but had a similar issue with the bust and didn't keep it.
ReplyDeleteLove those polka dots and that setting! Sounds like you had a solid weekend. I'm excited to hear all about WWDMAGIC soon!

an Aryeh dress. . .every time I see that company I swoon because of the fact that it means "Lion" in Hebrew and that is my younger son's middle name (pronounced like saying the letters R-E-A). This dress looks beautiful on you!! Great backdrop! That is cute that Toby's teacher does "home visits"! I hope he has a great time in school when he starts!!!

I love that dress on you! Even the length but I know how I feel when dresses hit me right there too so I understand wishing it was shorter.
ReplyDeleteSo gorgeous Miss Bee! Honestly I wish we had theaters like that in the UK still, so fun and somewhat romantic!

I love the backdrop - I wish I thought more about the background of my fashion posts. Usually I just end up in my backyard with a gross fence behind me...oh well!
ReplyDeletei passed that theater this weekend and loved it! we went to an auction in lawrenceburg, but the theater was probably the most interesting thing we saw! ha!
ReplyDeleteYour hair is fabulous and that dress is adorable! I love old Hollywood style :)
