This outfit has beelined straight to the top of my favorite things to wear. Ever since getting these JCP dresses and Mak cardigans (via StitchFix!), I've been loving the play on colors. (See the last colorway with this dress HERE! And it's basically the exact same outfit as here... just a different dress. Whoops!) I feel like they're just the right colors to go together, despite how vivid they each are on their own. Am I totally crazy? haha I'm all about my personal uniform... a day dress, cardigan and wedges. You'd probably judge me if I told you how many times I've worn this exact outfit since photographing it... it's a little embarrassing!
Yesterday was Toby's orientation for Pre-K (like I mentioned) and it went really well. Today we're scheduled to take him in for his entrance exam, then he'll get placed in his class and we'll meet his teacher on Monday when he comes by our house. He'll go to school for 2 full days next week, then start full time on the 19th. I'll be out of town then, but at least I'll get to see him off for his first two days! I know he'll have already learned so much by the time I get back on 23rd. He's so so eager about school and it makes me so happy! This morning he sat in the chair in the living room and practiced writing all of his upper and lowercase letters because he wanted to show his teacher haha One of the harsh realities of parenting a school aged child: the early wake up call! I've always wanted to be a morning person, but I'm just not. I'm not! Well, now I have to be. Those 6:30am wake up times are going to haunt me every weekday from now until he's 16 (and I'm counting on him driving!) Phew. Surely I'll get used to it soon, right?! Maybe this will force us to have a more structured work schedule. Goodness knows we need it!
Today I'm going to be playing a little bit of catch up with emails, since I sort of let those go all last week in preparation for Toby's school stuff. I've also got a hefty load of sign orders to paint! Seriously, thank you to every single one of you who have ordered a sign from us... whether it was this month, last season, or last year. I get so much joy out of painting them and sending them home to their new owners. It's sort of the best job ever! I'm working on a few ready-made designs to share later this weekend and early next week, too. If you've be racking your brain trying to come up with something snazzy, maybe these will help inspire you.
If any of you are parents (or nannies/siblings/caretakers) of any toddler-aged children, hopefully you'll find tomorrow's post useful! I'm working on the finishing touches now, so let's hope I don't get too distracted by my house which totally needs to be picked up haha The curse of working from home!

Awwww, good luck to Toby on his first day! I'm not a mommy, but everyone says the school years go by in a flash! So maybe those early mornings will be done before you know it, haha!

Very pretty color combination, the purse makes it perfect. I am not a morning person and neither are my kids- too bad for us we have to try.
ReplyDeleteOh man, jewel tones! Love this.
ReplyDeleteUGHHHH my husband and I are still trying to figure out what school to send our four year old to. This stuff is stressful. I hope Toby likes his!

The colors are vivid but do go together surprisingly well! Good luck to Toby! First days of school are fun :)
ReplyDeleteI was never a morning person until the past year, now I don't like it if I don't wake up before 7. My trick to not being a total bitch when I wake up is using a radio alarm that way you can slowly wake up, and having a drip machine set up on a timer, coffee all ready for you! When you get into it it's great, I love getting things done before 8 or 9 AM I feel like such a boss.
ReplyDeleteTEACH ME YOUR WAYS! I'm really really REALLY hoping that a week or two in I'll be totally on top of my early wakeup. Ideally I'd like for Mike and I to take Toby to school, sign him in, then pop over to the park for a morning walk. Getting all of that in before 8am?! That'd be insane! haha
DeleteThat outfit is gorgeous! You're too cute. Exciting for Toby to start school. Glad he's so excited. Can't wait for your post tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteAlso sorry for lack of comment love as of late. Been busy & I really wish they'd add notifications to the bloglovin' app to remind me in my space cadet phase right now, lol!
I was just thinking the other day that I wish the BL app had notifications! Great minds think alike! ;) I hope you enjoy tomorrow's post! I hope someone (anyone! everyone!) finds it useful :P xo

I really really love this outfit!
ReplyDeleteI am so dreading my daughter starting preschool next year! Not only am I going to miss her and OMG why do they grow so fast but I am totally not a morning person. I barely squeak by when she's up early as it is. Luckily I can put off really waking up but when she has to get to school? I'll have to find a way to make it less painful. Can't wait to see what you have in store tomorrow.
ReplyDeletethis dress is perfection on you!

I quite like your bag! I love a big roomy purse :)
ReplyDeleteI think this is my favorite outfit I've ever seen you wear! The coral and purple just look so beautiful on you. That's so exciting for Toby and amazing that he can tell the difference between upper and lower case and wants to practice. Looks like you're raising a great learner and I wish I could have him in my class!
