Weekend Recap

This past weekend was one of those "emotionally draining but still kind of great" weekends. Friday morning we set out to a Sip 'N Shop pop up event we were putting on with a few other local shops in East Nashville. It was freezing! We didn't want to set up in full force because we'd only be there for 4 hours due to a prior photoshoot we had booked, so we did a half-set up and hunkered down for a few hours. There were people, and we made some sales (and met some blog readers!), but it was very underwhelming. We had higher hopes for Saturday for sure. We packed up and towed Honeybean home, then went and shot a super cute family at Sevier Park. I don't even remember what we did after that, but I know I lacked all sorts of productivity! haha
On Saturday morning we woke up and got ready to pull Honeybean back out for the second half of the Sip 'N Shop event. We pulled her out to the road but kept feeling a "thump". Mike hopped out of the car to inspect and saw we had a flat tire. Awesome. We didn't have a spare or Fix A Flat but we he went out and tried to remedy it. To no avail. Seems we picked up some nails on our trek to or from Friday's event. Crossing our fingers we get that bad boy situated before this Saturday because that's a huge event for us. We ended up having to skip Small Business Saturday (wahhhh!) but tried to make the best of it regardless. Toby went to visit with his grandparents for a few hours so Mike and I spent the day together. We went out on a little lunch date, stocked up on shop supplies and display items, popped into a few shops and picked out a few gifts for Toby's birthday and Christmas and even some gifts for other folks on our list. After we picked Toby up we decided it'd be fun to decorate the Christmas tree together. Toby had a blast! He was quite good at it, too. You know, minus bunching them up on the same branch at the very bottom of the tree haha I think we're all very happy with the outcome of our tree. Our living room doesn't really have a great place for it, but it worked out just fine.
Sunday was a day of cleaning! Oh boy, cleaning. Our house needed it since all we've been doing lately is rotating Honeybean product, painting and shipping wooden signs, and trying to prepare for another Kaelah's Closet cleanout. We bleached our comforter in the bathtub (dog slobber. Ugh!), washed a million loads of laundry, sorted several bags to toss, donate or store, etc. Our house looks like a home again haha Afterwards we headed out on some family errands. We took advantage of some sales around town and picked up some new clothes for each of us. We ended the day with a quick pop into Costco and that was that. We came home, ate homemade chili and set up "camp night" (Fort Flynn!) for Toby while we all watched Ice Age together and I painted signs.
Overall I felt like I took a few hits as a small business owner this past weekend. Some of my own doing, some out of pure misfortune, and some out of the disrespect of others. I think it was a trying kind of weekend on that front. Luckily Mike and I talk about these things almost daily so we're always reassessing our stance and our "plan of attack" for the future. Sounds so vague but I'm not sure how to otherwise put it! haha

Today is for responding to loads of emails, sorting my closet and office, and working on some more product for Honeybean this weekend. And lots and lots of packing and shipping at the post office. It wouldn't be Monday without the post office, right?!
Just a heads up on a few things! The wood bunting above will be making it's debut at Porter Flea on Saturday! I'm happy to fill any orders via email if you'd like to nab one. They're 10 pennants long, and 10'. You can adjust the width between the pennants yourself (ours is adjusted to 6' wide!) They're $15 + $2 shipping. I also still have some signs up for grabs that are guaranteed by Christmas! Seriously, get your orders in quick and I can have them done by the end of the week! The Cyber Monday discount on sponsorships also ends tonight at midnight! 20% off ANY size sidebar ad (including XL/Featured!). Email kaelahbee@gmail.com if you'd like to snag any one of these dealios! Happy Monday!

PS; Don't forget to get your entries in for the Shoe Mint giveaway! 3 winners will get a pair of shoes of their choice! (I added an extra way to enter, too!)

Weekend Recap: iPhone Photo Edition

Be forewarned. All of the photos you are about to see are courtesy of my iPhone. Meaning they may lack in quality and be a bit silly, but you get what you get, kay? Haha. I have a ton more photos from our other cameras but I need to get the film developed and sit down to go through my DSLR. There's more coming, I swear. And this is really a "what we ate" and "what I bought" type post anyhow.

On Thursday, I took off of work so I could take the train to Queens and then a bus to the airport to get Mike. My train was slow and my bus was late (and packed!). I got to the airport about 30 minutes after Mike had landed. I was walking into baggage claim when he ran up behind me. Man was I happy to see him! We got back on a bus and did the same thing over again. Train back to Manhattan. Checked into my place and went from there. We decided to head up to Times Square to go to the Forever 21 for a bit and we grabbed some quick/cheap lunch at Olive Garden (I KNOW! SO not New Yorker of me, but I was starving!) After a few fun hours uptown, we headed back down to my apartment, rented some movies and got some dinner. (We watched Youth in Revolt and it wasn't funny at all!)

what a weird pose, i know! i look like i'm trying to be a weirdo preggo haha

dress: a'gaci, flip flops: old navy (what a lame outfit post haha)

Friday was a bit of a blur. I know we headed to Canal St and SoHo for a bit, then we stopped by Red Bamboo for some yummy vegan lunch (with the best salad and spring rolls ever!). Eventually we happened upon the East Village and I used my ridiculous amounts of Urban Outfitters giftcards to snag a few things. We ended up watching She's Out Of My League (we both loved that movie in theaters and it was just as funny at home!). (and I don't even remember what I wore! This is why I can't wait a few days to post! I always forget!)

Saturday we woke up with the intention of going to get pancakes for breakfast (well, I did) and then going to Centra Park to lounge for a few hours and relax. We ate at the Lyric Diner on 2nd and 22nd before loading up our stuff, buying some fresh fruit, and heading to a few Barnes and Nobels around the city so I could get my hands on a copy of Eat, Pray, Love (finally!). I want to read it before the movie comes out. I also snagged a new Anna Maxted book for only $5! I love her! I seriously recommend her if you like "chick flick" type books. So funny! After hitting up the B&N on the Upper East Side at 86th St, we walked over to Central Park, found a shaded place on the Great Lawn and hung out for a few hours. It was so great to people watch and just be able to hang out. I feel like the city makes us think we have to be go go go all the time. It was nice to just.... stay. I wrote several penpals back so be on the lookout, y'all! After all of that, we headed back downtown, back to the supermarket to get stuff for dinner and then to Kmart to grab a few things. We came home and cooked some yummy veggie stirfry and watched Love Happens (love that movie!). We also had a fun conversation at 2am about childhood things. It was nice.

And now here it is... Sunday. Mike leaves tomorrow. It's a bummer because it seems like his time flew by so quickly. Then again, so is my time. I've already been here a month and I move back in just over 4 weeks. There are things I definitely miss about Tennessee and I'm excited about things that will happen upon my return, but I really have no strong desire to leave (as per usual). I'm not too sure what we'll get into today. We talked about doing another picnic in the park so that might be nice. No real plans or anything. I'm not sure where you can see the fireworks but I'm not too worried about that I guess. It'd be nice to just go read some books. Part of me wants to read Eat, Pray, Love right now... then part of me wants to read the Anna Maxted book (beacause I always enjoy them SO much!) AND I have a new Encyclopedia of Sharks to dive into! (dork moment!) We've been taking a lot of teensy polaroids with our Instax so I'll have to post those soon! Now I have to go find an outfit to wear!

I think I'm going to do a weekend round-up of all the outfits worn so I have more time to put the photos together! If you celebrate the 4th of July, Happy Independence Day! If you don't, Happy Sunday! I hope it's a great one! (and please remind me to never go 3 days without a real update again! It's too stressful!)

xoxo

PS; I was given TWO blog awards by three lovely ladies. Each requires 15 tags so I probably won't do that but I will say thanks so much to Lynzy, Cherry Red Studio, and Maisie! Thanks ladies!

PPS; If you've ever done a feature on me, my blog, or my etsy, please send me a link to it! I'm going to compile them all with links and screenshots in a post under "features" or whatever! So if you've ever interviewed me or anything like that, be sure to send me your info so I can add it and people can stop by and see!

You get like 50% off of designer stuff and all that jazz. And you get giftcards for getting people to join. :) Easy peezy!

Catch-Up!

Here are a few images from the last couple days (iPhone quality, forgive me!). We went to TJ Maxx the other day and I fell in LOVE with this gorgeous dinnerware set! It's a beautiful pale ashy blue with ornate edges. The bowls are darling and the teacups and saucers are even cuter! Eep! I cannot wait to finally settle down in our OWN home and build from there. I'm sure a couple of years of apartment living will be up first, but we shall see! (Peep the matching yellow set on the shelf below! They even had white! They had the teacups in pink but not the place settings... plus, Mike would never go for all pink plates! haha)

Mike surprised me at school the other night with a strawberry (I mean "Big Dreams") cupcake from IveyCake (my favorite!). I was hard at work studying for my Art History exam and Kayce was there, too, so he ran out and brought one for her as well. So sweet!

We've gotten in this habit of cooking dinner, crawling into the couch and turning on Hulu or Dexter. We made yummy veggie stir fry the other night, threw it into a bowl and settled in. Granted we only ate a few bites each (it fills you up!) but it was DEEEELISH!

I've had 3 boxes of expired Polaroid film and some come out, some don't. I've been taking the ones that don't process correctly and writing short little snip-its and inspirational quotes on the to hang around and send to my penpals. Both of these were mailed off the other day so be on the lookout for little surprises!

As you've read, Sunday Mike and I took Toby down to Hohenwald so we could spend the day with my parents. They were overjoyed at the chance to meet the little heartthrob. As soon as we showed up, they showered him with little gifts they had bought him. My mom bought him a Thomas the Engine plush and educational sound book, and my stepdad bought him an oversized Panda stuffed animal. He had so much fun with them. He definitely stole their hearts immediately. My nana came over, too, and was tickled to death by him. Shortly thereafter, both Toby and I became very very sleepy. We laid him down on my parents bed for a nap and before I knew it, both he and I were sound asleep. Mike came in to check on us at one point and I was halfway off the bed. I woke up not too long after and he and my stepdad left to get dinner. We had yummy veggie fajitas and such and conversed for a while. My stepdad's parents stopped by at one point and then Toby woke up. We played for a bit and then said our goodbyes, we were on our way back to Franklin. Sarah came to pick up Toby not too long after and our house became very quiet. I think Georgia was a little confused why her little visitor had left.

We took this opportunity to go get Dexter Season 3 from Blockbuster and settle in for a long night of episodes. We watched 3 before deciding to turn in for the night. I was jostled awake by an incredible pain in my lower left abdomen at about 6am or so. I could have sworn I was dying. I thought I needed to wake up Mike to take me to the ER but I assured myself I'd be fine and somehow managed to go back to sleep. Off and on all day, I went to Print class and we ran errands. It came back as we went out to eat for lunch. He took me home and I took a nap while he ran to his house in Nashville. He came home and we started watching Dexter once more. We're 3 episodes in tonight and we'll probably watch a couple more before bed. Tomorrow is a busy day of homework for me!

Oh, I'm not sure if I ever blogged about it or not, but I'm happy to say that next Wednesday, I shall be getting my calves tattooed! Well, we're starting on one. Hopefully we'll get a good ways through it (we're shooting for at least a 3 hour session) but I'm going to approve the sketch next Tuesday. Hopefully it all goes well and turns out great, then I can show you! I'm very excited about it. I feel like it's a big step for me... to tattoo my legs. My arms are one thing... but now I feel like I'm really getting into some heavier modification and I'm very excited.

I apologize for my lack of enthusiasm for blogging as of late. Sometimes I get in these funks where I lose a little bit of motivation. I love blogging and I've been doing it for almost a decade now. I don't think I'll ever stop. However, sometimes it's harder than others to muster up the enthusiasm to blog about my day to day life or scour the internet for some great inspiration. But this too shall pass! I'm sure it's nothing!

I'll be the ripe ol' age of 22 in 29 minutes! Hope it's a great year!

The Most Exhausting Weekend... Ever.

This weekend has been NON STOP! Man do I mean it! Yesterday morning I had a ridiculous Art History exam, followed by a nice little power nap that was totally my saving grace. I headed up to Hermitage at 3 to pick up Toby from Sarah by 4. Mike was busy moving things out of his house because it's closing on Wednesday. We pulled into the driveway at the same time (great timing!). We ran some errands and ate dinner at Panera before coming home so I could go to work.

Work last night was ... bleh. It was dead most of the time. I really need that to NOT be the case tonight haha I strolled into the house at 3am and crashed in bed. Toby decided to wake up at 7am. gah! kids! haha Mike got up with him and they played and yelled and what not. I woke up several times but finally just got up at 10. I got ready and showered, etc etc etc. Had to get ready to go to the TOMS Style Your Sole party that my friend Merissa had organized on campus today. I showed up at about 11:30am to help set up. Things went smoothly and we had a great crowd. Mike brought Toby and he was a total hit. Everyone loved him. Finally after taking everything down, a group of us went to Sweet CeCe's at about 5pm. Mike and Toby woke up from their nap to join us. Toby loved the Pomegranate Raspberry Sorbet. After all of that was done, we went to Target to get him new pacifiers and I bought him a sweet stuffed lamb. Then we went to Garcia's for dinner. He's been such a doll this whole time.

Now I'm at home, about to leave for work yet again in 10 minutes and I'd kill for a nap. I'm so so so exhausted. Having a toddler who wakes up at 7am when I get home from work after 3am... it's something haha but I LOVE having him here. It's so much fun.

Tomorrow we're driving down to my parents' house and they're so excited to meet him. It'll be a nice little day trip.

Sorry there are no pictures in this entry... I'm running low on time!

I promise I'll have some soon!
Happy Weekend, everyone!

Weekend Recap

As I'm sure most of you have noticed, I've been taking the weekends as breaks from blogging almost entirely. It's not unusual for me to go Friday-Sunday without saying a peep over here. Sorry about that! Sometimes I just need that break from the internet realm. This weekend, however, it was brought on by that awful sickness I've been battling all week. The sinus infection turned ear infection turned crap that just would not quit! My ear caused me so much agony that I had to call out of work on Friday night. Loaded up with ear drops and cottonballs, we laid out and watched HULU and movies most all night. Here are a few photos from earlier in the day... we took Georgia to the dog park twice on Friday. She was tuckered out! (Then she came home and went swimming in the muddy creek... I have photos but they're on my Nikon. I'll post soon!) Oh, I should say, Whip It is now one of my favorite movies. It was SO good!

Saturday I woke up feeling like absolute death. I barely had a voice. Angie called to tell me that work was dead all night so I didn't miss out on much. We tried making the most of the day by taking Georgia back to the dog park for a while and then we decided to rip apart the vintage cruiser Mike had given me and paint it. Well, I say "we" when I really mean "he" haha Georgia played in the mud and water yet again. It was fairly relaxed for the most part but I just wasn't feeling well. I called into work again and just planned for a night at home. We went out for dinner at thought about going to the movies until we saw the ridiculous parking lot. We snagged "Accidental Husband" and "The Invention of Lying" from Redbox and we went home.

We went to bed after both of our movies last night (both were awesome!) and I woke up at 9:45am. Mike woke up but was awfully sick (oops!) so he stayed in bed for an extra 2 hours or so. I made waffles for breakfast but they were kind of crappy. He started to finish up my bike outside (yay!) and we rode over to Pinkerton Park, decided we need a portable hammock (I'm gonna buy one soon!), and we came back home for a bit. We suited up and rode our bikes downtown, grabbed some frozen yogurt at Sweet CeCe's and plopped down on a bench in the middle of 5 points for a while. We rode back home and then went to the grocery store so we could make some yummy stir-fry tonight. He's playing his videogame and I'm doing this whole blogging business. It's been a really really nice Sunday.

Don't forget my giveaway ends tonight! CLICK HERE to enter! There are way fewer entries this time seeing as I haven't advertised it much. You have a great shot at winning! A winner will be chosen at random using Random.Org tonight!

I don't have Print 2 class tomorrow but I still have a bunch of homework to work on. I should get on that. Hopefully Mike will be feeling better by then so we can maybe have a nice picnic or something.

Oh, and thanks for everyone who supported me through the BME Intern process. A lot has transpired since then and I don't know if I feel comfortable airing it all out via Kaelahbee.com, but I will be addressing the matter via my LiveJournal. I feel like it's more appropriate to be talked about in that forum as opposed to here. I WILL say congrats to the final 4 who WILL be going. I am 110% happy with being in Franklin until NYC. Please don't ask me why here or in my formspring. If you want to know the ~deets, add me on LiveJournal. :)

And a quick question... How did everyone feel about Alice in Wonderland? We were going to go see it the other night but I have a feeling I'm going to hate it. (I'm not the world's biggest Tim Burton fan). Tell!

Until later...
XO

PS; I have decided that I AM going to get my dimples pierced! Hopefully this week! If not, at least next (spring break!)
