I told you these Liz Lange maternity dresses were going to be all up in my outfit posts! This is the black one (which matches the navy and white stripe one from this outfit post earlier this week) and despite it being classy enough to dress up, I wanted to keep it super casual. I spent some time doing this silly (and straight up janky) DIY screenprinted tote bag the other day because I'm 110% obsessed with Awkwafina's album (even though this phrase was actually inspired by Eternia's tees). I thought it'd be fun to pair it with my dress and then add loads of color with my Members Only jacket and Loly in the Sky loafers. You'll just have to forgive my straight up derp smirk in all of these, okay? haha (And peep the single frame of different sunglasses above! I ended up trading them out at the end and I guess this was the resulting snap!) This was the perfect outfit to run errands in. Light and breezy, but still pulled together. As much as I usually prefer to avoid black and fuschia pairings, I'm loving it with this soft, buttery yellow. I ended up getting my Loly loafers a full size larger than I normally wear since I wanted to accommodate preggo-feet this Summer. (Just a heads up, they generally run 1/2 a size small!) It's been a lovely week full of Spring weather so these shoes are the perfect cherry on top.
We finally made some of our first Baby Flynn purchases this week! We ordered a moses basket, a wooden stand, and an infant seat. That way if the worst case scenario was to happen, we'll at least be slightly prepared. Budgeting + planning out baby purchases is seriously driving me crazy. I can't help but worry that we'll be totally unprepared when he decides to come. I know most expectant mothers feel that way though, so at least that's a bit reassuring. Making any kind of budget as a self-employed, small business owner is terrifying because you straight up have no idea what the next few days/weeks/months will have in store for you. Just livin' that dream, y'all! haha Every time I book a new client I basically want to make out with my computer, so you know, there's that. (Thanks to all of you who allow me to do what I do! Seriously... you're literally keeping my dream alive haha) but for real, how do you know what's necessary vs superfluous?! I know I'll make the rookie first mom mistake of lusting over all the "cool" gadgets and grossly overestimating the actual "needs" of our baby, but I guess that's also part of the fun? Does that even make sense? Haha I'll have to pick y'all's brains
We've had a few days in the lower 80's already and today we're getting a nice bit of thunderstorms to round out the week. There are few things I love more than a Spring thunderstorm. The Bradford pear trees are almost all green (!!! The blooming season is so short... but I love it. Even if they do stink to the high heavens) and I'm constantly on the lookout for little blooms on our fruiting pear tree out back. My hosta plants are spreading at a rapid rate and we've got lilies starting to explode from the ground. It's my absolute favorite time of year and I'm so, so glad it's here. Bring on the iced coffee and lemonade! Now I just need to clean up our hammock and make the most of the twinklelights in our backyard... Drop by anytime! We'll have the grill going ;)
Happy weekend! xo

You're getting so big! AH! I can't wait for you to be a new mom :) I've been reading for so long, I feel like I'm going through it, personally. Too weird? :\ Also, still obsessing over those loafers. I need to start saving.

haha that's the beauty of blogs! relating to so many people from across the globe! :P
DeleteSo far, the most important things for a baby have been: bassinet, way too many clothes, tons of towels, washclothes, and burp clothes, a baby tub, car seat and stroller. We haven't used any toys yet (he is almost 3 months), he hardly ever goes on his tummy time mat (I just turn him over on the floor or bed), and it was so much easier to bf in our room/bed so the super cute chair I bought for the nursery has yet to be used... haha.
ReplyDeleteSometimes something that seems essential for baby, or that others tell you is essential, is totally unnecessary and other times something that doesn't seem essential or you're told by other moms is a waste totally isn't. I mean yeah there are essentials but some stuff one person swears by won't work for the next. Sorry that was useless. Lol. I guess what I'm trying to say is don't be too worried if someone is all "OMG you HAVE to buy a wipes warmer" and you're not convinced, lol. Though I gotta say I currently I swear by Swaddle Me blankets (I think Gerber makes it, can't remember). I wish I'd have had them with my first. A million times easier than trying to swaddle with a receiving blanket.
ReplyDeleteLove the shoes!!!
ReplyDeleteI just want to say how thankful I am for your blog. I just stumbled across it yesterday while looking for some maternity fashions. I have an event to go to an was concerned about how to dress my "bump" without looking frumpy. You prove that one can look effortless and beautiful while pregnant. Thanks for the tips about Target. I'm heading there now!
